About Titanic and Jack fitting on the door. 😂 It’s not about the space available on the door. It’s that the door could not hold buoyancy with both of their weights. It was stable with Rose’s weight, but once Jack tries to get on the door sinks and capsizes. It’s that simple.

The Professional is very much about a romantic relationship and not a paternal one. Leon is mentally disabled and Mathilda is more mature due to her terrible life. Basically a child in an adult body and vice-versa. She’s actually trying to seduce him, but he turns her down cuz he knows that it’s wrong. Luc Besson has confirmed this in interviews etc.
@sonnercampbell17029 ай бұрын
I have a suggestion for a video along similar lines to these last two: Movies that you have changed opinions on. Whether it’s movies that you disliked at first and like now or vice versa, or movies that you look at differently now than when you first saw them. For an example of what I’m trying to get at: I didn’t like The Exorcist when I first saw it, I was 13 and it had been built up as the scariest movie ever made (I can’t even count how many horror movie tv spots have had “the scariest movie since The Exorcist” in them) that it just couldn’t live up to those expectations. A few years later I rewatched it and I could appreciate the quality of the filmmaking but still couldn’t connect with it on an emotional level. But then a few years ago I started to love it; I realized that the scariest thing about The Exorcist (if you don’t believe in demons or hell, that is) is watching someone you love suffer and being powerless to do anything to stop it. That’s what made me love The Exorcist I hope I didn’t ramble too long, but this was a thought provoking video. 👍

Hi friend. Yes, it's a fantastic idea for a video. I've actually done one with my good friend Jon (plaidx2) on his channel. We did Movies We Didn't Like Until We Watched Them Again. I'm sure I can do one on this channel and maybe I'll even get Jon to join me for Part 2. Thanks so much for watching and the request. I've got it on the list for content. 🙂

The ending of Kane was very touching. Remembering a simpler life when he was a child. I think it's perfect and of course the dolly shot through his possessions is awesome. Rebel Without a Cause is by far my favorite of Dean's films. And Nick Ray is a better director than Stevens and Kazan. BTW Touch Of Evil is one of my 13 all time favorite films.

I could barely make it through Titanic, and my wife thought Leo looked more like Kate’s son age-wise than her love interest. As for Terrifier, I’m a horror fan but I turned it off during that hacksaw scene. I consider it torture porn, and don’t find that scary or entertaining or artful. It’s just gross and brutal and gratuitous. Good video!

Fun fact: Celene Dion didn't want to do that song when they asked her to for titanic because she didn't think it fit the movie too well but James Cameron and the music producer for the movie convinced her to try and sing it and see how she feels

Additionally, the vocal you hear was her first and only take for the film demo. When she put the song on her own album later she did re-record it.

I agree on most of these. Titanic is well made, but I never want to sit through it again. There is a scene or two in Leon I could do without along the lines you mentioned. I haven’t seen any James Dean yet. I haven’t seen Terrifier yet either. I really liked Lawrence of Arabia - I saw it for the first time on a big screen about 10+ years ago and picked up the blu-ray soon after, but I agree there are lots of dead air spots in there. I am like your on Last House and I Spit On Your Grave. I bought them back in the DVD age, watched them, and never wanted to see them again. I would also throw Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox on that pile. I dig Step Brothers and its absurdity. Elf is pretty obnoxious. I like about half of Ferrells stuff and the other half I can’t stand. Great video! I hope your dog is doing better!

Hi friend and thanks so much for the great comment. I definitely agree with everything you've mentioned here. I'll get through LOA. It's a beautiful movie and maybe I should have just seen it in theaters. I would really like to see Will Ferrell in a more dramatic role because I'd just like to see him do anything different. I love even comedians switch to to drama. Those usually end up being some of my favorites. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I really do appreciate it. 🙂

Another great stream! Two movies that have received acclaim that I didn't enjoy are Gone With the Wind. I watched until the ending and realize that I just didn't care about the story. The other one is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, It was too long with not much happening. I enjoyed the very end but I felt it took too long to get there.

Hi friend and thanks for the very kind comment. I get you with Gone With The Wind and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. I struggled through Gone With The Wind but then a friend who had never seen it wanted to watch it so I went through it again. I liked it a bit more the second time around but I think I'm done with it now. As for the other, I feel like some of the plot was super weird and disjointed and I didn't care for some of the creative liberties he took with the ending. But that's just my opinion; I was ok for most of the movie overall. Just little things bugged me and maybe I was overly picky. 😂😂 Thanks so much for checking out the video.

