So interesting to see this, I feel houses in Europe are built totally different. We don't have as much built in storage, so it's more about the furniture and you get to pick your style with it a lot. I'm excited to see what the place will look like when you're done 😊
@WuschelofDespair4 жыл бұрын
And I’m so happy about that, I hate built-in closets, they‘ll look very dated eventually and they‘re so hard to change. But renovating American homes built out of wood and drywall is much easier than our homes built from bricks and stone.

I have some suggestions for your home. 1. those knobs in the kitchen and bathroom: try to match them with all the door handles and kitchen (like the sinks) and shower hardware as well, so it becomes cohesive. since your kitchen and bathroom cabinets are kind of mat, consider using shinier knobs and handles (if your doors are also mat). Also, I would choose black, because it otherwise might clash with the shower colors. 2. the wall colors: if you make those either slightly darker than your moldings or make them the exact same color as the moldings and the ceiling, it will look very nice and your ceilings look taller. 3. consider painting the bottom of your kitchen cabinets in the same color as the cabinets, to make it look brighter and cohesive with the rest of the kitchen. 4. the living room area: use a bigger and maybe lighter colored couch without too many details spread around (that shouldn't be too hard for you). maybe keep one (extra) large vase with some flowers/branches/pampas grass. I love thinking about interior, haha

Thank you for showing us the floor plan. I always find it so much easier to understand a home’s layout this way. As someone who has bought three new homes from floor plans I think this is so well thought out. My first home was just over 1500 square feet but on two levels so I have a good idea of the space. My dream is to have had a bungalow but it’s never worked out. I live just outside Toronto and it’s rare for bungalows and also because of the layouts it’s usually more expensive because of the land it takes up. I am so happy for you and Christopher! You are still such a young couple and this is a huge achievement in your lives. I wish all young people would be smart like you and watch their finances early in life. It’s just goes to show you that it is possible when you save, are frugal and have a goal in sight. I wish you both many happy years in your new home.

Wow as someone living in the UK that house is enormous for a first timer buyer. You are so lucky to have large open space and a huge garden. Enjoy all the happiness and memories you can create there in the years to come

Wow! So many pluses… The beautiful floor, the view, large backyard with trees at the edge, spacey, large kitchen. I guess the only thing I didn’t like is the wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedrooms… prefer wood floors. The exterior of the house is very attractive also but maybe the best thing of all is that nobody has lived there previously which makes it so fresh.
@hallebroido27864 жыл бұрын
I recently helped a friend replace all their doorknobs and it made the house look totally different and more cohesive. The next project is also replacing hinges to match. If you change your handles in the bathrooms and kitchen it might make sense to also do doorknobs and hinges. Makes the whole thing more cohesive and more your style.

Loved the vid! Congrats and thank you for sharing! Appreciate the work that you put in to let us in to your life and creating lovely vids, can’t wait to see the decorating/moving journey. My design suggestion is frosted/opaque glass in the toilet window, light still gets in but you have privacy without having to put a blind down every time you use the toilet or end up with it hanging down the whole time. With love!
@itsbittersweetest4 жыл бұрын
I love the windows, like ours, we choose to do different window treatments mainly dressing the lower windows. For example, we have a shutter in one room. Cafe curtains for privacy, yet it totally allows for full light exposure! In our office we have stained glass on the bottom which continues the privacy but allows light! For texture we do have valances which we mounted ceiling height to accentuate the windows. You will have so much fun making this your own!

Cute house! It’s a very nice layout. While the garage is still clean, you might considering getting epoxied floors in there. Garages floor can get grungy and stained over time. An epoxy coating makes them easy to clean. :)

Buying a new house is SOOO exciting! Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you!! We just bought our first house in September and it's such a fun ride! I made a chuckle when you said you'll actually be using your garage for your car! I'm in total agreement! My husband and I put ours in the garage (It's winter in Montreal and it has snowed a few times this year so it's amazing!). There are houses in my neighbourhood with double garages and 3 or 4 cars parked in the driveway. When I take my 7a.m. morning walk around my area after it has snowed, my neighbours with garages but cars parked on the driveway have to scrape the snow off their cars. It's also odd here because people pay for snow removal service for their driveways BUT they have their 3 cars parked in the driveway. What's the point?! Hehe! Happy decorating, organisation, setting things up and all that fun stuff! It is the best being able to make a space your own!

I really like the style of American houses. Here in Europe (Germany) we don't have extra rooms for washing, closets or storage. We have to put extra shelves and cupboards into the main rooms, so nothing is packed away like in Amarican homes. Washing mashines are usually in the kitchen or the bathroom if there is enough space and the clothes have to dry on a portable reck in the living room, if you dont have a cellar or garden, where you can install a reck permanently. Thanks for this great home tour! I am very excited for you both :)

Such a pretty home!! Love the doors and the cabinets and the whole kitchen! Also I'm from Germany and what I like about American homes is that you have built in closets, that's so useful, we don't have that and need to get separate furniture. What I don't like or find weird are your stoves cause you have to reach over the stuff you're cooking to turn the stove on and off, isn't that kind of inconvenient?
@nataliehennessey51874 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on the stove- for homes that have natural gas or propane stoves the knobs are often on the front, but electric stoves like this one often on the back of the range! Also, it's funny how different regions do things differently- I find having the knobs on the front a hazard- I bump into them and turn them on too often!
@valeriehowden4714 жыл бұрын
@@nataliehennessey5187 just bought a new electric stove and the controls are in the front. You have to push them in to turn them on and it is an induction stove that shuts off the heat if no pot is on top. Lots more safety features than the old versions.
@nataliehennessey51874 жыл бұрын
@@valeriehowden471 That's so interesting! I've never seen one with the control on the front- but I also haven't been looking! Thanks for sharing!
@sarahm25664 жыл бұрын
You can usually get them either place, depending on the model. We had them on the back on our previous stove, so wee hands couldn’t turn it on. Now that we don’t have small children at home, our new stove has the knobs in front
@martaszymanska81914 жыл бұрын
In Poland knobs are usually in the front in both gas and electric Stones, but I got one that has knobs on the side do little kids woudn't reach it and I think its the best option 😉

Your new house is beautiful! I like the simplicity of it. Hint: if you want the rooms to look large, hang your curtains all the way to the top, and I use all white in each room of my apartment. It really makes a difference. Just like your white kitchen, white curtains, hanging all the way to the top of the wall, will keep your house bright and cheerful.
