I cannot express how relieved I am that I have found other people who agree that Jane was totally justified in doing this. Tess used Jane and treated her poorly and cut up their mom’s dress when she KNEW that Jane wanted the original dress. Not to mention that Jane gave Tess one last chance before she did the slideshow to come clean with the pig-in-a-blanket. Tess got what she deserved, and I don’t think Jane did anything wrong after what Tess did to her.

Again, this scene is ridiculous. George falls out of love by seeing pictures of Tess doing things that don't make her seem so innocent, pure, and perfect. Are you kidding me? What man would do that? Just flip on a dime like that? More importantly, if his love was that shallow, guarded, temporary, and consequential, then he will never be happy with any woman, ever. This movie is so silly. A woman as young and hot as Kathrine Heigl and she can't get married and find a husband at 27 different weddings? Silly.

If Tess hadn't destroyed their mother's wedding dress prior to this, I would have thought Jane went OTT in this scene - just a bit. But I feel Jane was completely justified in this scene. Maybe she told dad she would so as not to disappoint him which I totally get, but stealing ALL of Jane’s wedding ideas like why would you do that?? I don’t think it’s what Tess really wanted. I know towards later Tess had a lot of setbacks in her life that caused her to return home to NY. She got fired from her job and her bf dumped her. Then George was so nice to her when they both met. Even a girl like Tess, who is so gorgeous and maybe even more popular with guys than Jane possibly, has insecurities. She somehow knew the type of girl George would go for and she wanted to be that for him. Of course you shouldn’t lie to keep someone I’m not supporting that. Jane may have stooped to Tess's level here, but it seems justified given Tess's lies and arrogance. Let's not forget about poor little Pedro with his "cleaning business"! Jane's speech and video weren't solely about what she had done to George. What happened to the dress wasn't respectful, and aside from Jane's feelings, it could have also hurt her father's feelings finding out the wedding dress was cut up and without any forewarning. No, Jane didn't say anything to Tess from what we know in the movie about her feelings towards the dress, but we also need to remember that she had issues speaking up and standing up for herself. However, she may have spoken up had she known what Tess had planned to do with the dress. Lastly, let's not forget that George stated he always liked Jane because "she never says no". So we might say that George isn't all that innocent or pure a person either.
@damascus98765 ай бұрын
It’s not just the cut up dress, this is after a lifetime of Tess treating her like crap and belittling her with no consequences. Everyone enabled Tess and as a result she felt empowered to treat her sister like a doormat. As far as sisters finally snapping back, this was quite tame.

In all honesty Tess had been spialing to be bad ever since she met George. Exactly how the men treated her before George(lying and hurting someone emotionally). Tess knew that Jane loved that dress and instead of just taking parts off the seams to resew again she had them cut in pieces. When Jane was taken advantage of just for a scoop she blamed Jane for not knowing and was only concerned about how she was potrayed. Granted she was probably stressed but she still blamed someone. She also did use Pedro to stereotypically clean the apartment. So yeah, deserved in this scene. It was just really weird how her personality did a 180 when their dad forced them to talk. And I got really upset when George and her are implying to try again. It would have been nice if she dated a different guy but hey, this is a movie.