I’m with you on the comedy movies, especially modern comedies for me. I can’t stand Step Brothers, I used to keep it because every girl I knew liked it so it became a go to date movie 😅. I totally agree with your take on Titanic and John Wick 3. I love John Wick 1 and 2 but I struggled with 3. I totally agree that 4 made up for 3. Titanic was fine the first time I saw it but for me, I don’t care if I ever see it again. James Cameron lost me with this movie. However, I love everything he did before Titanic.

Hi friend. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on some of the movies. I generally like James Cameron as a filmmaker but I guess Titanic just didn't hit with me like it did with others. I remember it being so wildly popular when it came out. Everyone was raving about it and I was just kind of, meh. But I think that happens a lot when movies are really hyped up. Some people are going to feel like it didn't live up to the hype. Thanks so much for checking out the video 🙂

I felt the same way about Leon the Pro. When I first saw Titanic I felt DiCaprio was miscast. I didn't buy him and Kate as a couple and I wished it was more about the tragedy. Step Brothers I liked the first half then they just overdid the joke. Parasite is one everybody raved about but for me it was just ok for a 1 and done.

Yeah, if the imagery in the first Terrifier is too much, part 2 is gonna be tough sledding for you. Great video!

Citizen Kane, the ending is amazing, it tells everything Kane lost, in becoming the man he got to be. I think the ending is sad, because in life we make choices, Kane was taken away from, from his life, his boyhood, he did`nt get to play, have fun, and what about love. In that last scene, we see what he saved, and remembered, but never had. The movie was so much ahead of it`s time, in the way it was shot/edited + dir. The cast is fantastic.
@MovieChatter019 ай бұрын
Hi friend. I get it and I really am a fan of the movie. I guess I was just expecting something different from the ending, which is absolutely on me as the viewer. I felt like we knew all through the movie that Kane was unhappy and that there were things in his life that would have made him a happier person. I guess what I meant by my comments was that I thought they were going to reveal something that we, as viewers, didn't already know. But I get it and have absolute respect for why it's held in such high regard. It's an excellent film. Thanks so much for watching and the very insightful comment. 🙂

The ending of citizen Kane: I feel that if it had been anything grander it would have missed the point completely. The whole point is that even though he had this epic life at the end he wished for simpler things. It was the last time he was truly happy and at peace. It’s what makes the movie great.
@MovieChatter019 ай бұрын
Hi friend. Yes, I definitely agree with you and that was my thinking when I found out what it was. Definitely showed that was the last time he was truly happy. I guess I just had higher expectations but it didn't mean the movie got it wrong at all. I think it's easy to expect a huge reveal with things that are built up that way when in fact, it's a pretty simple thing with significant meaning. Thanks for watching.

