It's a little inconvenient. But a possible workaround could be to buy a USB disk drive that plug into your Mac, and then play your content thru the Mac using the Vision Pro handoff feature that allows you to display your Mac's display inside of vision OS as a separate display. As far as im aware you can still make the size of the window impressively large and use the immersive environments feature by doing it this way.

Remember like the Apple Watch, there will be another keynote prior to the release of this headset. They will more than likely answer a lot of the looming questions then. WWDC, they just wanted to get this thing in front of developers.

The battery pack has a usb c to plug in for power. I wonder if that doubles as a pass through to hook up a dongle to connect other devices.

The solution your looking for is a NAS …. And you could copy the blue ray content over to your network attached storage and access it via your headsets native file manager… itvv v will still be streamed but streaming locally you might have to use your computer and a app like handbrake that can convert the disc format over to phone /computer friendly format but that is going to be your best bet I assume vision pro is going to be a wireless focused device we still don’t even have disk drives back in computers you need to get a external blue ray /dvd rom reader

Yeah that will probably be the best way but hopefully we’ll get a hardware solution.

I imagine it will have storage tiers. Hopefully the base model is 512GB. They may also have a Visio Max or Visio Ultra with the m3 at a higher price. Or if they really see this as a developer machine then they may only produce one version in the first few years to simplify manufacturing. But, never underestimate their ability to monetize.

Hopefully it starts at 512 or 1 TB. I mean it is $3500!! I know Apple gear is expensive, but hopefully they will find some kindness and give their first buyers 1TB 😀

As far as 3rd party streaming services are concerned, they will be available by default on the vision pro as a compatible ipad app which is absolutely fine for media watching app. Some of them may take advantage of the vision pro with a native app that delevers a better watching experience alongside content that can only play on the headset like 3d movies ...and so far Disney plus has been confirmed to be the first of these streaming services to do so on launch day.

More exciting is that avatar 2 demo’s was high frame rate…this opens up the possibility of Gemini man, Billy Lynn Titanic Remastered, Avatar Remastered and Hobbit in HFR 3D as well…something that hasn’t been possible using the blu ray 3D spec. Wohoo

Yep, I currently have a 150in Home Theater with a 1080P Epson 2250 projector since 2020. Next upgrade to 4k won't be a projector, I'd rather get the Apple Vision Pro. Apple Music

Do you know the Cinerama style movies in the 1970s? Today, there are almost no theaters in the world that can screen movies in this way. So I was hoping I could reproduce it with Apple Vision Pro. However, it seems that it is not possible. Cinerama has a narrower viewing range than panorama, but it is displayed on a curved screen, creating a sense of immersion in the image. There is a theater specializing in Cinerama called Theater Tokyo, and I saw "Ben-Hur" there. In particular, the horse-drawn carriage race scene was spectacular. I want to see that scene again, so I really hope Apple realizes the projection in Cinerama. If Apple is not interested in Cinerama screenings, why not have Sony, a micro-OLED supplier, partner with Cinerama to have Sony make a product that can project Cinerama on Cinerama screening? First of all thank you for the translation. 😁 I hadn't heard about this style of cinema so I took a quick read of the Wikipedia page. It looks very interesting and I would like to experience it myself to get the effect. It would be interesting if someone, Apple or another company, took the time to recreate the original format/aspect ratios of early films because filmmakers were really experimenting. I'm sure someone within the companies want to do this but the company decides against it because the market may not be large enough to make profits. Per the Wikipedia Paul Allen purchased a Cinema in Seattle in 1998 and in 2008 "How The West Was Won" blu-ray recreated the style. So there is still interest in the format and hopefully there is a small company out there trying to make it a reality once again. Apple wants to offer services that other companies basically can't match. Expect to see Apple concerts (part of Apple Music), Apple sports (they already have the MLS contract and will bid for others), Apple fitness (probably already being filmed as they have the service in a studio in Santa Monica), AppleTV+ (original content of TV and Movies), Apple Arcade (AAA games studio that Apple will own). Probably many other possibilities. My guess is those subscribing or buying in the case of concerts will have their choice of different points of view in the software. For concerts front row, higher up in the arena, sitting among the band, backstage. In this way the services will convince people to buy the headset and future version of Vision products. Remember, Apple already has an active installed base of 2 billion devices. This kind of content will look great in 2d and even better in 3d. The point of all this is for Apple is to have the best headsets and content and get to 50 million Vision units sold annually by 5th to 7th year.

