There were 2 more Walking Dead actors in this besides Andrea, Dale and Carol. Two of the soldiers: one was Morales from S1 and he showed up later in the series (S8?) and met up with Rick. The other soldier, who got pushed outside, was the corpse in the tank with Rick in the very first episode of the show.

What a powerful ending. It has to be the most tragically bitter sweet moment I've ever seen in a movie. Of course it's a good thing that everyone is being saved, but almost unanimously, we're all horrified by it.

There's absolutely nothing bittersweet about the ending. It's just bitter. Perhaps you mean a different word.
@firegod001
@firegod001 10 ай бұрын
@@paulonius42 Nope. That's the term I meant, and I even spelled it out for the not so bright. Hopefully you're just having an off day, because you didn't even comprehend it when it's spelled out. The sweet part is that everyone is being saved. The bitter part is that once everyone is saved, the tragic deed is so much more tragic. Try harder, but thanks for playing, sporty.
@paulonius42
@paulonius42 10 ай бұрын
@firegod001 The entire movie is from the viewpoint of the father, so the ending is completely bitter. That is how drama works and has always worked. We follow the emotions of the protagonist, in this case the father whose story has a bitter ending. There is no sweetness for him. Also, we don't know that everyone is being saved, we have no idea how much of the Mist and its creatures have been pushed back by the military. All we know is that the protagonist just killed four people including his own child just moments before they would have been saved. For all we know, he could be the only person left alive that the military saves anywhere. The bigger picture, the outside world, does not matter to the emotional story of this movie. The father, the protagonist, has a completely bitter ending. Your lack of media literacy, dramatic literacy, and basic courtesy show that you probably should get off your high horse and try learning something.

It is bitter… but no less valid an ending than any other. Generally I like happy endings but so many movies present terribly bleak situations and then force a quick, sometimes highly unlikely, happy ending. I’ve rolled my eyes at quite a few endings like that! Those types of movies make it actually refreshing to see a realistically grim, and sad, ending for once. And it’s not just shocking, it also makes you think, and imparts some lessons of its own. The consequences are so impactful that you can’t sit back and say “all’s well that ends well” and just move on and forget about it. The late great Rod Serling would’ve loved it.

This movies does an extremely amazing job at portraying how primitive people are, and in a dire situation when and where everyone is scared and it looks like there is no hope, them people will turn to anyone or anything that offers a solution, with the religion cult stuff. This movie does an extremely good job at portraying the realistic aspect of that.

I hope these "as we go" helps 1. In context it is similar to what King did with The Stand except in this case it's monsters and not a virus. 2. Jeffery DeMunn is known as a favorite of director Frank Darabont, who has cast him in all four of his films: "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), "The Green Mile" (1999), and "The Mist" (2007). All King adaptations. He was also in what King himself says "Storm of the Century" was such a good screenplay that he adapted into a book. 3. William Sadler also was in "Shawshank" and "The Green Mile". 4. Frances Sternhagen was in "Misery" by King. 5. Marcia Gay Harden kills it. 6.King wanted to play the big guy that goes out with the rope around his waist "brass balls" but Darabont shot him down. 7. This is not how the book ends. Darabont wanted this ending. King later said that as horrific that it is he likes it better. What makes this ending more devastating is he has to live with it the rest of his life 🥵 8. The picture of the cowboy is an Easter egg from King's "Dark Tower series 9. The cool thing about this story is, since the creatures are from a different dimension, they could be anything. 10. Stephen King. You're welcome.

@Cbricklyne
@Cbricklyne 10 ай бұрын
Thomas Jane had actually been cast to play Rick Grimes and was all set to play the role until scheduling issues prevented him from doing so and forced him to pull out at the last minute and the studio was forced to bring in the second choice for the role who wasn't even auditioned because Darabont was so dead-set on Thomas Jane being the Rick Grimes that he never bothered to audition anyone else. Still, the studio had set Andew Lincoln as the backup just in case, and in this case it actually turned out to be a good idea since they did need a back up, and Lincoln caught a last minute flight to Atlanta to take the role without any preparation at all, and the rest is history.

That ending though, am I right ladies? Lol.. I love this movie, but that ending has haunted me & sooo many other people for years, or so I hear.. In the book version, it's left kinda open-ended as to what happens to them, they just run outta gas & ponder things for a while.. But they did this version to give the film a gut-wrench & it SO works.. Stephen King loved the new ending & was quoted as saying something along the lines of "people who go & see this in theaters & then go & ruin it by telling others before they've had a chance to see it should all be lined up & shot".. 😂😂 Kinda extreme, but I see where he was coming from, bc I love watching reactions to this for that very reason.. To see the visceral sickening reactions of reactors when they realize what they just witnessed.. It takes me back to my first time seeing it, & I'm just as yucky feeling today as I was back then tbh, lol. King came up with the idea of this btw one day when he was in a supermarket following a thunderstorm & imagined giant prehistoric insects & animals attacking the place he was in & went home & started on it. Love that. Lol.❤ Thank you for watching this, girls..✌🏻

Sadly, Stephen King gets credit for the movie ending. That's the writer & director Frank Darabont. He told the studio execs. that he would only do the movie as long as they leave his version of the ending in the movie. King's short novel ending has Drayton & son making it to a hotel off of the highway with a radio broadcasting the Emergency Channel announcing a "Safe Area" from the Mist at so and so town. Which is a typical Stephen King ending by being a letdown. This is why the movie is far superior than the original source material like Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining.

The artist was finishing a painting of The Gunslinger.. another Stephen King book series. Please don't react to the awful movie they made of it though! 😂😂

The ending didn't impact me the same way, cause it made no sense to me. I'd understand if a horrible monster was getting into the car and he killed them so they'd at least die quickly (cause people die instantly from a single gunshot in movies), but... nothing was happening. They were sitting on the road, silence outside and he just pre-emptively kills them..? Just in CASE something would at some point get into the car..? Come on... I need a tragic thing to make sense, for it to make me emotional. It's like if a character falls down while monsters are after them and we can clearly see them having plenty of time to get up and keep running, but instead they just lay there for ½ an eternity, screaming and waiting to get killed. That just makes me irritated instead of sad, especially if I liked the character. Basically, I just hear the directors screaming in my face "FEEL SAD! Please..? COME OOON!" It doesn't feel authentic at all. If only they'd had a monster attack the car, almost getting in and he tries to shoot it but it... idk deflects bullets or whatever and THEN he uses the last bullets to kill the others in mercy, just before the army arrives and kills the monster. That would've taken it from "psh..." to tear-jerkingly emotional for me, cause they actually WOULD have been mercy kills, as opposed to "eh, just in case"-kills.

they didn´t know what was coming to kill them, why wait for some horrible death when you can just end it quickly?

My first time watching your channel… I like each of you, and your reactions, and commentary! Constant switching of the presentation, however… I have to say that I think it’s awful to watch. Sorry to say that but please consider it constructive feedback… not meant as an insult.

Welcome to our channel! Thank you for the feedback! Constructive Criticism is always welcome! We have been adapting to different editing techniques over the years. KZbin's copyright blocks are rough, so we can only show 4 seconds of copyright content at a time. Otherwise, the video gets blocked and rejected when disputed. We tried just blacking out the Movie window every 4 seconds, but many thought that was very distracting too. If you have a reaction channel that has a fun editing method for movie reactions, please send us a link so we can learn a new style. Thanks for being a fan and for your input!
