I think it's a good idea to buy locally as much as possible, because it'll help your local relationships. But you can ask the local guys to get as close to the competitive prices as possible

True, so far all I’ve bought is local, but the amount of rebar I need and the price difference is significantly less in the nearby city so I def want to save on that

Yes it’s great, watch my KZbin short and it shows how it went from paper to the preliminary stages then to the final blueprint. But build it on a laptop/computer- on a cell phone the app is not very good. It also does a free 3D render for you. I will be making a full video on it so subscribe - thanks!

How much time do you spend on-site to monitor progress? Where do you stay while there?

It’s important to make a blue print and learn all the materials it will take to get it done - step by step- and do 1 part at a time. So like when they did the foundation, I bought all the materials and we marked out all the walls and they did all the digging and concrete work- I wasn’t even there for that. When they finished then I paid them. Similar to in the states, you usually don’t pay a contractor up front so it’s up to them to finish the job to specs before they get paid

How can I come up with step 1? I don't know where to begin in terms of design and floor plan. All I know is I want a 4 bedroom/3 bath, walk in pantry, walk in closets, laundry room, fireplace, central heating and AC, plenty of storage. With a yard to grow herbs and fruit trees and a jacuzzi. I also want a Casita in the back for my mom, or attached private suit for her, whichever is easier to build. So I know what I want, but where do I begin, how do I know how to build each room and what material?

why are you deciding to build in mexico?

It’s significantly cheaper to build and the cost of living and monthly utilities is also very low. I want to retire early so that’s why.

@JosePresents ,the cost of living here in Ciudad Acuña Coahuila Mexico is way cheaper than the neighbor city of Del rio Texas and I'm paying about 350 dollars for everything for the entire month and I have home internet and internet service for our smart phones
