While taking a relaxing , afternoon stroll past Mt' Lofty Station, Lord Stan stumbles across an interesting development on the other side of the tracks!
From the opening line of famous Australian bush poet "Banjo Patterson's" iconic "Man from Snowy River" ...there was movement at the station......
Join Lord Stan as he brings us up to date on Gregg's grand plans.....

Great stuff, Gregg! Been going to Mount Lofty for nearly 20 years now. Dad & I have parked in that block more times than I could count and to see it getting a second life away from the original railway owners and in your hands is awesome. It looks great, and it's awesome to see a bit of progress every time I drop by for a train. Looking forward to the finished product and hopefully being invited over to see the layout! Thanks Matt! Who would of thought that my 2016 trip to stay at Mt Lofty station would end up like this...LOL That trip is costing me a fortune, but I love Stirling and the Hills and it feels like home to me , so it's worth every penny! That land was destined for a railfan to own , so I feel privileged to have it and it has to have the right house on it. And what do you mean "visit" the layout....you're helping me build the blood thing...LOL. Its great to have all the history from past and present rail fans, and I will keep that going in the future. More updates coming in a few months hopefully? Cheers Gregg;

Hello, Lord Stan. I have two questions. My first one is has the Australian ever taken the time to remove all of the invasive species of flora and fauna that the British introduced to the continent centuries ago? If not, how come? My second question is why hasn't the Australian government invested in building any high speed rail lines like countries in East Asia or Europe have? Please also give my regards to Gregg as well? Cheers, Joe.

@@smokeyjoe1034 We tried with rabbits and a few others, but now it's down to controlling the numbers. Just like the USA , HSR is very expensive and we have a huge country with a small population. Regards passed on to Lord Stan. Gregg.

@@FishplateFilms Australia and the US are large countries, but so is China, and they have a high speed rail network. The US has a high speed train called the Acela, but it doesn't run at "high speed" along much of it's route on The Northeastern Corridor. Thanks.

Looks great, can’t wait to see the footings and foundation (North America). The more solid the base is the less issues, trust me, I have seen some major issues in the Mountains. So where is the water going to drain? By the tracks or the road? Can’t wait to see the progress Gregg, Cheers from snowy Nebraska Terry.
@FishplateFilms
@FishplateFilms 5 ай бұрын
Thanks Terry! That's why I'm doing it now and letting it sit while I find a builder. It will be over a year until I start building , so it will be well settled by then , especially with the rain in winter. The water runs mainly to the lower left hand side , looking at the station , and some goes down to the platform. I've been her many times in heavy rain and it drains well and dries quickly🙂. More news later this year. Stay warm Sir. Gregg.

Hay stranger...lovely to hear from you! Water will be fine as it will drain around the house and down to the lowest point at the neighbours fence to a council stormwater drain. I did wan it on posts, but my architect didn't like that ... I'm paranoid about termites so I may build a steel frame? Lots of updates in the future when the build finally starts! Hope you have been well 🙂 Gregg

cutting the slope back so that it is backfilled evenly over the whole slab is the only way to do it. cutting from one corner to fill up the other corner will always cause grief. no amount of compacting can equal the natural compaction. do you have access to crushed sandy limestone like we have here in perth? i have been amazed at how well it works. it never puddles and when used for roadwork it just gets harder and harder as time goes on.
@FishplateFilms
@FishplateFilms 5 ай бұрын
Yes indeed , I prefer to cut more and fill less, within reason of course. The pads will sit for over a year now , in the rain and hopefully will be solid by the time the slabs go down. The drive has been done with something similar , but was finished after I left so I haven't see it , but I think it is limestone. Thanks for watching! Gregg
