CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After losing the game on principle, Coach Dale (Gene Hackman) gives his team a locker room speech where he makes clear that his word is law.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Hoosiers tells the true story of a group of underdogs who become champions. Set in the 1950s, Hoosiers is about a hard-luck, unemployed college basketball coach (Gene Hackman) who gets a chance to coach a small-town Indiana high-school basketball team. Facing resentment from the community and the team itself, Hackman manages to inspire his young athletes, leading them to the state championship with the help of the assistant coach (Dennis Hopper), who happens to be a recovering alcoholic.

@ al miller firstly, it was just a line of dialogue from a movie. And I was quoting it. Maybe you should get your eyes checked, lol. I pity the fool who takes entertainment to such a serious, absurd level. Secondly, really depends on the particular law. Many laws are black and white as is demonstrated time and time again and fine and logical as they are. As well as morally sound. Yes, it was a flub but Hackman never broke character. Anspaugh may not have noticed it when shooting but he definitely would have in the editing room when choosing the best take. He would have shot that scene at least 5 times no matter how well the first takes came off. Hackman is a real pro.

That's true, but only because a bad coach thinks he deserves respect and obedience as God-Given Rights but doesn't realize he needs to earn that respect and give his players the same level of respect. In other words, misses the whole point of the movie.

Everything is the Coaches responsibility. The only thing players can do is win. THAT is very difficult for almost all coaches to understand. Players win, coaches lose. The sad thing is now, Coaches are recruiters and know very little basketball. I have seen a video with NBA players Kevin McCale and Larry Bird on how to set screens and box out that was all wrong fundamentally. Lon Kruger of Oklahoma had to take down a video of him coaching the fundamentals of boxing out after I explained all that was wrong with it (When he was at UNLV).

@@chessmentor63 It is not my fault that USA professional players struggle with international teams. or that college games score Routinely around 110 points between the two teams. I have complained for years and believe it or not it has gotten better.
