For me as a 20 year old the fantasy of the confidence the superpowers gave him to be the best version of himself was more intoxicating than idea of the power itself. Imagine a freak thing happens to you that all of a sudden gives you the assurance to be funnier, cooler, a better friend, a better son, a better boyfriend. It was like his whole personality was unlocked once the spider bit him.

Easy to see why I latched onto these movies so much in my early 20s. Embarrassing the school bully at basketball in front of everybody like that is the ultimate skinny high school nerd fantasy haha.
