CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) rescues Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) when the inferi drag him underwater.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Adolescent wizard-in-training Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for another year of schooling and learns more about the dark past of the boy who grew up to become Lord Voldemort in this, the sixth installment of the film series that originated from the writings of author J.K. Rowling. There was a time when Hogwarts was thought of as a safe haven, but thanks to Voldemort's tightening grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, that simply isn't the case anymore. Suspecting that the castle may even harbor an outright threat, Harry finds his investigation into the matter sidelined by Dumbledore's attempts to prepare him for the monumental battle looming ever closer on the horizon. In order to discover the key to Voldemort's defenses, Dumbledore enlists the aid of resourceful yet unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, who may have a clue as to their enemy's Achilles' heel. Meanwhile, teenage hormones cause the students at Hogwarts to lose focus on their true mission. As Harry and Dean Thomas clash for the affections of the lovely Ginny, Romilda Vane attempts to woo Ron away from Lavender Brown with some particularly tasty chocolates. Even Hermione isn't immune from the love bug, though she tries her hardest to suppress her growing jealousy and keep her emotions bottled up. But there is one student who remains completely aloof from the romance blossoming all around, and he intends to leave a dark impression on his classmates. With tragedy looming ever closer, it begins to appear as if peace will prove elusive in Hogwarts for some time to come.

Actually Harry Potter is a much better book than the Bible is, at least Dumbledore doesn't order the genocide of children and infants like Yahweh did in 1 Samuel 15:3 and many other verses. davy jones Dumbledore was not in the same tier as voldemort. Voldemort feared Dumbledore for a reason. He knew Dumbledore was more powerful than him and this was demonstrated by their duel in the department of mysteries. Dumbledore deflected all of voldemort's spells and protected harry as well, forcing voldemort to possess harry to avoid direct defeat and even then Dumbledore helps harry to overcome the possession. Voldemort would even comment that Dumbledore was not fighting to kill that day so imagine if he was fighting to kill voldemort. Mich different tier to one another

Honestly this is dumbledore at his weakest, we can only imagine how much more powerful he is when he was not cursed, weaken and old. He even took down the most dangerous wizard grindewald. Tom riddle is nothing more than a over privileged bully that only fought when his ego was hurt.
@narky5071
@narky5071 Жыл бұрын
@@chriztianhusher8401 Dumbledore himself stated that Tom Riddle was the most powerful Wizard he had ever seen, with the most extensive knowledge of magic of any pupil he had ever witnessed, equating him to raw power. When he was 16 he rivalled Dumbledore. As a Dark Wizard, he was greater than even Grindelwald. The books go into more depth as to why Voldemort was the most feared and powerful Dark Wizard to have ever existed. The movies did not do the character, or characters therein, any justice. Grindelwald's strength was in his ability to influence and steer the minds of others. While he was powerful, and a Seer, he did not possess the raw power that Voldemort had - where in the book when Grindelwald is met with Voldemort, just before Voldemort kills him, it is made clear that even if Grindelwald was in good health, and could fight at his full potential... He stood no chance against Voldemort. Voldemort's ultimate weakness was his arrogance. Which is often frequent in those with inherent, immense power - Voldemort had no equal with only Albus Dumbledore capable of answering him effectively. Let's not forget that both Dumbledore and Grindelwald at one point in their lives owned the Elder Wand, which is already known to artificially boosts a wizard's ability. So that can be discounted from actual potential. Voldemort never had ownership of the Elder Wand, and yet due to his raw power, he was able to force it to do his bidding until the last moment. That fact alone - that Voldemort could force Sentient Wands to obey him regardless of ownership - is a sheer show of power. No other Wizard could do that safely.

Harry scares him too, and with good reason. While still a teen, Harry engaged Voldemort in a trial by magic (in Goblet) and Voldemort fails to kill him. That's surely disturbing. Harry is still young, with much to learn, yet his raw power is already a match. What will he become as time goes on? Voldemort finds out in the end, as he is crushed, despite holding the Elder Wand. Harry is young and doesn't know as many spells, but if you jump to trial by magic, direct combat, which is basically magical arm-wrestling, you're in trouble. For whatever reason, Harry is simply more powerful than Voldemort in terms of raw power.

Dave Crupel if ur talking about the fire snake in the ministry. It was fiendfyre because when Voldemort cast it, he was laughing as in thinking Dumbledore wouldn’t be able to defend himself as fiendfyre is hard to control so when Dumbledore effortlessly gathered it up and flung it back at him, he stopped laughing and also Voldemort intent of that battle is to kill Dumbledore so I don’t think he would be using normal fire as a means to kill him