Great video, Stephanie! Off the top of my head, 2 movies people love that I don't are Goodfellas & Talk To Me. I have a story about Titanic. So, I saw it in theaters back in '97 & really liked it. For whatever reason I never owned it. Fast forward to it coming out on 4K. I decided to buy it & watch it for my 2nd time. I absolutely loved it! I, too, always thought there was room on the door for Jack or that they could've taken turns or something. Watching it again, I realized the door barely stayed afloat with just Rose on it & she barely survived the cold after being on it the whole time herself. I enjoyed the fact that it was primarily a love story. It wasn't a documentary, after all. 😏 (Maybe it's because I'm so lonely & such a romantic, but I wept after watching it. 😳) Anyway, hands down one of my all-time favorites now, although not one I'll watch often. I like Step Brothers. Elf is one of my Christmas musts. Will Ferrell movies are hit-or-miss for me. I think, if you lose any subscribers because they disagree with your opinions, they weren't worth having as subscribers. You always have something interesting to say & you are very kind with how you state your opinions. I've had horrible things said to me online because someone disagreed with my opinion. I believe so much in being kind and polite, but after all I've had people say to me, I'm at the point where I want to say "if you don't like it, suck it!" 😎 I really enjoy your videos. You're one of the few movie fan KZbinrs I still subscribe to. I feel like a lot of the KZbinrs become very full of themselves when they reach a certain level & you aren't like that at all. This is a great video! I may have to do one like it. Stephanie, you are the first person I've heard saying they felt let down by Rosebud!!!!! I hear what you're saying, though. Citizen Kane is kind of an acquired taste for a lot of people. I acknowledge it as a classic, mainly because I've always heard everyone in the universe calling it a classic! I like it more every time I see it, but it's not on my list of favorites. Rebel Without a Cause is almost sacred to me, so I'll have to disagree with you on this one. James Dean's acting style, with his amplified emotions and movements, are the qualities that set him apart and made him capture so many hearts. I consider Rebel to be a perfect film. I've only seen Titanic once, when it first came out. I like it, but I'm not crazy about it. And I feel your pain regarding the song. Enough already! I finally got around to seeing Lawrence of Arabia a few years ago, and I was seriously underwhelmed. I doubt that I will watch it again. As for I Spit On Your Grave, I've never seen it, and have no desire to. You obviously have a lot of sensitivity concerning exaggerated, pointless violence that adds nothing important or artistic to a film. And that's a good quality to have.
@MovieChatter019 ай бұрын
Hi friend and thank you so much for the great comment. I get what you're saying about Citizen Kane. Maybe I worded it wrong. It's not that I didn't care for the ending but more like the film showed us how unhappy he was in his adult life. And we knew his childhood seemed to be happy. I was waiting for a big reveal of something we hadn't already seen through the movie is all. But it's one I really do enjoy and revisit often. I'm definitely not a fan of certain types of violence in films. I get there are times where things are fitting but things like I Spit On Your Grave just seem really unnecessary so they're not for me. Thanks so much for watching and if you decide to do a video on this, do let me know so I can support it. 🙂

I saw All Hallow's Eve on Joe Bob Briggs Last Drive In on Shudder and I guess it was a good horror film and I do like dark material or depressing films, moreso depressing films with sad endings that are not usually horror. It might have been a little unsettling. By the way, the reason I got I Spit On Your Grave was because it has a commentary by Joe Bob Briggs on it and I like his Last Drive In Show on Shudder. I agree. What little I saw of Elf I found silly or may I say dull. Regarding the nature of Leon and Mathilda’s relationship in The Professional. It’s an interesting and bold move on Besson’s part to go there, and I don’t find it exploitative or necessarily uncomfortable. It’s fathomable, given these particular characters. Mathilda is certainly precocious and perhaps was sexually abused in her past, which explains why she believes this is what Leon wants or expects. As for Leon, Mathilda is perhaps the only person who has ever cared for him and who he has ever cared about. His attention to her is clearly paternal. When he realizes Mathilda is offering him more, he wisely and gently lets her down. Leon is a great and very unique movie which succeeds in pulling off an uncomfortable subject with grace and class.

@@MovieChatter01 I'm with you on Titanic 100%. Seeing as I couldn't get onboard (no pun intended) with Rose and Jack's relationship, there was far too much of this movie which bored me. I remember being surrounded at the time of its release with adoring fans who couldn't understand my distaste for it and actually thought I was faking my opinion to get attention! As with all of Cameron's films, I can't fault the technical quality of all other aspects, though.

I agree with you on every movie you mentioned that I have seen. My confession here- I've never watched Citizen Kane. It's on my list, hell- it's on my shelf! Someday. I laughed at James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. Waaay too much in some scenes. And while I don't always steer clear of even graphic violence, If I know a movie has scenes with graphic violence involving sexual assault, rape, or any racial component, I just stay away- those things take me out of the movie and there is nothing for me to enjoy no matter what follows. I got the same vibe from Leon as you, and had the same issues with Titanic as you. And Will Ferrell- I don't get him at all. I thought he was okay in the smaller role he had in Old School, but since he became a big star I get too much of him well before most of his movies end. And as far as the movies from your last video, I watched Licorice Pizza and Downsizing this week and loved them both. I get that people might have problems with the stories in both. They did seem to kinda go all over the place with no clear direction here and there, but I loved so many of the characters in those films that I just wanted to see them whatever they were doing. Sorry to be so wordy, I just really got into this video, I guess. Thanks for finding the time to make it despite the bumpy road this week. I hope everyone is doing better now. I spit on your Grave and Last House on the left - After you mentioned I thought to myself, I wonder if He seen "Irreversible." Lol. I remember thinking the same thing with Titanic on certain scenes. There was one particular when Jack is handcuffed and She comes looking for Him. She finds him and HE goes Rose, your so stupid Rose, Kiss, kiss, Rose, Rose, over and over and over. I HATE every Rob Zombie movie as well as EVERY Zack Snyder movie. Neither has made 1 good movie and people worship them.

