Film suggestion ... January 22 will mark the 145th anniversary of the famous battles of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. I think it would be awesome if you could watch and react to the films Zulu and Zulu Dawn to mark that anniversary. Zulu (starring Michael Caine in his breakout role) dramatizes the Battle of Rorke's Drift and was filmed in 1964. Zulu Dawn, chronicling the Battle of Isandlwana, features an all star cast and was relased as a sort of prequel in 1979 on the 100th anniversary of the battles.

The North star comment he makes isn't because he's a strange guy. The North Star in the Northern hemisphere is called as such as it always points North and will lead you as such if you follow it. (It's actually called Polaris). At this time Northern USA was anti-slavery. They fought the civil war with the South who were pro slavery. You are forgiven for not knowing these things are you are from the Southern Hemisphere and not American. :)

Great reaction like always, love this movie. Christoph Waltz is such a fantastic actor. Being such an embodiment of evil in Inglorious Basterds to this equal opportunist in Django is such a crazy range. And Jamie Foxx and Leo DiCaprio bring their A game. It's like the Olympics of acting in this movie. Fun fact, the reason Jamie Foxx rides so well? Bareback and all? He owns horses, the horse that did the neat tricks at the end, thats one of his horses. Keep up the good work.

Dr. Shultz being very educated makes perfect sense. After the failed European revolutions of 1848 hundreds of thousands of Germans came to the US. They were mostly educated middle class people who refused to live under the new order of Prussian dominance in Germany.

Well, i think most of the german immigrants were poor, not that well educated folks. But for the 48er´s it was different because they were for the most part well educated, liberal minds, and they fled the country because their lives woul have been in danger. The 48er´s made a huge impact in american society, not only for their effort in supporting the north in the american civil war. It makes me really sad that our good reputation not only in the USA but also in England (the british monarchy was basically german) was destroyed by this stupid mf Kaiser Wilhelm.

@@baddodo72 True. Poor Germans had been coming to North America since the 1600's. The post 48 arrivals contrasted with the massive Irish influx of very poor uneducated from the Irish famine. I think it's plausible to imagine that Dr. Schultz learned his marksmanship behind the barricades!

Great movie, even better commentary! This is one of my favorites. Jamie Foxx is terrific, as is Christoph Waltz. I come from a German family in Texas, and there were several "Christoph's" in the family line. If you like Herr Waltz, you may like a movie called "Dead for a Dollar". I really like it, and Christoph Waltz is the main character. It's a Western, and not a really famous one, so you may not want to react to it on your channel. But it's really good, and you might enjoy seeing it just for fun. Thanks for letting us watch a tremendous movie with you. You're a wonderful theater friend! This isn't so much a "western"... It's a "Quentin Tarantino" movie... DRESSED UP as a western! His movies are a genre all to themselves! "The Hateful Eight" is another one dressed adva western... Though by FAR his best movie was his second one, "Pulp Fiction". You might enjoy his films, judging by how much you enjoy the "Spaghetti western" genre. He's a big lover of said films and most of his catalog had a similar "feel"... a nod to that genre. By the way, if you liked Christoph Waltz in this one, you'll absolutely LOVE him in Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" (yes .. it's spelled that way 😅)

The location at the very beginning with all the rocks, is a place called the Alabama Hills, it's near Lone Pine, California in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It's a super popular location for westerns. The rocks are photogenic with the Sierra mountains in the background, including Mt Whitney, the highest peak in continual US. The large animals at 17:07 are Elk. As for Moose, I'm told by my neighbors there is a moose that walks through our neighborhood every winter, though I haven't seen it yet. I have also seen bears a few times in my life, one was in our hotel parking lot years ago, it had torn open someones jeep and stole all their food out of the car and was eating it in the corner of the lot. For some perspective that $200 reward for the sheriff/outlaw is equal to around $7500 today. You could catch 1 person a month and be pretty damn well off. That one at 16:15 is worth the equivalent of $270,000 today. I love the relationship between Django and Schultz its such a genuine bros relationship. Also Jamie Foxx did a phenomenal job - that scene with the dogs and Candie where he said he wasnt impressed you could FEEL the white hot rage coming off him. Also never apologise for your emotional reactions - your emapthy towards the stories is one of the main reasons I watch these and Im sure Im not alone in that sentiment.

I mean, the thing about moose and bears is they can't really sneak up on you. Sure you can stumble on a bear if you're in bear country and being too quiet, and that's how most bear attacks happen, but moose are just huge and dumb so the worst that will happen is hitting one with your car. Either way though, it's relatively easy to avoid them. Spiders and snakes though, they're venomous and sneaky. A bear isn't going to be hidden in your shoe or your toilet. And don't even get me started on box jellyfish.

People reacting to this film often express their horror at the institution of slavery but then exhibit their ignorance of the fact that there are more slaves today than at any time in human history -- suffering under conditions every bit as cruel and inhuman (and fatal) as those depicted in this film. Slavery is more prevalent than ever -- in America's medieval for-profit prisons, toiling on U.S. military bases abroad (via subcontractors), catching the fish most Westerners eat, making sneakers, fighting fires, cutting meat, you name it. Today's "owners" have made the practice more discreet, certainly, but millions of human beings, including the children who work cobalt mines and cocoa fields, are effectively chattel in the 21st century. The perpetrators of these horrors (including many popular corporations, from Microsoft to Hershey to Victoria's Secret) count on the abysmal poverty and desperation of huge swaths of humanity -- and the astonishing ignorance/indifference of comfortable Westerners.

Thankfully there's no historical evidence for mandingo fighting as a practise. Slavery was brutal, cruel and inhumane but I think it was probably a huge waste of time and money to have slaves fight to the death for entertainment. Also while it was broadly legal to kill a slave you owned in many cases (including the US antebellum), it was still illegal for a free man OR a slave to kill a slave that belongs to someone else. Love this movie though, historical inaccuracy be damned. It's a fantastic portrayal and it captures the spirit of the era imo.

Let yourself laugh for christs sake. The entire "bags on the head" scene you look like you need to shit a tractor. I know, slavery was/is terrible. We all do. It's a movie.

It's a movie that effects people differently.

@frankiebrah no shit? It isn't that. It's fake outrage to look tolerant and woke.

I saw this as a date with my ex on my birthday and her dad kept calling during lol. Other than that it was a good time actually named my cat after Django but also cause music from Django Reinhardt calms him down. Anyway, i saw this in theaters. Quentin is kind of historically illiterate because 1858 is not "Four years before the civil war" It's three and there wasn't a KKK till after the war. Good movie, of course but Quentin know his way with movies and storytelling I don't deny him that but he does not know shit about history and he has lied on more than one occasion about history based on stupid shit he heard growing up but he is a dropout and a bit of a creepy pedophile and a friend of Harvey Weinstein. Plus he disrespected Bruce Lee based on a quote he misattributed to his wife attributing to him about Muhammad Ali which he never said but Q.T. insists he did still because Quentin is stupid. After Hateful Eight I thought he shouldn't hang it up at ten movies. After his Once Upon A Time In Hollywood I think it's about time he does. At least with Inglorious Basterds it's alternate history but I'm really not sure how much history this fool really knows. The fact that he's from the south means he should have at least been aware that the war was from 1861 to 1865,