They said you can use it as secondary display for a MacBook. Instantly thought…what if you could play a movie in your Mac, HDMI from Mac to AVR. High quality projector size screen with actual Atmos setup. Best of both worlds? 🤔Bit janky and not the most smoothest of UX and latency could be an issue but would be cool if this is possible/viable.

Much too complicated. Just plugin a Apple TV to your projector. Use AirPods for sound. Works fine, if you don’t want to disturb someone.

Maybe what we need is Blu-ray and dvd players that have a reverse cast feature the apple products like vision pro could use. Set a passcode in the device, then no need to plug it in via hdmi, just power it on and reverse cast to it, controlling it and streaming the video in real time from it.

Interesting, have the player "airplay" it to the googles. 🤔 My only concern is video fidelity, how much fidelity would we loose as we move farther away from the player?

@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I think that would depend on your WiFi router, and if not streaming on your local network, then your upload speeds. But consider you only need 15Mbps to stream 4K Netflix and such, and many of us I believe have home internet well above that. Certainly most WiFi home networks can handle that amount of traffic locally with ease.

You will have to pay again for 3D with higher resolution. I think, there is no way to convert your 3D Blu-ray disk for your Vision Pro. Quality will be poor too.

Having bought quite a lot of movies from Apple i was happily surprised when a lot of my library was upgraded to 4K HDR Dolby Atmos when Apple upgraded it on their store. So fingers crossed the 3D version of a movie I already own will be afree upgrade too.

Old movies will be visible in 2D on a flat surface, exactly as they were made. You can’t be in their midst. Watching new content for Vision Pro will be like the Pensieve in Harry Potter series.

I can guarantee they will not do an hdmi in. They might do camera input via thunderbolt, but even that is a long shot unless this takes off as a general compute platform. Take that older content and rip it to files and there will be video player iPad apps on day one.

Couldn't you just rip your private DVDs to your computer and then set up a PLEX server and just stream them to the headset? I did that with over 200 DVD's and then just pcked them away in boxes and put them in my loft as they were taking up too much room.

IMAX uses a huge flat screen without using curved screen, and already exceeds the screens of the Cinerama Theater Tokyo in terms of vertical and horizontal size. Therefore, I went to see the latest IMAX in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, but I didn't have the immersion of Cinerama at all, and I felt that it was flat and useless no matter how big the screen was. Therefore, I think it would be best for IMAX to adopt curved screen. Sony has already released a screen with curved micro LEDs with 16K resolution on a trial basis, so it should be possible to play Cinerama right away, but it seems that it will not be done because it is not expected to be profitable. It is very unfortunate.

The Apple Vision One is going to be better and that comes out the end of next year with probably with the same screen as the psvr2 as the pro screen is made by Sony so that would be the next logical step but I am more excited with the Quest 3 as that already has a lot of AR apps and games already and it’s $3000 cheaper and Meta is the 1st company with this type of device and they update a lot so the features will grow rapidly and I don’t think apple would be able to keep up

I’m curious about the Quest 3 too! In general I think Apple can keep up with Meta from an app development standpoint. The thing that may slow down development is they won’t have a huge number of vision pros out there because of price, if they release a cheaper version sooner rather than later they’ll get more adoption so more money for developers.

@@HomeTheaterHobbyist they are releasing vision one the end of next year apparently and by then they would have been demolished by the sales of the Meta Quest 3 and the PlayStation VR 2 and with no VR games and the fact that Meta Owns Instagram and What’s App is going to be a bit difficult for the next 5-6 years as all Meta and Sony will do is have more and more market share as they already have a customer base apps and games that are already established and then there’s Nintendo which I think might disrupt things even further as I believe they will re enter the market with a Switch 2 AR/VR headset as well

There will be no legal way to stream your blu-rays to your Vision Pro. I record successfully a 3D-Blu-ray with a Canon R5C with Dual Fisheye lens through 3D glasses. It works but it makes no sense. It will be make much more sense to produce or watch VR180 (3d) or VR360 (2d) content for fully immersive view. But good quality content is rare. In case of the R5C: 8k 60fps is not enough resolution for the Vision Pro OLED displays. You get only HD resolution in your field of view. Field of view will be around 105 degree horizontal. This will not look sharp.