Good video. I'm definitely with you on Lawrence of Arabia. I saw it about 30 years ago and thought it was pretty good but slow in spots. I tried to rewatch it in 4k, and although it's beautiful, I kept falling asleep during it. My wife doesn't like watching movies as much as me, so I usually watch them after she goes to bed, so watching them in the evening doesn't help. I understand the hate for the Celine Dion song because it was overplayed but during that time I switched channels or walked away before it drove me completely nuts. That said, I watched Titanic in 4k and liked it more than when I last watched it, 20 something years ago. The picture in 4k was amazing. I also liked Step Brothers a lot but think Elf is just ok. Talladega Nights with Will Ferrell and John C Reilly is one of my favorite movies and I went into thinking I wouldn't like it because I'm not a NASCAR fan but it was hilarious. I'm a comedy fan, though. My weak genres would be musicals, westerns and war movies. I prefer scifi, horror, comedy and drama. I felt the length of John Wick 4, more than John Wick 3 but like both. I also understand your dislike of some movies because of scenes being too disturbing. I watched Clockwork Orange only once because the violence turned me off, so it's a one-time watch for me. The weird thing is movies like Death Wish and Death Wish 2 are probably just as violent but I like them.
@MovieChatter019 ай бұрын
Hi friend and thanks for the very insightful comment. I'm still hoping I'll be able to finish LOA one of these days and the 4K was stunning. I'll give it that for sure. There are definitely some parts of Titanic that I like and I think it's a very well done movie. I'm just a tough sell with all the romance but I do get the love for the movie. My brother LOVES Will Ferrell and he is a huge fan of Talladega Nights. Then he got my nieces into it so I'm surrounded. 😂😂😂 It's fine though and I get that I'm also tough with the comedy genre. I think when it comes to violent movies, I'm fine with some but not as much with others. I really think it's all about the story and how they work together. Just my thinking though. Thanks so much for watching and the great comment. I really appreciate it. 🙂👋👋

I was underwhelmed with Kane, I was expecting more of a focus on society issues rather than the travails of a big business person. A much better movie around that time was The Life of Emile Zola (Best pic winner 1937) about a real struggle with someone who actually stood up for what he believed in. I'm fairly certain the second half of Lawrence was better, It's a flat out survival tale with the spectacle of tribal people trying to get to the strategic city and facing the opposition. The odd thing about Lawrence is you find out what happened to him in the first five minutes. When I finally watched Elf, I didn't feel like I was missing much, but Ferrell had me laughing in Kicking and Screaming, especially when he became a Coffee Person. His worst effort has to be that Sherlock Holmes fiasco, which got turned off 15 minutes in.

This is embarrassing to say, but I've tried twice to watch It's a Wonderful Life (not that you mentioned it) and the first 20 minutes do me in. Can't get past them, yet I love what the movie's about. I saw Titanic. Liked it, didn't love it. And I've never watched Lawrence of Arabia because I figured it would be EXACTLY like you described, and that I'd be bored to tears. Hello again! I heard that Kelly is a huge fan of "Titanic". Well here's a fun question to ask her & a great discussion for you both (& others). At the end of the movie you see Rose in her bed & various pictures from her past. Did she pass away or is she sleeping? A lot of people swear that Rose passed away. That's the discussion. I believe she is sleeping & here's the fun validation of that theory. In the beginning of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On", Celine sings "Every night in my dreams I see you". That is why you see the pictures as Rose is dreaming. 100% my opinion. Take care! --- Bill (From Mt. Holly, NJ)

