During my visit to Chicago 3 weeks ago I spent about an hour on the Saturday night (using my phone as a satnav) trying to find La Salle St. I finally did and it was so quiet I managed to take my own photo of the spot where Heath Ledger stood. It was so awesome. I would have tried to find more spots but that was the main one I wanted to see.

@David walsherman I saw the big fire ball and smoke from a mile away and it called our attention so we went to check it out and we saw the Batman crew out there on Cicero street

The opening scene (entrance to the batcave) is where I parked my car at for work. They put a storage container under the St. Charles Airline and then left it there when filming was complete. It wasn't until I saw the movie I realized the significance of the storage container. They also installed an old antique looking letter box on Roosevelt Road near the Chicago River. Years later you would think it was some remnant from Chicago's history but it was really just a prop for the movie.

chicago was like another character in the movie. Really great how Nolan turned it into Gotham City

@@Carlinisalive Yup, that doesn't exist anywhere else in America 🙄 Chicago is an easy, large target, especially for people of a certain political persuasion who come from the most crime-ridden, podunk states. You're naive if you don't realize the same crap, and worse, happens in smaller cities all over the country that no one cares about, and which are politically inconvenient.

Remember the time when they filmed, the filming crew kept their equipment on the first floor in the bldg where I worked on LaSalle St and there were people standing on the streets all around from our bldg surrounding the Willis Tower where the Batman scene of him standing on the lower side of the Willis Tower..the whole movie just about was shot in the financial district of downtown Chicago

The hospital scene was actually filmed on location in Chicago at the old Brach's candy factory on Cicero Avenue. If you google Brach's candy and the Dark Knight, you'll find tons of articles. :)

At about the 3:40 mark, the office building with the address 50 West Washington is not the building were Harvey Dent had his press conference. The correct address of building is 330 N. Wabash, which the southeast corner of the lobby was used. How do I know? It's the building I work in. That side of the building is on State Street. At the 3:35 mark, The area behind Aaron Eckhart is our courtyard that runs along the Chicago River. The green awning you see above and to the right of the police officer's right shoulder (he's standing closest to the podium) is Smith and Wollensky Chophouse. There are several buildings downtown that have the same architecture.

I love how they turned Wacker Drive, the bane of every Chicagoan's existence, into something to be proud of. (FYI for those who aren't local: lighting is dim, it's easy to get lost, you feel claustrophobic, and your GPS gets scrambled, so you have no idea where you're going 🙃)

Technically Gotham is NYC in the 1980s but currently Chicago feels the most Gotham city if we’re talking 2022. Chicago has that Gotham grit that NYC has mostly gentrified away.

@TheGrizzzle Actually I went to Pittsburgh and got to be an extra for the shooting at Heinz Field (was a Gotham Rogues fan)! Also got some footage of setting down at the University and shot clips on a few streets they were planning on shooting in the coming weeks. Haven't edited it yet, but surely will at some point. As far as other locations, might be a little trickier to get to (Los Angeles, New York, etc.) as I live north of Chicago right now, but someday I surely will try to get to them :)

The city, lights , traffic , that's real skyscrapers , the only reason they went to Pittsburgh is cause it's cheaper and didn't want the viewers to just see Chicago. And the wacker drive part is one of the best scenes.
