Loomis was the only one who tried to reach his goodness. He was wrong as he admits in the very first moving having realized evil was all he was. However, maybe after a point. Perhaps Loomis was only given even just his life let alone respect, because like Loomis at one time reached Micheals light.

But you have to remember none of these moments are canon at all. Michael was simply pure evil in the original film and this picks up right from that. So there are absolutely no humane moments he has at all in the series.
