Me, I'm thrilled to see the guard be more proactive about the warn-off to parents of small children. We've all watched the horses becoming suddenly upset and reactive. Putting any child who's too small to move quickly out of danger if the horse does start to act out, is dangerous.

John, you are correct about the markings!! Well done!!! And the horses get upset when they can't do what nature tells them to do. Which is turn their tails to the direction that the wind is coming from. This protects all parts of a horses private anatomy. I’ve noticed Nimbus hates being crowded and isn’t afraid to show it, luckily the trooper has excellent control and awareness of his surroundings and is vocal when necessary to avoid a problem and keep his horse as calm as possible. Also I thought that huge police horse was Quixote but I could be wrong 😅 it’s a gorgeous horse either way. Loved the video, thank you for bringing us along!

Hi John, I’m loving your wonderful videos! Former horsewoman here, I’m starting my own horse list because it’s so fun! I can’t see hoof numbers so I’m only doing markings and size. Leg markings are quite distinctive as well as face markings, so I’m writing sock info (which legs and height) and a rough height estimate. Another distinctive thing is what side the mane falls on, as it tends to stay on one side. For example the gorgeous Northumberland’s mane falls on his left, while Romania’s (sp?) mane is unusual in that she has pretty much a full mane on both sides. There’s another horse that I’ve seen that has a half-and-half mane. Also forelock length and size is fairly distinctive. Keep your videos coming, they’re so fun to watch! ❤ 🐴

@bonnieweeks7601 Sorry Bonnie, but linguists have rejected that theory long ago. The accepted theory is "yankee" derived from the Dutch name "Janneke", pronounced J like a Y and used by the Brits to refer to the Dutch colonists of the northeast usa. Derogatory, still, to this day, especially if used by a southerner. It was originally thought to be Cherokee but their language has no such words. 😊

Nice to see the Blues rotate more of the horses they brought with them. Variety is the spice of life, did the troopers rotate like the horses John? Invader woo hoo, he is a stunning horse with those eyebrows. The Horse on the left is Nimbus, maybe the Lifeguards brought back last week horses because they're used to the noises with new troops.

There are various names for the facial markings on a horse in the UK. I was taught : A blaze is usually a broad marking down the face extending to the nostrils. A snip is a white marking on the muzzle between the nostrils. A star is a white mark on the forehead between the eyes or slightly above. A stripe or race is a narrow white marking down the face which may, or may not, extend to the nostrils. And a bald face is an extremely wide blaze that extends as far as, or beyond, the eyes. There can be a star and snip combination which, obviously, don’t join up or a star & stripe combination which often does. Then there are the Pintos - which my granddaughter described as a horse going to a fancy dress party dressed as a cow. Although there are lots of variations simplistically a black horse with white patches is called a piebald. A skewbald is a horse of any colour - apart from black - with white patches. A tobiano is a white horse with patches of any colour A dappled horse has round patches of hair more deeply coloured than the base colour of the horse. More often seen in greys but can appear in bays & palominos too. Why this pigmentation occurs is a mystery - could it be genetics, could it be a health issue, a combination of both or neither the “equine experts” haven’t figured it out yet. But whatever it is, in most cases, the dapples tend to fade as the horse gets older but it looks spectacular while it lasts.

Was listening to what you said about your eldest and skating, it is the same said about learning to ride a bike or riding a horse, you have to keep getting back up or back on otherwise you wouldn't achieve anything in life. Putting your children in front of a huge animal for the sake of a photo is so much more dangerous and probably the quickest way of making them afraid of horses in the future.

Are you winding us up about the keys? The weather has improved though. The howling gales on Sunday night was terrible, it was windy last night, Monday, too. Thats a blaze but not a full blaze, slightly short and off centre, a star is a white dot in the middle of the forehead, between the eyes kinda, so this has a blaze and a left back sock, which is shorter than a stocking. No you're right, although I never heard it referred to as a star and stripe, its a short blaze. Yes I would call the second horses dot as a faint star too, thing is, I am in my sixties and new younger people come up with new things but, all horses have passports and, if I am not mistaken they stick pretty much to the terminology I was brought up with. Nowadays they say things like "throat latch" on the bridle when its actually throat Lash, but people end up bending to the pressure of common useage. Not me, I wouldn't ever be caught saying "normalcy" or "clichè" when its obviously normality and clichèd lol! Brit to the bone! Yes a snip is on the nose part of the face. No your list is in fact accurate now you read it out, its true there is a stripe but usually I would have thought it would be separate from the star to be a star and stripe, irregular, short blaze is what I would describe it as.

Any white mark on the horse's upper face is a star. Round, odd shaped ir curved it is a star. A wide white mark of any length down the middle of the horse's face is a blaze. A narrow strip or stripe doen the middle of the face is a strip or stripe. A separate white mark on the nose is a snip.

I was going to comment about the two following things last night when i watched the video, but didn't get the chance to: 1. it was really nice you attempted to intervene this time to warn the man with the stroller that it was not ok to get near Nimbus, as he was obviously very irritated; most tourists don't understand even the obvious negative behaviour of the horses, let alone what the Guard is telling them, since they don't speak English, or the Guard may not be saying anything at all. Or they can't hear well. But when you attempted to speak with the man, given your proximity to him, i think he understood something was wrong because of the tone of your voice that he clearly heard. That's why it is important to intervene in such situations, if you feel compelled to. Wow, so same horse, 4 children (3 walking and 1 in a pram/stroller), all Asian, different parents, same behaviour, in a very short time span. This goes to show both men and women can, at times, miscalculate the risk/danger in an identical situation. 2. I really loved the skating lesson you taught your eldest. It's probably one of the most important lessons one can learn in life. I also had a first (and last) lesson with skating, but when i was a lot older than your son/daughter, i was 24. Although i was very well dressed (double layered ski pants and tights) i discovered later that my knees had been badly affected, i had violet/black bruises all over them like someone had taken an iron bar ad hit me with it on my knees. That was because of the repeated falls. The lesson i learned with skating was that knowing when to stop something is just as important as not giving up, in order to prevent getting even more hurt and bruised.

A piebale. is a white face animal we are most the face is white like in a cow or a steer it’s predominantly white and the rest of the body is a dark colored. Would you find some animals in the wild deer and moose that are considered piebald because they are white faced or partially white, which is out of the normal for those animals but as far as horses and cattle, that’s what they considered piebald
