"You're not gonna get into heaven." "Why not?" "There's a dress code", Bigfoot as "that guy who just saves your car", a gothic novel in the modern day, and Sam strangling Satan. This show is AWESOME.

I think I probably also add to this list of weird episodes would definitely include the one where Sam leaps into a chimp or the one where he's a mortician who has to help solve a murder or or that one where he is being hypnotized and almost commits suicide.

I saw that Boogyman episode as a child. It was Christmas Eve and my mum was upstairs wrapping presents. She found me, enthralled, about a foot away from the screen. She was horrified and I was hooked. Inadvertently got an early start on horror. It was also my first introduction to Quantum Leap 😆

E Jones, you brilliant son of a bitch! You just cracked the case. I've had a similar memory for years, only I couldn't remember what movie we were watching but that's because it wasn't a movie but rather the first time I'd ever seen Sam Becket step into the Quantum Leap Accelerator... And vanish. The only key difference was it was my Grandfather who found me watching it, because the family was all at my aunt's house to eat dinner. I begged my mom to stay and let me finish the episode but she said no. Ever the pimp, my grandfather volunteered to wait with me and we watched the rest together. Sincerely, thank you for helping me finally remember what it was we stayed to watch!

Somehow, I feel this number should be a lot higher than 10. I remember that Dr. Ruth episode being much better than you'd expect. For you young ones or others who don't know of her, Dr. Ruth is a therapist that gained a lot of notoriety for being extremely frank in discussions about sex, which American audiences found extra funny because it was coming form a tiny old Jewish lady. The episode had the jokes you'd expect, but it also took the therapy side of it much more seriously than most TV at the time. The focus was as much on helping Al deal with the mess that was his life as it was about the leap.

My favorite one off joke is when Sam is on top of a roof trying to fix a signal and Al looks like he's leaping, and for a brief moment it looks like the show is going to do something really cool, but then Sam points out that it's just because Al is a hologram standing in the interference, and as soon as he moves the effect goes away. It's so dumb but funny.

From the Halloween "vampire" episode of the original - "The Devil" takes the form of Al, which must have confused the heck out of the other characters.... Sam: Why are you doing this? "The Devil": To put an end to your meddling. WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO GO BUNGLING AROUND IN TIME?! PUTTING RIGHT WHAT I MAKE WRONG!! Sam: I'm just trying to get back home. The Devil: Well, you're not going to make it! That HAS to take the prize for the weirdest moment in the entire series - enjoying the sight of Dean Stockwell playing evil. And made even weirder when the episode ends revealing the kid was Stephen King.

I remember nothing else about the Boogeyman episode, but I remember being terrified by "Al's" final speech as a kid. Seeing it come up here still brought a twinge to my stomach. What I like about the show's four spookiest episodes is that each one is a different kind of horror/thriller story. "A Portrait for Troian" is done in the style of 19th Century Gothic supernatural mystery, despite being set in 1971. "The Boogeyman" is done in the style of 20th Century small town surrealist horror a la Stephen King or HP Lovecraft. (and genuinely scary from a non-horror show) "The Curse of Ptah-Hotep" is done in the style of pulp curse-of-the-mummy stories popularized around the turn of the 20th century. "Blood Moon" is basically QL's take on Hammer Horror, which is probably why it was set in the '70s. QL was great on taking on many different genres, and in the case of horror, even subgenres,

I've not had a chance to see the new series yet (I hear good things) but QL was one of my absolute favorite shows when I was a teenager. It, MST3K and Star Trek TNG basically made up 90% of my TV viewing habits in the early 90s. I was hoping The Boogeyman would be on the list, should have predicted it'd be #1. Kinda surprised the entire concept of Evil Leapers didn't make it though, that always seemed...weird. Great video as always!

I remember the episode with Liz Torres distinctly because she reminds me of my grandmother. Imagine Liz Torres as a shortstack and you have the closest image of my grandma, same attitude as the character she plays in that episode. I miss her a lot. N. 3 I remember the episode because of the unusual behavior of Al, always blaming the mummy and the curse for the bad things happening while Sam denied it all. In the end, when he goes in the chamber and then pops out with that face, Al can't even confess what's going on there. He showed without showing.

Good old days, when great shows used a basic concept so they could be very free-flowing and do something different every week without being too constrained. Quantum Leap, never mind a different setting and character, it was also a different genre every week. This episode is adventure, this one is drama, this one is comedy, this is romance, this is detective fiction, this is horror. A lot of modern shows just don't understand how much creative freedom there is in the philosophy that less is more.

Two seldom-but constant truths about QL that you kinda just have to accept is that 1) Supernatural stuff, we guess, exists in this universe but is fringe and usually subtle enough that even in passing Al and Sam don't know what to make of it and only have time to move on, and 2) Except for God and the Devil, who not only super exist, but they also tend to be on the nose about it esp when they are taking a direct and deliberate step into Sam's path as opposed to him blundering into theirs.

I miss how '90s shows ostensibly set in the real world would still sometimes just FULLY confirm that the supernatural was real. Feels like the last decade writers felt like they could get away with that, whether it was divine intervention, non-white magic/spirituality, or full-on vampires, aliens, or Santa Claus. From Murder, She Wrote to Baywatch to Quantum Leap: every now and then, you'd get ghosts, ghouls, or whatever because the average person still seemed to believe those things were real.

Don't be absurd. The average person didn't believe those things were real. The audiences and writers just didn't think it broke suspension of disbelief any more than, say, a murder mystery author who stumbles into twenty some murders a year, none of which she had any part in the planning or execution.

I believe what happened in "The Boogieman" is that it was all real and Sam did defeat the Devil, and once he did the leap reset itself. He didn't have some psychic dream to know to save the guy in the window. The timeline/leap also reset itself in "Deliver Us From Evil" in the same manner.

I actually like QL 2022 so far. I think the “evil leaper” storyline jumped the shark of the original.

Man this video was weird 😁 "Who gave you the right to go bumbling around in time. Putting right what I made wrong" "I'm just trying to get home" "Well you're not going to make it" God I miss this show 🎃🙂

Maybe God will allow Sam to finally return to his time ( and get his surname spelt right if he does it off screen)

I was weaving away this video, remembering the vampire-episode from befor, but I accept, these got weirder starting with Bigfoot.

I can’t remember if it was Outer Limits or Leap, but one episode always stuck out to me: Tribunal. An old Nazi gets hunted down by the grandson of a holocaust survivor, his grandfather. It’s an incredibly moving and well done episode. Especially those looking for justice for such atrocities.

The Halloween episode of the new series has Ben leaping into an exorcist, so it looks like they're not shying away from the weirdness.

Just finished making my homemade Ziggy handlink prop for my Al Halloween costume last night! Other than my best friend, there is literally no one else on Earth who I think would appreciate that tidbit more than you.

You should do a whole episode on that big 3-parter they did. Good lord! That was a wild ride.

The revival series has made me finally go back and watch the whole show in order as opposed to watching random reruns years ago. What did you think of the first season? Would love to see you make a video on it!

When I learned that they called the "Bermuda Triangle" the "Devil's Triangle" before like 1960 I re-watched the episode. Sam and the pilot called it Bermuda before it was named that. The episode "The Boogyman" has one of my favorite scenes. It's always funny to see Sam and the goat spin around like that.

And lets not forget that thanks to Sam, Stephan King got the plot to Christine and became a success.

I'm shocked that one of the Christmas episodes was not named One guy a leapin' in reference to the Christmas Carol the 12 days of Christmas
