One thing that frustrated me, their new dinosaur with mixed dna is another raptor yet again! Seriously when you make a super dinosaur why not give them a T-rex head, ankylosaurus's spiky armored body, raptor intelligence and claws, stegosaurus's tail etc. Go nuts with the design, make it look like one of those combo dinosaurs kids love to draw in their drawing books.

Bob, I think your complaint on Bruce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt’s character’s in this “Not being a joke anymore” and “things still being the same”, is more stemmed from the first Jurassic World not having as much of the meta narrative as you originally claimed. Which is part of why I hated the first one, because I don’t think those two characters are supposed to be cartoons. They’re just poorly written IMO, and the one the audience is explicitly supposed to sympathise with and root for (Pratt) is unlikeable and misogynistic, and the one the movie goes out of its way to villainise (Howard) isn’t really that unlikeable.
@samaelmalkira94206 жыл бұрын
Was gonna say, Colin Trevorrow really doesn't seem smart enough to be self-aware like that. If his track record has proven anything it's that he's pretty mediocre. Worst thing you could have done for a genuinely creative indie director like J. A. Bayona is make him play by Colin's shit-show of a script
@XanderVJ6 жыл бұрын
Nah, I'd say both Pratt and Howard's characters are equally unlikable. And although it's true that the film makes more fun of Howard's character, "villainaise" is not the word I'd use. She's not portrayed as a villanesque character. Just stuck up her own ass.
@RearAdmiralNashiba6 жыл бұрын
I'll second this as being a sizable problem with World 1. Having characters that are less character and more type isn't unknown to the franchise, and to Crichton's works as a whole, but the job of the narrative is render those types into relatable, entertaining, or even just watchable specimens.
@NidorinoAlliance6 жыл бұрын
RealAdmirableNashiba That is a good point. Because I honestly don’t have a problem with characters that are just archetypes on principle. But they just aren’t likeable or charming enough. I honestly do like Howard’s character more than other people, but I feel like the movie tries to put her as this nagging bitch just to make you like Pratt for “putting her in her place” or some shit, so I end up hating them when they’re together. The one character I found genuinely likeable in the last one was Jake Johnson, but that’s more from his charisma transcending the shit script.
@drawingconclusions34896 жыл бұрын
Owen and Claire are actually both much more likable than in Jurassic World, which is one of the things this movie has going for it. I actually liked Fallen Kingdom better than Jurassic World, up until about the last 10 minutes. I basically agree with all those points. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they wrap up the island stuff. Pratt gets a good weird physical comedy scene. But the off-island stuff does feel like a big pulled punch to setup the fun stuff for Colin Trevorrow in Jurassic World 3. Also the climatic encounter at the end was kinda meh, the new Dino wasn't that interesting though I did like the callback shot to the raptors in the kitchen scene from the original.

Turning dinosaurs into soldiers is one of those ideas that sounds incredibly cool in an action figurey sort of way, like if it happened in a G.I. Joe movie I would be completely onboard with it. But in this franchise the attempt to make dinosaur soldiers always ends badly and most of the time ends with the very people who want to have dinosaur soldiers getting eaten by the dinosaurs.

You know, the obvious next step for this franchise, and Dr. Wu[sp], is to start making Human/Dino hybrids, they would have all the intelligence and controllability of a person, with many of the 'buffs' of a dinosaur. But then that would take it way too close to some of the campy sci-fi movies of the past, wouldn't it?
@OriginalNeomoon6 жыл бұрын
I fell asleep.
@jasonpratt51266 жыл бұрын
No, Site B probably still exists. What does impress me is that they're reaaallly trying to go for the insane militarized dino plot which JP4 was originally posited as.
@LupineShadowOmega6 жыл бұрын
That part. It is a very stupid idea. Especially in our current world of drones and robots getting better everyday. So of course the only recourse the military has are trained animals that a single one probably costs double what they'd pay for a dozen drones or robots that could actively be piloted by humans and not eat you if they go rogue.
@jasonpratt51266 жыл бұрын
What makes that military training concept even more insane, is that the villains keep acting like they've got this covered, these things obey commands, WHEN ALL THE EVIDENCE SHOWS THEY DON'T (or barely do). It's so overtly dumb and wrong that it breaks immersion. Of course the original JP4 concept involved dino-human hybrids (which maybe we're getting to in future films after all), and started with trained hybrids already in play, so at least there would have been proof-of-concept to go on.
@LupineShadowOmega6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. That's also pretty silly, but at the very least it would have more to back it up than just a strange idea that hasn't shown itself to be worth it in any fashion.

Here is my Jurassic Franchise criticism. Look at a tiger, look at a lion, look at a cheetah, look at a panther, look at a puma, look at a jaguar: Now think of a how they are all just cats, but all have their own mood and place they would prefer to kill you in. Not to mention their different colors and furs. Now, imagine if T-rex, allosaurous, spinosaurus, carnosaurous, and raptors got the same variety of colors and variety of killing environments to hunt you down in. If I can think of the epic run for my life from a heard of wildebeest vs being trapped in a house with a rabid elephant, surely these jurassic franchise films could come up with something more creative than "Remember the raptor? Yeah he's cool".
