Showering on the road (Van Life France)

April Showers in the Dordogne. This week we take on the Dordogne in our van in France and are spoilt by it's wonderful wild swimming spots, gorgeous quaint villages and stunning weather! We wake up in an aire in France and are just chuffed to be traveling in France where we feel very welcome in a camper van and have no issues getting services. Iz gets lost on a walk and Tom sets up our new shower system inside the van! Iz does a workout and tests it out. We then drive on to a beautiful village called Beynac-et-Cazenac for a picnic on the banks of the Dordogne. Tom finds us yet another stunner of a park up right on the river and he braves a swim. Then it's Iz's turn in the morning and we finish the day at our first campsite of the trip, which we are so pleased with. 12.90 euros for one night and it's such a beautiful site. It was called Camping Ferme des campagnes and was just outside Rocamadour, which we later explored! An incredible place and a must see in France, a medieval village at the bottom of a canyon with a monastery and church at the top.

If you're new here, we're Tom and Iz, a couple who have been living in a van for the last four years. We've explored Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Romania and the UK in our little home on wheels, our Ford transit van named La Bamba. What a delightful channel 🎯 Yes go south babies. In the 80s I got to travel in VW camper all over Europe after grad school. We were the only campervan anywhere. In France we were such a rarity people would invite us for lunch and asked us to spend the night in their vineyards. Viva France 💗🎠🎶

I had the good fortune to stay At a gite (converted farm barn) in Brittany. I loved the old buildings, bilingual road signs, standing stones, and many other things. The locals 😂😂 hospitable to the Poms and one Aussie (me).

Even in the height of the summer it still doesn't get no more than 16 degrees up there at the Hebrides I live on teesside so I get the middle bit but because I live near the coast we don't get much hot whether down here either , 20 degrees is our summer 🌞 we may get the odd day but it not like London , and also Brighton on the south coast

Lovely town. French markets are brill. Getting lost in the village freaked me out for some reason. £30 in UK is steep. We don’t pay that much to be on sites. CL locations are cheap and quiet. France is packed with great places and sites to stay.
