I'm 63 and started watching Tom's films in the 80's. I've loved him ever since then, what a lovely man and great actor. I love it when he comes to the UK to do chat shows, he's much loved here. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in the 80's he had a sort of thing where he incorporated a kitchen whisk in his movies. I think it may have begun in "Batchelor Party"? He chased a woman with a whisk, and it cropped up in a few more of his films too - my sisters and I noticed it and thought it was hilarious. No-one else noticed!!!

I passed him on a street where I was walking my dog and he was filming wgat turned out to be Larry Crowne, as I approached I saw 2 men talking on a sidewalk, I was getting ready to walk around but he grabbed the man he was talking to and stepped aside for me. He said a very friendly "Hello" as I passed inches from him and we exchanged smiles. Of course, as I got by him I realized who he was and thought "Wow, cool!" - Lastly, I can't EVEN think of Tom Hanks in movies without feeling moved. I was so upset watching Capt. Phillips. Ugh. I was crying, I leave it at that for those who have not seen it. He is sooooo good in every role!!

Wow, he's nailed that aspect of a U.S. Southern accent I grew up in MIssisipi nd still have some of thoese sounds in my brain-to vocal chords- journey. Yes! I remember doing that hard "ing" sound. I wish now that I hadn't tried to lose it so hard when I moved to Santa Cruz in the early '70s, wasn't hard to lose but regretabble.
