That moment it was something that was taken from him, and you feel the sort of emotional weight of what it is to be without a father in this world. @vitormenezesdemattos9673 жыл бұрын
Am i the only one who thinks that the only reason andrew's movies and spider man were so hated was bc people loved tobey's and wanted a spider man 4, creating on most people a bias against TASM? So they ended up ready to hate it a priori. Scenes like this, like the crane scene, the drama between gwen and peter and his promise to her dad... the dramas were so well made. And much of the complaints were about stuff that the TM trilogy also had done and nobody batted cared
@car10s8D3 жыл бұрын
@@vitormenezesdemattos967 I think that's kinda true. Most people complained for insignificant things such as: "being to dark" "To cute to play Peter" "He doesn't look like a dorky nerd" "Why's he skating?" "The suit has a basketball or alien look" Most of it has a reason to be, but people just ignored it. At the end, all that criticism just led the studio to interfere in TAMS 2 and erase many of the human elements that Marc Webb intended with the story. A story that besides for being inconsistent, still has some great and iconic moments as well.
@tamaramendelson16343 жыл бұрын
@@car10s8D Yeah TASM 2 was a mess, but I liked a lot about it. Like the way they handled Electro's origin story was really interesting - when he first got his powers, he was more disoriented than vengeful, and I like how when Spider-Man came onto the scene he was quippy and ready to fight as usual, but almost immediately he noticed that this guy wasn't out here to hurt anyone and was probably just confused, and so he shifted his approach to de-escalate the situation and build a rapport. It wasn't until the police interfered with violence and an attempt to kill Electro that Electro lost all trust in Spider-Man and turned hostile. Idk, it makes me think of this trend where folks with mental illness have breakdowns in public and the police will treat them as hostile criminals rather than providing support. This isn't something you usually see in Spider-Man stories (which tend to portray the police as good guys at heart who sometimes get the wrong idea about Spider-Man). There was a lot of other great stuff. Gwen's death hurt like a mf, but I think it was done well. Oh, and the scenes where Peter was interacting with that one kid were great. And I really loved Aunt May in TASM 2.
@car10s8D3 жыл бұрын
@@tamaramendelson1634 Absolutely. That scene with the kid was actually suggested by Andrew. He wanted Spider-man to show up and give the kid the strength to find his own inner-strength, even though he was just this skinny seven-year-old. Cause for him that's what Spider-Man is all about, the small moments. I'm amazed how much he understood the character, and I'm sure he and Marc would've love to give us more of those moments, but you know... unfortunately money was the main priority of the studio. Anyways, here's Andrew's thoughts about the Times Square scene with Electro: ¨The point of that scene, for me, was there is this mass-minded, fear-based consciousness that was about to kill someone and something innocent. I think the amazing thing about what makes Spider-Man Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. Peter Parker is an orphan and an underdog. When he first sees Max, he can see himself. He sees his own feelings of not being good enough, of self-doubt, of lacking in self-love. These are things that he's gone and goes through. When he sees Max in Times Square, he can see that this is a guy who just needs a little bit of love and a little bit of attention. I loved making that connection with him, early in the film. I thought it was super-important. Because, whenever Peter can use his compassion and his humanity to cut through a situation, he'll do it. He'd much rather not fight than fight. I think the last resort is punches and kicks and webs.¨

What I love about Andrew's Spidey is that he doesn't even care about keeping his identity a secret when it comes to saving people and make them feel relaxed. He truly, truly cares about them. That kid was in panic and really scared, but Andrew still got the balls to show his face to make them realize that he's just a normal guy and that there is nothing to be afraid of. And THAT'S the exact same thing he did in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" when Ned's grandmother was so scared of him when he jumped trough that portal. He puts of his mask so that she sees him for who he truly is and doesn't need to be afraid anymore. Talk about a real hero!

I’ve never understood why people hate the scene of spider man going after uncle bens killer. It is a perfect setup to how he redeems himself in saving the boy on the bridge. In spider man 2002 spider man goes after uncle bens killer out of vengeance but nobody ever says anything about that. Cosmonaut variety hour said something I disagree with strongly. He says that Peter Parker becomes spider man out of revenge. The reason I disagree is because Peter does not become spider man in the scene where he starts to go after his uncles killer. He doesn’t even wear the main suit in that scene. He really became spider man on the bridge scene when he saved the boy and reunited him with his father. He realizes in that scene that he can use his powers for the greater good of other people over himself. Gosh dang it he just reunited a boy with his father, something that can never happen with Peter ever again because of his parents deaths and his uncles death. He will never have the father figure anymore but he knows that if he uses his powers for the good of other people he can stop that from happening to anyone else.

Before he was just a boy with powers stopping muggers and saving people from crashes with a suit he made with his low budget. But then Stark found him and gave him a better suit and it felt good, he felt like a real hero. Because Spider-Man has always had confidence issues. And Spider-Man at the end defeated Vulture without the suit, which yeah, the other two Spider-Men have done. But this was Homecoming Peter's first time in a fight without the suit Tony gave him. Which was the whole point of the movie, to show to Peter that he was Spider-Man. I mean it had that great scene where he was buried under the rubble. Also Tom Holland does most of his own stunts. This scene has so much emotional power to it, the way Peter looks at them, remembering his childhood with his father and understanding the true responsibility of being a hero: helping innocent people and making them happy. And the way the great music just blends in so well, spicing things up. You never got to see his true emotions behind the mask but you literally feel how satisfying it is to help those who are in need. The way he gave his mask to the kid to let him know that he's just a regular guy and like in the comics, wearing a suit and putting on a mask does indeed make Peter feel stronger and more confident.

It would have been doable if they never released the 2nd movie. Remember that the visual effects team working for both TSM and The Avengers, kept this version of New York (which means some buildings and streets that do not exist in reality) in both movies. They share a lot in visuals, so one could argue that some ideas have been exchanged before even thinking about the reboot with Holland. Maybe Sony didn’t agree with the amount of money, or soemthing, but soon after TSM2 they changed their minds. Tony could have recruited Andrew’s Spiderman for Civil War easily after he spent ‘6 months as Spiderman’ in his own movie and made a name for himself so that it would actually make a lot of sense for someone like Tony Stark to investigate his wereabouts. He could be ‘the rookie hero who saved New York from a giant Lizard’ or such instead of a newbie stopping cars from crashing and helping old ladies at crossing the street. Don’t get me wrong, I love Homecoming’s version of Peter/Spiderman. But this was my own opinion regarding the possibility of Andrew successfully joining the Avengers.

I love this scene because this is where peter becomes Spiderman, its the first time in the movie where he doesn't act for himself or out of vengeance, rather for others. When peter returns Jack to his father he see's the father figure he lost and will never have again, and when he saves Jack he is saving another boy from the grief he feels now. Also In this scene Peter realizes the responsibility he has, because it was acting selfishly that got ben killed in the first place. We can also see the symbol of hope and courage Spiderman represents when Jack puts on the mask, giving him the confidence he needs. This is just a great scene.
