As a fan of ALL the King Kong movies, I just wanted to pay homage to a movie I have enjoyed through the years since childhood. I would love to do a proper documentary on this one day... The movie is currently available on Paramount DVD in the USA and region-free internationally on Bluray by Studio Canal. Hoping a collector's edition will turn up one day. This is a fan made trailer with reviews from the time. I understand the movie has its detractors but it deserves some appreciation too. So, please just have fun with it. Hope you enjoy.

It is a modern remake of the 1933 film of the same name about a giant ape that is captured and imported to New York City for exhibition. Featuring special effects by Carlo Rambaldi, it stars Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin and Jessica Lange in her first film role.
The remake's screenplay was written by Lorenzo Semple Jr., based on the 1933 screenplay by James Ashmore Creelman and Ruth Rose, and from the original idea by Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Wallace.
The film was the fifth highest-grossing film of 1977 according to box office statistics compiled during its release by Variety.[3] It won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and was also nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Sound.

One of my favorite films ever!!! True story this was the very first non animated film I ever saw in a theater upon it's initial release in 1976. I was only 3years old but I remember it so vividly!! I was changed forever and caught up in its magic!! Kong became a favorite of mine and made me love motion pictures with monsters and fantasy. You did an unbelievable job with this. I cannot believe this movie remains underrated. It was huge in 1976 and huge again on network television as a two night feature film. This of course was an era before any vcr so the family all planned to be home those two nights to watch it again!!! I had waited over 2 years since its theater run to see if again. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane!!! I'm off to pop in my DVD copy right now!!

You can get the International Blu-Ray and it will play on most US players. I linked it below - it looks a little costly these days, but check eBay too.
