I initially had a rug under our dining table too, BUT ended up moving it because I found that it was easier to clean underneath any crumbs if there wasn't a rug for them to fall into 😂

This move says volumes about being a minimalist. That has to be one of the quickest moves on record. 😀 Wishing you and your husband much happiness in your new home!

In that drawer you could put the bigger cooking utensils so they won't clutter your counter space. And I absolutely LOVE this vlog, it was too short lol. I much prefer vlogs while you're moving and settling in, it feels like we're moving with you, haha!

I would recommend an outdoor rug for under your table. It will be so much easier to clean if anything gets spilled on it. In the drawer I would put kitchen towels and pot holders. It's right next to the oven. Congratulations on your new home!

My boyfriend and I are getting married on June and we're getting our house built since last July... now we already have the roof and doors and windows so we have invited our families and friends over a couple of times just to share how excited we are. I love your videos but these ones and your posts on instagram make me really happy... It's nice and amazing how we can get and feel connected with people from so far away and who we haven't ever met in person. Congrats to both of you!! And I'll have you present in my prayers 😘

Loving these vlogs! Next to the cutlery, you can add Rev-A-Shelf 4SDI-18 16-Inch 3-Tier Trim-to-Fit Wooden Spice Drawer Storage Organizer Cabinet Insert, Natural Maple for your spices. I think it will look great and be accessible for you when you are cooking. Hope this helps!

So exciting to be with you guys on your journey of moving into your new, gorgeous home! I'm not sure if anyone has already mentioned this, but if you do take the rug route I'd recommend a low pile or washable rug for the dining area. Not only for considering the food that would be dropped there but thinking about your previous video where you mentioned possibly getting a pet, a low pile rug is easier to clean from pet accidents (good for if you decide to get a puppy) and of course a washable rug can be thrown into the washing machine. Since my husband and I have raised two puppies within the past couple of years, we've gone through the gamut of cleaning pet accidents on various surfaces and the low pile rug was much easier to clean.

Your home is so nice - congratulations! Table and chairs are so close in tone to your floors, I would definitely use a rug. That will not only identify the area as separate from the kitchen but will also highlight your great dining furniture. There are some pretty synthetic rugs that can just be taken outside and hosed off if necessary. You might want to consider using a shelf liner on your kitchen shelves and drawers. I like the rolls that are kind of cushioning with holes in it. I bought mine at the dollar tree. Liners really reduce or eliminate wear and tear that will happen over time. I have one wide drawer where I put all of my cutlery, knives and other utensils. Other than the crock on the countertop where I put some wooden spoons and whisks, every other utensil I own is in that one drawer. Thank you for a great video!

What we did in our new house was put the cooking utensils into the drawers right next to the stove and oven. Keeps the counters neat and clean, but is also convenient. We have a large drawer to fit them all, so the other drawer on the other side of the stove we put the oven mitts! And yes, absolutely a rug in the dining room. Protects the floors, but also makes it more cozy and put together! ❤️
@AshlynneEaton4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all these great ideas!! I did the same thing with our oven mitts 🥰

For the empty space in the drawer, you could maybe add a cooking knife organizer if you want less things on the counter or oven mittens since the drawer is next to the oven.

Thanks for sharing - enjoy the journey setting up your home. I think the mostly used utensils that fit in the cutlery spare organizer could be in the drawer with the cutlery. What's great is you guys can set up things for you for many years to come. Instead of a rug, what about a clear table cloth to protect the wood and a table runner for an accent color
@CorinRae4 жыл бұрын
I laughed at Christopher carrying the reed diffuser. Did he drive over with it in his cupholder? lol. Because the dining table, chairs and floor are all brown wood, I think a rug work great to visually break it up and add softness to the space.

1) what's the brand of pots and pans you use/where'd you get them 2) For that space in the drawer why not get a knife drawer organizer and move your knives if you have them in a block to there. That way you'll have more clear counters.

when I moved a few years ago, I numbered all my boxes as I packed them and had a master list taped to the fridge. I did also label the boxes themselves with things like "dishes" and "bathroom" but having the master list helped me remember those odd things that ended up in other boxes (like how your frying pan was packed with clothing to make it fit). All in all, it made the move really easy and when some of the people helping me put a box in the "wrong" room, I was easily able to figure out which box I was missing while unpacking and find it quickly :)
@vanillaskye554 жыл бұрын
Use double sided tape under your bamboo silverware tray so it doesn't slide. And you can use the other half of that drawer for oven mits. Can't wait to see the rest of the unpacking. Not sure why it's so satisfying to watch.
@daniarts39094 жыл бұрын
I heard from a KZbinr organizer to keep things in your kitchen where you’ll naturally use them. And make putting things away super simple. Example I recently moved my dishes to be right where I air dry them. Instead of having move across the kitchen to put them away 😄 I love your videos, girl! Can’t wait to see more. I live about an hour from Charlotte in SC and I love this growing area! It’s a wonderful place to live. I love going to Waxhaw and they have an awesome naturally made good quality candle company there called The Waxhaw Candle Co.

For dining area... I wouldn't do the rug because if food drops and stains maybe.... but maybe put some felt on bottom of chairs so it doesnt skratch floors
@lesliecarson6844 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new home. Maybe eventually get a rug. For now just get little felt sliders on the bottom of chairs so you don’t damage floors. ( Can def find them at Home Depot or Lowe’s). I think you should just wait a bit until whole house is put together before you purchase a rug. That way you can figure out your style and decide on a rug that you both agree will look good. It will be fun putting everything away. My favorite part of moving. I can’t wait until all is unpacked!
@stephaniecarswell38034 жыл бұрын
Haha I totally feel you about moving the plants! I just moved recently and on the first day, when we were just doing carloads, we filled basically 2 cars with plants! I had a ton of outdoor plant pots and 8 big open boxes of indoor plants to move! It was definitely a nerve wracking drive as I had to go about and hour and through so many roundabouts!
@hmrishel114 жыл бұрын
If you don’t want the silverware organizer to slide around try using Velcro command strips (one side attached to the back or side of the organizer and one side attached to the drawer itself). They’re super easy to remove if you ever change your mind.

Suggestions for spoon drawers : so as it is near sync nd stove it will be helpful if you add the big cooking spoons/ kitchen tools/ knife ..so every type of spoon you can find in one drawer.. Nd yes for Rug bcz that gives a specific area nd identity to the dinner area

Love this video. You asked if we were interested in a packing tips and tricks video. And yes! I have moved several times but am definitely a hoarder and working on my beginning to minimizing journey but I love learning how everyone does packing and moving differently. Also the space by your cutlery in the drawer could be your dish towels or more fancy cloth napkins and napkin wrings and placemats that way everything to set a table is in one drawer. Just an idea. Anyways, so excited for your new chapter in your new home and can't wait to see how you start designing it. Congrats!

I agree with a rug under the dining room table- mainly because you don't want to scratch up your floors. :) I don't have a crock and keep my cooking utensils next to the stove in a drawer- so maybe you can put your cooking utensils on the other side of your silverware. otherwise, that might be a good spot for trivets and oven mitts or a small cutting board. Enjoy your new home!!
