Watch it again, The guy didn't scuff his sneakers. He hit him on the left side, and it's Buggin' Out's right sneaker that's scuffed. Spike Lee is showing how racial tensions can cause us to irrationally place blame on others despite them not doing it.

@@whayes8084 Wrong. They literally meant the Marvel character Black Panther aka King T'Challa aka played to perfection by Chadwick Boseman. The movie makes a few references to the comic; they even show a comic issue in one scene. This is the first pop culture reference to Black Panther outside the comics. Spike Lee was/is a huge fan of the comic books. The most famous line is when they say "Black Panther eat pizza, we eat pizza, booooooooooooooooooy!"

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Giancarlo Esposito over a year ago here in Seattle at the airport. He is one of the greatest and kindest individuals I have ever me while working security at the airport. He was still active in his roll on "Breaking Bad". Truly a great man, I hope to have the opportunity to meet him again in the future.

Whaaaat I met him for a hot second at an airport gate too, maybe 4 years ago, no real conversation to speak of, the flight was delayed slightly, he had a cool monogrammed carry-on, it was late and I try not to bother celebrities who are just trying to get from Point A to Point B, but if there were an actor to chat with, I would chat that cat up

I think the point was that they were in New York and they have a sports rivalry with Boston. And also, there is a racial element because it was a Larry Bird jersey (who is white) while the Lakers jersey was of Magic Johnson (who is black).

@@gfoot9916 - Ironically (or maybe not that ironically) Larry Bird and Magic Johnson became good friends. Magic has said that their on-court rivalry pushed them both to be better players.

Boston and New York are rivals. LA falls outside of that. Plus Magic Johnson was popular in the black community (like Jordan). Black people from anywhere rocked Magic or Jordan jerseys. And being a white guy from Brooklyn in a Bird jersey is like "why do you got to root for him?" Why isn't he a Pat Ewing fan?
