I have an older walker, which I am still using. It has a center button to release and fold in the legs/sides. I like it because I can use one hand to do that task and fold in the legs and have the other hand to hang onto something, keeping my balance. I think of getting another walker but I don’t see any with that center button release and I’m hesitant to try the newfangled designs.

I noticed the wheels on your sliver walker are not paired in similar positions. My home physical therapist noticed I was banging the walker wheel into the door jam or turning a corner of a wall. She removed the wheels and positioned them on inside of the wheel posts.

I notice one wheel is on the inside of the leg on one walker you are demonstrating. I have an narrow doorway to go through. Can I move the wheels to the inside to get through easier?

Yes, you can move the wheels to the inside of the frame to fit through a narrow doorway.

At the angle I'm looking at the walker don't look like you can move the wheel to the inside, I could be wrong though.

Walking with the blue walker is the exact same as walking with the silver walker. The only difference is that the skis on the back of the silver walker help it to slide better. Without skis (or tennis balls), you just need to be more mindful when pulling the walker back, otherwise the demonstration of walking with the two walkers would look the same.

@@MovementFunction My blue walker seems to be getting stuck. It seems uneven. Several years ago a friend loaned me her silver walker and it was smoother. Maybe I have a defective walker.

@@tg-ik5pf Yes, it could be defective or it could have a loose screw. If it is still relatively new, you might be able to return it. If not, it would be worth replacing for a new walker that works well and safely.

I have a Bariatric walker without the ski things on. I like my walker my cat not so much, but he is slowly adjusting 😂.

1. Why are you advising keeping elbows straight instead of the ergonomic 20-30 deg flexed? 2. If both legs are weak and one bears weight on the arms seeking greater support, is it not impossible to maintain erect posture? Except for taking one step at a time, bearing weight with arms to support one leg, how use a walker for support when both legs weak? thanks.

How do you walk with a walker with no weight bearing and your leg must be at a 90 degree angle?

You would move the walker forward a few inches, lead forward, press straight down through the handles and step (mini hop) forward on the weight-bearing leg, landing between the rear posts. All while keeping the non-weight-bearing leg off the ground (I assume you mean your knee has to be flexed/bent 90 degrees).
