I loved this movie, and I think Tatyana was an awesomely written female character. She was human, used her intelligence and didn't rely on her sex appeal to get what she wanted, but also wasn't overmasculinized and was allowed to stay feminine. She was also respected by the male characters in the movie and treated as an equal, not just as a piece of sexy meat. I also like that there was not really any romantic undertone in the movie, and that this all was done without making it into a "girl power", "yass queen", "women rule" bullshit that a lot of American movies fall victim to nowadays making the female characters bland, unrealistically overpowered badasses while they are perfect supemodels at the same time. It was a good and interesting movie overall.

@@iambarryallen that is a good question. As far as I could figure if they were always blind then they wouldnt know colors for sure. I would imagine that the only way they could get an idea of what something "looked" like they would have to place their hands on it and run theirs fingers all over it while someone who could see explains what each thing the blind person came across felt like. It still wouldnt be a clear picture even then. The blind person would only be able to recall what things felt like. Texture, weight, firmness, temperature, sharp or dull. Then smells would also come into place. So I would guess that anything a blind person could understand would have to be filtered through sensations and smells and taste as well. How they interpreted it is something I am sure we couldnt fully understand and I would wager differs from one blind person to the next. I have heard that they dont dream. I could not imagine being born blind. However there are thousands that are and they do quite well in life and enjoy it. They have a perception of the world that is unique solely to them. The heightening of other senses would be an unreal experience too I think. Thing is all I've mentioned isnt remarkable to them its just simply how they live. Its a fascinating topic.

A rather interesting thing about this movie is I believe it's 'Life (really) imitating Art rather than the other way round. A lot of life mysteries are revealed subtly in these 'sci-fi movies' to those who really on the same frequency and can decipher the real message.

After watching several videos on this channel I have become convinced that while American movies have the best CGI and enormous budgets they are also less creative and interesting than what the Russian and Asian markets offer (India excluded because overacting breaks movies so hard). Many of them follow similar plots and tropes that are sure to sell but they are not very interesting anymore.

Apart from the whole Sputnik thing, i just loved the twist with the orphan. During the whole time we thought it was Kostya's son. Bound to a wheelchair, the little guy tries to walk and climb, to get his darned sneakers. Even though the nurses have long accepted him as incurable 'invalid', a "cripple", he keeps fighting. Until the end, when the janitor lady encourages "the kid" it's gonna be alright, he's saying he is not a kid. Her name is Tatyana and he's actually a she. And this is the person of integrity and sheer human will we see in the beginning. This is how strong women are written. Take notes, Hollywood.

Makes me think about a comment I heard President of Russia Putin make, he said when asked about alien, ''Its true, the movie men in black is based on true events''. He was referring to the Russian documentary Men in Black not the Hollywood remake. However, these iconic and strange alien movies that come from Russia, may be based on leaked information from Russian authorities on a personal level regarding aliens.
