I love Hitchcock's way of peeling back the reveal bit-by-bit. This movie is also a good life lesson for patience and persistence.

Ahhh the 1950's, when every man wore a suit and tie even when they sat around the house.

not really, most of the scenes take place with the characters having just arrived home from being outside.

@@SandiegoChapo The monarchy and all their formality, influenced generations including America. Now, we have award shows to keep suits and tuxes and formals alive. And a tie is very much like a noose.

@@accountgg9678 LOL! That was two years ago, and I have no idea about the context. Hey, I'm an old woman...stuff like that happens. I do love the movie, Dial M For Murder, though....and still love John Williams. Doing a little digging, I find that the police inspector's name is (wait for it) John Williams! Yep....that must have been what I was talking about, because I do love that actor! Case closed!!!!!

There's a big plot hole in this scene. Halliday says the killing took place on 27th March, but when Margot is arrested, the police say it happened on 26th September. Either Swann died twice, or someone forgot to check the script.

Just watched it again last weekend. That was, at the very least, the 15th time l've seen it. Milland's portrayal of a truly evil psychopath still tickles me. His very best role ever. Love ALL the characters in this film

I never understood the significance of the stocking and the change that Tony makes with it. Anyone care to explain?
@EM-ve9bh
@EM-ve9bh 2 жыл бұрын
Tony burns the scarf because it was swan’s that he brought to strangle Margot. Tony then takes Margot’s own stocking and makes it look like Margot strangled herself to frame swan. If he would have just checked the stair and put that key back in her handbag and left swans key alone, he would have gotten away with everything.
