I believe Loretta was having a nervous breakdown. She had a very hard time recovering from the death of her best friend Patsy Cline. The relentless touring, and stress from a marriage that should have been illegal (she was only 13). Sissy did a fantastic job in portraying Loretta and I'm happy she got a well deserved Oscar.

When you've been doing for everone else for so long and nothing for yourself, the stress of everything on your shoulders alone, and you mind and body finally say "enough." That scene always breaks my heart.

She was also hooked on meds. If you notice the sound of a toddler crying out in the audience is what broke her. It seemed as if she was going to say "Where's my baby?".

I will never understand why people who aren't yet famous or celebrities want that fame. Then when they become famous and well known they want their privacy. They had their privacy before they became well known.
