I'd personally say that being on a medium-sized houseboat would be the way to go. Get enough fuel for moving when necessary but anchor it at an inlet surrounded by reefs with a depth around 30-40 feet and make sure to stash plenty of canned and preserved foods and plenty of buckets for gathering rainwater alongside a 50 gallon water barrel. You could probably manage fine for a good 9 months at least as long as you fished and drank collected rainwater while supplementing with canned/preserved foods. By that point a lot of the zombies would be rotting away. I'd avoid colder climates though because zombies would just freeze and thaw repeatedly.

..you can't put animals in the overhead bin. they become a vacuum during the flight so there is no air, it will kill the animal (and sadly has). but to think...dude was putting the rats in there first the whole movie would've been prevented if the cage fit, lol
