I get it why some critics might have panned it. but this is not just a movie. its a vibe. His mother, Claire's role in his life,the Elizabethtown community, the incredible soundtracks. it all make you feel good and immersed while watching it. Utter sappy movie. Apart from making no sense, it had every cliche in the book, deliberately jammed into 1.5 hours. I'm surprised good actors like Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom got involved in the first place. Maybe they needed the paychecks, but it was rightfully panned by critics - it was just lame, and I'm sure those actors are embarrassed about what came out.
@alexanderhelios77 Жыл бұрын
It's one of my favorite movies. The relationship Drew has with his father is very touching and it's very easy to identify with him because so many of us have difficult relationships with our fathers. There was a lump in my throat when Drew approached to the coffin. Kirsten Dunst is overwhelmingly beautiful in this film and I think it's one of her best performances. I had an instant crush on her. Well, actually, I've always liked her, it's just that she can't be so brilliant and so devilishly beautiful at the same time! Claire is a very complex character. It's obvious that she fell in love with Drew at first sight. The things that girl does for Drew can only be done by a girl who is very much in love. But she's also very fragile and scarred by many things (the unlucky dress, perceiving herself as a substitute, doing everything she can to get Drew to wake up and go after her, inventing a boyfriend as Ben, though perhaps that imaginary Ben embodies all the men who hurt her). Orlando Bloom is great as well. I think he look very vulnerable, especially the last twenty minutes. I think time is putting this movie where it deserves to be!

I love this movie. I met a guy who reminds me of this guy. Our love story almost paralleled to this movie. Somehow, we drifted apart. But falling in love with him was one of the best feeling I ever had.
@Lilagrace3264 жыл бұрын
Is it really good that your love story paralleled this one's? She's a total Manic Pixie Dream Girl created only to try to "fix" his emotional immaturity and he pushes her away whilst using her because he's a trainwreck
@chrisninamartinez38514 жыл бұрын
@@Lilagrace326 I said almost. I am of course not a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. I am more complex than that. And I don't regret the fact that there was a time I had to "fix" him. Some people need fixing sometimes and need people to support us, and it doesn't mean he's immature or weak or that I'm manic like her. We're just human. This is a movie. Ours is real life, intertwined by the complexities of our emotions and past. I met him in his worst, but I saved him and he saved me in the process. It's not ideal of course but we supported each other to be at our best. We sadly had to part, but we have each other a gift, and that is hope. And is it good that I think it's paralleled to our story? It's not good nor bad, it just is.

There are a few fundamental issues with the movie that made it hard for me to really love it. First, Orlando. I know he was a last minute replacement for Ashton Kutcher. Neither is right for this role. Nothing against Orlando, but there are moments where he seems to struggle with an American accent versus emoting what the scene needed as a grieving and suicidal young man. The second is the whole Spasmotica shoe subplot. As a former Nike designer…there is no way in hell a shoe would be developed that long without numerous test phases and focus groups. A billion dollar loss from a single shoe drop is a bit further than suspension of disbelief will allow. Everything else is wonderful. What I love most is Kirsten and her heart and the idea of living in a small town that is as caring and fun and protective as the folks represented in Elizabethown.
