@@declaringpond2276 Which school did you go to, because in my history class we only talk about the crusades as being a religious war. Most wars were fought to conquer and to defend against conquerors. Attila, Genghis, Napoleon, the list of people who started and ended wars for reasons other than religion goes on. You sound like an atheist who doesn't know history and that's bad because if you don't believe in god, I'd at least expect you to know the history that is written out for you. No hope for some people I guess.Wait. It seems a lot of religious wars did happen, but that was noted in the bible. If you're atheist, why are you taking that as fact. Must be confused.

I'm certain that you, like me, see these old testement stories as fairytales, and from that perspective it's perfectly acceptable to enjoy them. Considering how this is supposed to be based off a book that a very large portion of the human population holds very dear, I would imagine that the best mindset would be to be as representative and faithful to the book as possible. Considering how that's not the case with this movie on all fronts including this scene, your statement here doesn't amount to much. Genesis was never meant to be taken literally and people who claim it was lack common sense IMO. If you believe in God, you know he gave you a working brain and wants you to use it. And some of the scientific theory of creation is also created by Monks that they based on the Creation story of Genesis that explains the power of God in more Scientific and they explain it more deeply and more realistic that their theory becomes the basis of Modern Scientist in terms of Theory of Creation and Evolution. InvisibleOther It isn't necessary that it's false, simply not proven yet. We thought the Iliad was fantasy and make-believe, yet we managed to excavate Troy and its wall. There's a BIG chance that the Flood did happen since so many cultures besides Abrahamic tradition told that story, though not in the massive scale the Bible might have indicated. More than likely, it probably happened on a smaller scale, but during a time when humanity was small enough that its impact would be devastating.

@IRAMantisShrimp
@IRAMantisShrimp 10 жыл бұрын
InvisibleOther I am comparing ancient texts, made by ancient men far older than our time back when the world was a younger place and people were divided by vast geological barriers rather than two different computer screens. The way I see it, the Flood tale more likely involves a small section of the world, where, at the time, most of the human population that composed of the ancestors of the Abrahamic peoples once lived. Given that the Flood story is multicultural, to the point where cultures as far away and unconnected as the Indonesians, the Toltecs, Greeks, and Sumerians share the same story; of a chosen few tasked with protecting a group of animals aboard a giant boat while a massive flood wiped out all of known mankind; there's a very good chance that there's truth to it. There was a lot of volcanic activity and geological disturbances right about the time we began to make our way out of Africa, after all.

Miles Matheson Depends on your definition of fish, all land animals came from some sort of skeletal fish. As “fish” is one of the only aquatic animals with limbs that could potentially evolve into pads that could walk on land. That fish became the first reptile and egg laying creatures are the ancestors of all life. Even non-egg laying animals technically lay eggs in their ovaries. Plants come from a different story, just aquatic plants gradually adapting to land environment the moment bacteria was able to survive on land.

You trying to justify this flat out lie that "because it might have happened means they don't have to tell the truth" is total BS as well. What library did Noah go to learn about the Theory of Evolution? Which college did he attend? Did he see it on the Internet? Prey tell dude, where did Noah learn this theory that wouldn't exist for another 2,000 years? The Bible didn't seem to think he knew it, but Hollywood now does. So which is right? For reference, since you seem clueless, the Bible predates the Theory of Evolution as well. Probably by close to 2,000 years as well. Hollywood can go back about 100 years. So bring it on. How did Noah know about a theory that wouldn't exist for thousands of years after he and everyone in that movie were dead? @@men_del12 it's human nature to be curious and desire forbidden things or do forbidden acts. So when the God forbidded the apple Adam/Eve wanted it badly. So Twain is saying that it's the God's mistake that he forbade apple which made Adam curious about it. Twain is joking that If God forbade eating a snake Adam would have eaten the snake.

@@muralin239 Ah I see. It does make sen-.....hold on...when he said it's God's fault making humans have that bad thing to be set on them, won't that make the humans with God or God with humans have equal label as bad? And if God & humans are bad, won't that mean both are like a fellowships of bad? It sounds like a good normal family relationship since both are already bad so why needing to accuse one another (God to humans or humans to God)?

@@men_del12 We cannot describe God in human like qualities. So, I don't think God keeps a check on what we are doing. There is a quote from one of Twain's Stories. “You are not you--you have no body, no blood, no bones, you are but a thought. I myself have no existence; I am but a dream--your dream, a creature of your imagination. In a moment you will have realized this, then you will banish me from your visions and I shall dissolve into the nothingness out of which you made me. I am perishing already, I am failing, I am passing away. In a little while you will be alone in shoreless space, to wander its limitless solitudes without friend or comrade forever-for you will remain a thought, the only existent thought, and by your nature inextinguishable, indestructible. But I, your poor servant, have revealed you to yourself and set you free. Dream other dreams, and better! Strange! that you should not have suspected years ago-centuries, ages, eons, ago!-for you have existed, companionless, through all the eternities. Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane-like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell-mouths mercy and invented hell-mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him! You perceive, now, that these things are all impossible except in a dream. You perceive that they are pure and puerile insanities, the silly creations of an imagination that is not conscious of its freaks-in a word, that they are a dream, and you the maker of it. The dream-marks are all present; you should have recognized them earlier. "It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream-a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought-a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!” ― Mark Twain, The Mysterious Stranger

TheCoper COper It's possible, just not the literal version. Someone could have saved some animals in some kind of livable boat in some kind of regional flood somewhere. The legend exists in every ancient culture, there was probably somebody, or a few somebodies who actually went through a similar ordeal. "A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night" Psalm 90:4 This basically says that a single day for God could be a billion years for us. Time moves differently for God. He created time!

@@jaimebatista4624 Both are correct. God is largely unaffected by our concept of time, because he has his own- a thousand years is as a day to Him, and a day as a thousand years. Basically, all those thousands of years of people slaying each other are our punishment for Cain slaying Abel, because the next 10 generations are punished for the sins of the father. The Earth is only 8020 years old, so we still have roughly 1,980 more years of bloodshed. Unless, of course, God decides to bring about Revelations before then. Which, if you've been paying attention to world events, is very likely to happen very soon.

@ThatDamnScottishGuy I think that the big bang and evolution shows God's genius. I mean, why create everything separately, when you can cause an explosion (or expansion) and will create everything as time goes by. I think that it is more amazing to picture God causing one event that creates everything, than creating everything separately.

Why do people assume God’s interpretation of a “day” is confined to the Earth’s 24 hour rotation cycle? Where God is from maybe time moves much slower, therefore a day may be millions of years allowing evolution or maybe a “day” is figurative.
