One element from the movie that resonates with me is that even though Morticia was almost in physical pain reading Cat in the Hat, she did whatever she thought would please her ''different'' child. Even though he wasn't the ''Addams'' they were used to, they refused to not love him and raise him the best they could. Morticia and Gomez are honestly amazing. Little 5 year old me noticed and appreciated it.

Fun fact about Raul Julia. His father “introduced “ pizza to Puerto Rico and started this pizza restaurant called La Cueva (the Cave). The restaurant looks like a cave inside, dimly lit, walls look like rocks. On the wall behind a table there is a picture of Raul Julia and a plaque with some of his info and how he always came to the restaurant after school sat at that table and did his homework. It’s a really old school place and the pizza is the best I have ever had. I am from PR so I grew up on that pizza so maybe I’m a bit biased....just thought to share that tidbit

Addams Family Values was better than the original entirely because they brought in Paul Rudnick to write it. He also wrote In & Out, Sister Act, and the spectacular Jeffrey (which should definitely be a future retro review candidate). Something I notices while re-watching this was that every single scene ends with a punchline.

Wild Wild West is one of those movies for me at least where it’s so bad that it somehow transcends into this guilty pleasure ethereal realm. That’s mostly because of Kevin Kline and Kenneth Brennaugh. Not that Will Smith is bad, but he wasn’t quite the right kind of ham for the the feel the movie was going for, but he has his moments. “That....is a man’s.....heeeeeeeaaaaaaad.”

Loved this movie. I always thought it was better than the first. Piggybacking off of the passion and respect that Morticia and Gomez shared, something I LOVED about Morticia that you never mentioned, was that she was never threatened by Debbie as this beautiful busty nanny coming in. It was never once mentioned because it was just known that Gomez would never stray and Morticia trusts him implicitly. I loved that they had such a wonderful relationship with each other and they treated their children as intelligent capable young people, yes they are children and they needed guidance, but they never treated them as stupid or talked down to them.

I can't recommend The Lizzie Borden Chronicles enough! Christina Ricci murders her way through town in increasingly bloody and wacky ways and you can tell she's having an absolute ball. It's well worth a watch.

So fun facts, pugsley’s name was original going to be pubert (a play on puberty) back when the tv series was created but censors nixed that. Also the guy who plays pugsley is Ariel winter’s older brother. Also something that the movies canonized that fester was originally morticia’s uncle but the first movie changed it to Gomez’s brother because it worked better and it honestly does. Also Raul Julia has said of all the roles he ever played, this was his favorite because he loved children reacting to him and he started acting because he wanted to make kids happy and that made him happy.

This movie is ICONIC and I was obsessed with both this one and the first one. Just as a heads up though, they did make another addams family movie - it was TERRIBLE. They replaced pretty much all the actors except for Lurch. Its called Addams Family Reunion.