@dustinakadustin
@dustinakadustin 6 жыл бұрын
Hal 9000 Well the duel with Molly and Bellatrix in the book was in front of all the combatants at the battle, the book describes the heat from the spells cracking the stone floor and that both withces were "duelling to kill." The whole fight lasts much longer and also happens alongside a battle between Voldemort, Mcgonagall, Slughorn and Kingsley Shacklebolt. When Molly defeats Bellatrix Voldemorts rage is described as being so powerful he blasts his three opponents across the hall. Everyone watches in awe. We really get a sense that Molly knows what she is doing and is a true force to be reckoned with. As for the fight with Voldemort it also happens in front of everyone, instead of being a big epic show down with spells flying we get Harry simply explaining to "Tom" that he is beaten and that there is no point fighting. Everything is explained and comes together in the final moments, Voldemort lets his ego get the better of him for the last time and we get a nice homage back to first duel where they use the same spells. Voldemorts body doesn't disintegrate either and everyone sees him dead and beaten. This works because it shows that Voldemort is just a human and nothing supernatural in the end, him disintegrating defeats that. The reason a simple collected showdown is better than curses flying is because it shows that Harry doesn't need to be all powerful to beat Voldemort, he just needs to be smart and focused. So that is why the final battle sucks and bellatrix vs molly was a joke in the film.
@dustinakadustin
@dustinakadustin 6 жыл бұрын
Parker S I guess you misread, I explained the big climactic battle being between Molly and Bellatrix and Voldemort, Kingsley, Slughorn and Mcgonagall. Spells cracking the ground open etc, if that sounds lame then I don't know how you were satisfied by the ending the films gave us.

It is a pretty much universally recognized fact that Dumbledore was the most powerful wizard ever. The only reason he didn't immediately beat Voldemort like the whiney cry-baby he is, was that he knew about the Horcruxes as far back as Chamber of Secrets. Though he might even have suspected something back when Voldemort returned to seek a job in his twenties. Back then the transformation was visible. Though by powerful I mean knowledgeable. I actually doubt that his spells were stronger than Voldemort's without the Elder Wand. But he had the opportunity to learn from others. Voldemort could only gain knowledge from books because he was so individualistic. Meanwhile Dumbledore got to tap into the knowledge of Nicholas Flammel who was 650 and probably knew more about magic than any other wizard in history. So Dumbledore probably knew thousands of spells. Wheras Voldemort only knew a hundred. In essence Dumbledore was just the most versatile wizard.

@Nilas55 6 жыл бұрын
We never knew much about Merlin so who knows? I figure he was most likely overrated just due to the fact that he was one of the first great wizards so no one had anyone to compare him to. Besides, Flammel must have had people HE learned from as well. Knowledge develops over time. New discoveries are made. So I guess the point is the longer magic is studied the more likely it is for someone to accumulate a large amount of knowledge. Since Merlin lived the wizards of Britain have studied magic for over 1000 years. More than likely they discovered many things Merlin had no way of knowing about back then. Merlin didn't live 650 years either so he didn't have as long to study as Flammel. Plus, some of what Merlin knew may have been passed on for all we know. Anyway, neither Flammel nor Merlin would have ever beaten Dumbledore. Maybe they knew more. We never really get much information about them. But I'm quite certain the lacked Dumbledore's skill in application. Knowing and applying is two different things. Magic duels revolve around offensive spells, defensive spells and counter spells. Which means there is a strategic aspect to it. As far as Voldemort goes he was the strongest because magic is described as a gene by JKR. Which means that Voldemort's family of pure-blood relatives all the way from Slytherin 1000 years ago had created the stronget concentration ever of that gene. Combined with Tom Riddle's genes Voldemort had the magical prowess of his mother's blood and went without any major birth defects like the rest of his family had (apart from him suffering from moral insanity). But since Voldemort neglected to study and learn and instead focused on gathering followers and creating horcruxes, he lost the opportunity he had of becoming the greatest wizard ever. That title fell, in the end, to Albus Dumbledore. A worthier person as well.

This is like when Thor showed up in Infinity War before that scene happened. You don’t quite understand how powerful those characters really are, until they make one move and turn the entire tide of a very one sided loss for the good guys. 11 years later, and I still get goosebumps with this scene.

Such a powerful scene. Brings you to sadness because you realize he is an old man who cares so deeply for an innocent boy whose family was taken away from him from an infant. Then, you as a fan realize that he is at his weakest state and still manages to captivate us with an amazing fire spell. Then, God-like, he parts the fire like a true boss. After this, I totally think the duel in part 5 could have been way more epic.

@BFrydell

@@gintokiteju1382 Yeah, everyone remembers that scene. But Snape was emotional in that conversation and his accusation was wrong. Dumbledore clearly cares a lot about Harry, something that McGonagall explicitly says later in HBP. In contrast, a slaughterer doesn't care at all about the pig. It's just a thing that you're going to eat later on. Not worthy of empathy. That's what Snape accused Dumbledore of feeling towards Harry and that's just clearly wrong. Instead of viewing it as Dumbledore raising Harry for slaughter, you might try viewing it as Dumbledore raising Harry to one day be willing to be the _type of person_ who would make that sacrifice on his own. I mean, there's a reason why Dumbledore was the only person in limbo for Harry to talk to after ol' Voldey "killed" him.
