The best part about this scene is that not only is it funny, but the fact that his rant has plenty of merit. The real wild west was not a fun place to live. I feel like this scene would have been a lot more fun and engaging if we had little scenes to cut away to that show what Seth's character is describing here, rather than just relying on simply having Seth explain everything in plain monologue using just shot-reverse-shot conversational editing. Like, I'm imagining a bit where, instead of just him saying "He had a sermon about seeing things through", we cut to a quick scene in the church where the pastor is giving the sermon Seth is talking about; maybe it zooms in on the pastor's face as he gives an impassioned speech, maybe it cuts back to Seth and zooms in on his face as he reacts to the sermon in horror. Maybe, in this scene, the pastor migh be saying something different from what Seth describes, making Seth a slightly unreliable narrator, maybe there's a chance that, despite everything, Seth might just be wrong about the West... Y'know... FILMMAKING things!!!
