CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Moses (Charlton Heston) brings the Ten Commandments from the mountain only to find his people worshipping an idol.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the Holy Scriptures, with additional dialogue by several other hands, The Ten Commandments was the last film directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The story relates the life of Moses, from the time he was discovered in the bullrushes as an infant by the pharoah's daughter, to his long, hard struggle to free the Hebrews from their slavery at the hands of the Egyptians. Moses (Charlton Heston) starts out "in solid" as Pharoah's adopted son (and a whiz at designing pyramids, dispensing such construction-site advice as "Blood makes poor mortar"), but when he discovers his true Hebrew heritage, he attempts to make life easier for his people. Banished by his jealous half-brother Rameses (Yul Brynner), Moses returns fully bearded to Pharoah's court, warning that he's had a message from God and that the Egyptians had better free the Hebrews post-haste if they know what's good for them. Only after the Deadly Plagues have decimated Egypt does Rameses give in. As the Hebrews reach the Red Sea, they discover that Rameses has gone back on his word and plans to have them all killed. But Moses rescues his people with a little Divine legerdemain by parting the Seas. Later, Moses is again confronted by God on Mt. Sinai, who delivers unto him the Ten Commandments. Meanwhile, the Hebrews, led by the duplicitous Dathan (Edward G. Robinson), are forgetting their religion and behaving like libertines. "Where's your Moses now?" brays Dathan in the manner of a Lower East Side gangster. He soon finds out. DeMille's The Ten Commandments may not be the most subtle and sophisticated entertainment ever concocted, but it tells its story with a clarity and vitality that few Biblical scholars have ever been able to duplicate. It is very likely the most eventful 219 minutes ever recorded to film--and who's to say that Nefertiri (Anne Baxter) didn't make speeches like, "Oh, Moses, Moses, you splendid, stubborn, adorable fool"?

I'm sorry but it's not true. It is a lie of Hollywood. Neither the LORD nor Moshey ever said those words. On the contrary - the Bible says that the Law is bondage, a bondage that we are free from through Messiah Yeshua. If you believe in the LORD then you should not watch movies like these. They twist the words of the LORD!

Jon Jones then why do other “Christians” (they do not deserve that title) see our father a cruel, O.C.D like control freak cruel king? When he is a compassionate, pure loving man, who sent his son not to re claim what is his, he dose not see us as a rear piece of jewels, but we are his kids, children he wants to love, in harmony. We are not seen like Worshiping jewels he wants to re claim, but we are like children been tortured by that evil, twisted Lucifer, and he sent his son one with himself to save our souls and have us back into his compassionate, harmony of welcoming arms. Why do other Christians don’t see him this way though?

And we took the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came to a people who were devoted to their idols. They said, They said, “O Moses, make for us a god as they have gods.” So they came, i.e., they passed by a people who were devoted to their idols, i.e., they resided there, sought blessings from them, and worshiped them. So they said, because of their ignorance and foolishness of their Prophet Moses, after God showed them of the verses what He showed them, O Moses, make for us a god as they have gods, meaning: legislate for us to take idols as gods as they took them We crossed the sea with the Children of Israel, so they passed by a people who lived and continued to worship their idols. The Children of Israel said: Make for us, Moses, an idol that we worship and that we take as a deity, just as these people have idols that they worship. Moses said to them: You people do not know the greatness of God, and you do not know that worship does not It should only be for God, the One, the Omnipotent. And We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and We completed them with ten, so the appointed times of his Lord were fulfilled. forty nights And Moses said to his brother Aaron, Replace me in my people, and do righteousness, and do not follow the path of the corruptors. And the people of Moses, after him, took from their ornaments a calf, a body bellowing Did they not see that He does not speak to them and does not guide them to a way that they took, and they were wrongdoers? And when Musa returned to his people angry and sad, he said, “How wretched you have left me after me. Have you hastened the command of your Lord.” And he cast the tablets and took the head of his brother, dragging him to him. Ibn Umm said: “The people weakened me and almost killed me. So do not let the enemies gloat over me, and do not place me with the unjust people.” He said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and admit us into your mercy, and you are the most merciful of the merciful." Indeed, those who took the calf will suffer wrath from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus we recompense the slanderers And those who did evil deeds and then repented after them and believed, surely your Lord after them is Forgiving, Most Merciful And when the anger ceased from Moses, he took the tablets, and in their copies there is guidance and mercy for those who fear their Lord What hastened you to your people, O Moses? He said: They are loyal to my tracks, and I hastened to you, Lord, that you may be satisfied He said: We have tried your people after you, and the Samaritan misled them So Moses returned to his people angry and sad, and he said, “O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise, has the covenant been prolonged to you, or did you want the wrath of your Lord to descend upon you, so you broke my promise?” And we took the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came to a people who were devoted to their idols. Thus did the Samaritan cast, and he brought out for them a calf. A body with a bellowing, and they said, “This is your God, and the God of Moses.” But he forgot. So do they not see that he does not return to them a word and does not possess for them harm or benefit? And Aaron had said to them before: O my people, you have been tempted by him, and your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my command. They said, "We will not leave him alone until Musa returns to us." He said, “O son of a mother, do not take my beard or my head, for I was afraid that you would say, ‘You divided the Children of Israel, and you did not watch what I said. He said, “What is wrong with you, O Samaritan?” He said, “I saw what they did not see, so I took a fist from the impact of the Messenger.” Likewise, my soul begged me, and he said, “Go, for in life is yours.” To say that there is no harm, and that you have a promise that you will not break, and look at your God to whom you have remained devoted We will burn it, then we will blow it up in the sea, but your God is God, who there is no god but Him, who encompasses all things in knowledge. And when Moses said to his people, God commands you to slaughter a cow, they said: Would you take us for a joke? He said, I seek refuge in Allah from being one of the ignorant They said, "Call upon your Lord to show us what it is." It is a cow, neither fertile nor virgin A means between that, so do what you are commanded They said, "Call upon your Lord for us to show us what color it is." He said, "He says, It is a bright yellow cow whose color is pleasing to the beholder They said, "Call upon your Lord for us to show us what they are. Cows look alike to us, and God willing, we will be guided." He said that he says it is a cow that does not humiliate, raises the earth and does not water the plows A Muslim woman with nothing in it, they said, "Now you have come with the truth." So they slaughtered her, and they hardly did So they slaughtered it, and they were almost doing it * And when you killed a soul, then you dealt with it, and God will bring out what you were concealing. So we said, “Strike him with some of them.” Thus God revives the dead and shows you His signs, so that you may understand

Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 KJV He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.

the law is supposed to be kept As the messiah said in matthew 5:16-19 let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. THINK NOT that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets I am not come to destroy but to fulfil for verily I say to you till heaven and earth pass (has that happened yet ) one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled ( thats including the prophecy about the third temple in jerusalem in daniel chapter 9, that's including the prophecy about new jerusalem in the book of revelations) whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and teach men to do so so shall he be called least in the kingdom of heaven but whosoever shall do and teach them the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven matthew 19:17 and why call you me good there is none good but one that is Elohim but if you will enter into life keep the commandments john 15:7-10 if you abide in me and my words abide in you you shall ask what you will and it shall be done to you herein is my father glorified that you may bear much fruit so shall you be my disciple as the father has loved me so have I loved you continue in my love if you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love even as I have kept my fathers commandments and abide in his love and remember when Yeshua was asked what were the two greatest commandments matthew 22:37-40 And Yeshua said to them you shall love YAH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind this is the first and great commandment and the second is like to it you shall love your neighbour as yourself on these two commandments HANG ALL THE LAWS AND THE PROPHETS. so if we keep all the commandments we follow the two greatest commandments. and as well didnt Jesus say in john 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you He that believes on me the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do because I go to my Father. And what kind of works did the messiah do ? the law of Moses. And in regards to " God nailed it on the cross" when he died the only thing he fulfilled was the forgiveness of sin as it is written in Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating Yeshua took bread and blessed it and brake it, and gave it to the disciples and said, Take eat this is my body. And he took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying Drink ye all of it For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for THE REMISSIONS OF SINS ( not doing away or as you say completion of the law ).if we look at Luke 24 when the two travellers are walking to Emmaus it is written in Luke 24:25-27 Then he said to them O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the THINGS CONCERNING HIMSELF ( not referring to the law but according to the ultimate atonement talked about in Isaiah 53 for he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we were healed ) And as a side note if Yeshua came to fulfill all prophecies concerning himself where in the old testament does it say the law will be changed or done away with ? Instead Isaiah said that the law will be expanded In chapter 42:21 For Yah is well pleased for his righteousness sake he will MAGNIFY the law and make it honourable. Ezekiel says in Ezekiel 36:26-27 A new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you an heart of flesh and cause you to walk in my statutes and keep my judgments and do them. So let me ask you did Yeshua really do away with the law ?

Unfortunately, it is a far cry from the actual Arron in the Bible. It's true he was among those who lead His people astray with the Golden Calf, but he didn't weasel out of the responsibility like in the movie. And he did side with Moses in the end. Arron lost faith in the wilderness just like we all have in one form or the other. But he did repent and became one of the greatest prophets in the house of Kohen.

I believe Aaron on that one, but at the same time, I don't. It's true that Aaron made the calf because the people told him to, but he was obviously pressured heavily to do it and didn't do a good job of standing up to temptation even if he didn't worship the calf. Plus, he wasn't as brave as Moses was.

@Martin Luther Well, they made a movie that entertained us a great deal. Yet the degree of creative license they took tends to detract from respect that could otherwise have been shown to Moses and to the Bible. The movie is rife with inaccuracies and outright contradictions. Again, it was very entertaining and I watch it every now and then. But some people tend to think that almost everything shown in the movie was true. I heard about that "Noah" movie but I did not see it. It looked pretty bad. Was it an abomination? Such a shame.

Personally, he may have been thinking "Oh, well...if they snub me, then they snub me! I did what I felt to do, and that's all that matters"! Always follow God, and don't worry about Men. Peter told the council that exact same thing in the book of acts:"We ought to obey God, rather than men"! Even Gamaliel, the Chief High Priest, warned his colleagues "If this thing be of God, do not fight against it, lest you be found to be fighting against God"! Good old Gamaliel! He knew something special from God was going on, and he wasn't wanting to fight against God himself! That's some spiritual wisdom, right there!

Correct...and those creative scenes are assumed to be Exodus by generations of viewers. No great earthquake or spectacular explosion at the hand of The Lord in Exodus 32. Moses broke the tablets He then had the idol burned to ash and pulverized. He had the dust poured into the water supply for all of Israel to drink their own bitter waters. He then ordered the Levite men to don their armor and take a sword to their neighbors (as in the rebellious idolaters) 3000 were killed. A plague then fell upon the people of Israel (probably deadly VD from their orgies over the calf)

He God loves us all. Moses is just his messenger, his servant to bring 10 commandments to us to follow Gods law of Love on how to love God and love our neighbor.

1:45-1:53 is just unbelievably epic. Heston delivers that line incredibly.

This is an incredible portrait of The Lord, the Judge. He didn't burn Aaron alive for the golden calf because He knew Aaron's weaknesses and also that the people had each seen Him Judge Egypt, part the see, provide for them.. etc He held everyman accountable for his own actions and folly.
