I honestly think so. She played a complex character where she has to show a lot of different emotions depending on the scenario, and she did it so well. I’d even be impressed if an adult gave this good a performance. Furthermore, I saw in interviews that she did as many of her own stunts as possible, and that she learned ballet to learn the dance numbers for this movie. That type of dedication is very rare in Hollywood these days.

Kathryn Newton is also a professional dancer who has trained in ballet and dance since she was young. For the sequence where Abigail mentally takes over Sammy's body and has her perform a bloody dance, Newton and choreographer Belinda Murphy worked out a full dance routine. Newton then presented the three- dance to the directors assuming they might capture a piece of it to use in the film. Instead Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett filmed the whole sequence and used all of it to show the power of Abigail and her appreciation of dancing as a weapon.

Alisha Weir was awesome in this picture. Expect her to be at least as popular as Natalie Portman in the future. Had never heard this song before, so I checked it out on the internet. This has me curious too. You could probably simplify it and say she was just a meat puppet. But I think its much darker than that. The way she says "Jessica, youre mine" implies that she wanted her to know she was in control and that she was a slave. Certain eye movements from Jessica also suggest she is trapped inside herself. And the whole dance routine feels less like some cheesy thing, and more like torture. Like she just forced her to kill a friend, and "now youll dance for my amusement." Overall its really messed up.

Sammy's consciousness was definitely shut out. As Peter was begging for his life by calling out Sammy's name, she replied "Sammy's not here" before biting him the second time. And it definitely looks like she was enjoying the taste of blood.
