If you're new here, we're Tom and Iz, a couple who have been living in a van for the last four years. We've explored Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Romania in our little home on wheels, La Bamba. If you missed any of these series you can check them out in our playlists. We most recently got back from a 10 week trip to Nepal (without the van), trekking in the Himalayas. We are now wrapping up our UK WINTER VAN LIFE series and we would love you to join us! We usually upload on a Sunday at 5pm UK time. Our aim for this series was to get out there and explore areas of natural beauty in the UK that neither of us have been to before, getting outside in the elements and making the most of our British winter! You two are so smart and brave, collected and adventurous, it’s so fun to follow you. You’re the age when me and my wife got kids but of course we didn’t live in a van. But we did travel with our kids until they were six and four. Not saying you should go and make babies, you do in your time, just that kids are very easy to travel with until they reach school age. Looking forward to your next travel! Oh, forgot to mention I have visited Cornwall and loved it. Went to a pasty shop in Penzance and as I came out with it all I saw was a white flash. A seagull ripped it out of my hands! Seeing you coming out of the shop with your pasties brought that memory back.

Tom your locking problem is the contacts on your sliding door, when you changed the rollers the door needs lining up with the contacts on the van. you have 3 gold pins on springs on your door and 3 gold contact plates on the van you might need to loosen the center roller on the van door and lift the door about 3/4 mm so they line you when you close the door. hope this helps.

I loved Isabel's hand in the air with excitement for kids, I have two, one over your age already, 33 and 26 and in a month and a half my daughter graduates with her PhD, let me tell you, it wasn't easy and the cost of putting both through University in the USA was insane but now that both are done I'm free to roam, starting next year in Portugal and first thing I will do is go north towards Brittany and then cross to Cornwall and then head north to Wales and eventually Scotland. Keep believing in your plans as they will come true eventually. I only got to my remote home in mid-Wales I'd been dreaming of as a teen five years ago. I did eventually make it so never give up on your dreams however long they take to come true. Have a look at tiny homes like the ones they have in New Zealand, these would be perfect for you. Well being in Truro, I am not sure we really have a 'local' pasty shop as they are all Rowes and Warrens - I reckon Barnecutts are better as one of my offices are in Bodmin and get them sometimes. What a great video again of course, and reminds me of being a bit younger. You should totally have a baby in the van! My son is nearly 16 now and you do have that time before they have to go to school when you can explore and are free. I guess it get a bit tricky when they are school age. But you should totally bring up your kids in Cornwall - we are lucky in Truro that we have the best primary and secondary schools and my son has had a fantastic childhood,. Anyway, blathering on but it's so funny to see you worldwide one minute - and then back in little Bodmin the next! You are totally doing in the right way - keeping alive, fit and healthy is the most important thing. Your smiles are so uplifting.

Clean the terminals on the door this is usually the cause of it beeping

I did give it a wipe, and still beeped. But the good news is since then it has stopped on its own 🤣

@@LostInTransit usually the brass plates on the three terminals have a tendency to build up a layer of corrosion I found by giving it a clean with wet and dry helped as my transit has done a similar thing it also means the door doesn't always lock

Hi Tom. For insurance purposes, you must have a vented gas locker in Ireland. Not the same in the UK?

The gas hob you buy for a house are set up for mains gas that is kept under lower pressure, if you use bottled gas it will be higher pressure so the flame will come out huge! 🔥 We just got some replacement sphincters (little nuts in the hob that let the gas out) on Amazon that have a smaller hole so let out less gas. They are easy to switch over and means you still have eyebrows left after making a cup of tea

You need to come to Cascate del Mulino hot springs in Italy, don’t be tricked into going to Terme di Saturnia. Mulino is free with a good cheap camper stop close by, whereas Terme is a resort complex and is expensive! We are here now!

@@LostInTransit we just got back from there, it’s amazing. You are well advised to take swimming shoes as the rocks are painful under foot. Also there’s showers on site for 1€ for 2 mins. Go early morning or in the evening as it’s rammed all day. Dry robe is a good idea or at least a big towel.

Hi guys, you've probably covered it already in a video way back when, but I'm really intrigued as to how you access the internet when you're on your travels. No doubt all the uploads you do are pretty data heavy. Having a data package that allows so many large uploads outside the UK must cost a pretty penny, unless of course Surfshark fools your ISP into thinking y'all are still back at base in the UK.

Internet is so difficult these days. We have used some international sims before which were good but couldn’t hotspot from them, so had to airdrop our videos to our phone and upload from there, and was £££. Now we try to use local sims as much as possible, I also have 3 mobile that allows you to have unlimited data for £5/day, that we have used a couple times in a pinch to upload some videos ext

Hi both, Only recently found your channel but really enjoying the vids. My partner and I and our 7year old are planning a month around France in our T5 called buggsy towards the middle of August and into Sept so will be following closely to see where you end up in France. Also when you go to Greece you need to go to Lefkada. Chapterby,chapter have just made a video there. The sea and beaches are amazing. My father in law lives out there so if you want any tips of places to go etc drop us a line. I know a couple of amazing of places which are awesome for a park up overnight!!! My son Theo wants to start doing youtube travel videos so he has his own channel called Mini Tibbs travels and we are off to Tenerife Sunday so we have our go pro, drone etc ready so he will be making a few vids when were out there so please subscribe to his channel when you get a chance. Sorry if this sounds pedantic but I don't see it as 'living' in the van in the real sense of the word. You guys are travelling and adventuring in the van. How else would you do it. When you visit family etc do you always stay in the van? If I was doing a 3 month hike and sleeping in my tent every night I don't think that would constitute 'living' in my tent. It just bugs me the way people use the word. Love the channel.

We have spent 2 months staying at our parents in the last two years. I think we live in the van more than we live anywhere else, I guess the difference with your tent is you have a home somewhere else where all your stuff is ext. We don’t, all our stuff is in the van, we work from the van, we stay in the van 90% of the time. I would argue that that’s living in it, although as you say, not in the conventional sense. Any way, glad you’re enjoying the videos 😊

I have to say I agree @CRyan & the only way this type of lifestyle seems to be financially viable is if "vanlifers" freeload a lot of the time. One night a week in a campsite ?? Far too many people are doing this & cheesing off local residents as well as other visitors.