Insofar as Titanic is concerned, it wasn't just the romance that had me not enjoying it-- it was the high society bull gipp as well (what I wanted was simply for the ship to sail, hit the iceberg and sink; it didn't need all the filler). You're too kind! I am not as shy when it comes to movies I don't enjoy. And, no one should ever think bad of you for not liking a movie. I tend not to like blockbusters. I like quirkier films. Here's a shortlist: Titanic Armageddon Independence Day Men In Black Most Marvel movies (though I do like Guardians of the Galaxy) The English Patient Knocked Up 40 Year Old Virgin (and I like Steve Carrell) Ace Ventura The Cable Guy (I thought I would like this movie, but it was quirky for the mainstream) Liar Liar (It's not all about Jim... I do like a few of his movies) Most Wes Anderson movies (not my type of quirk... and I really dislike Owen Wilson for some reason) 30 Days of Night (I thought this one might make you mad... it was ok, but I didn't get the hype... loved the idea though) Inception Avatar Pearl Harbor The Patriot Shutter Island The Wolf of Wall Street Pan's Labrynth (Beautiful, but didn't connect with me) OK. That's enough for now. I love Citizen Kane and the ending really connects with me (as someone that misses their magical childhood)... I watched Lawrence of Arabia again in the last 10 years and I remember being a bit of a slog. I kind of remember liking it as a kid... I guess my attention span was better then. I liked Leon The Professional, but yeh, Natalie Portman had a few creepy roles as a young actress (not her fault... what were they thinking???). I have both I Spit On Your Grave and Last House in my collection, but neither film is entertaining and I probably won't watch them again. I have seen both Terrifiers. I do like Art, but the movies are just exploitation without the fun. 2 is better... the set design almost makes it worth watching, but it is essentially gore porn. Great video!

Totally agree on John Wick 3. It's the only one I gave a bad review to on Letterboxd. I didn't care about all the lore in it. 4 was much better, but I am sort of done with John Wick, tbh. Have never seen Step Brothers but Ii really don't like Elf and another Christmas film I can't get into is A Christmas Story. This is mostly like flicks I consider overrated, IMO. Some of these I own as well, especially if I found them on sale. From recent times Barbie leads the list. I really find it hard to believe that was nominated for Best Picture. I also felt Killers of the Flower Moon was just okay, but so far from top Scorsese and another that felt unworthy of Best Picture. Two recent horror films that come to mind are Pearl and Hereditary. Other random ones that come quickly to mind are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Casablanca, The Princess Bride, Braveheart, Jerry Maguire, There Will Be Blood, True Lies, Moonstruck, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Paris Texas, and Brokeback Mountain, I totally understand not liking ISOYG and The Last House on the Left, but I think they are effectively realistic. I am very impressed that there is a 4K of ISOYG, which you have put on my radar. I would recommend maybe listening to commentaries before you part with them, because they approach the movies in interesting ways, but maybe just leave the sound on and don't watch the movie. Terrifier I do like the series, but I am not quite loving them yet. I hope the 3rd Xmas themed one really knocks it out of the park. Mostly because I adore the holiday slasher genre. When it comes to "Leon" (The Professional) I expect you watched the extended edition ? I think in that version the relationship is pushed a little further in the direction you're talking about and also changes somewhat because he actually takes her out on some jobs which feels "wrong". I love the movie but I would only ever watch the theatrical version myself...much better imo.
@MovieChatter019 ай бұрын

@@MovieChatter01 I think a lot of people may only have watched the extended cut because it's really difficult/impossible to get the theatrical version on 4K (at least from what I've seen). I saw Leon at the cinema and own the Blu-ray which (via seamless branching) includes both that theatrical cut and the extended cut but the available 4K is extended cut only 😕It's a bit like "Amadeus" with the Blu-ray, I love that movie and all over the box they say "winner of 8 Academy awards including best picture" but the version they give you on the Blu-ray (extended) is not the version that was shown in the cinema that won the awards ! I'm not saying the extended cut of that version is necessarily bad I just think if you're going to deliver a different cut to the theatrical release on physical media then you should also include the original theatrical cut that won the rewards and/or just started everyone's interest in the movie in the first place. Extended/Director's cuts should be offered as a "bonus" or "alternative" not the "default" or "only option" (imo).

The two that come to mind for me is usual suspects and don't look now. I found usual suspects very confusing as I found the time line really difficult to follow as film went back and forth from past to present so much I felt really baffled.. the don't look now of course the ending is good but for me the rest of the film was really boring. BTW same as yourself I am not trying to gaslight anyone either. I just didn't like those movies for those reasons. I agree with you on John wick 3. Felt like they tried to outdo the previous ones by having excessive shooting and didn't enjoy it. The first John wick is great though. Regarding Leon, I do love Leon very much but I know exactly what you are talking about, especially when he buys her a dress and takes her to a restraunt for meal and a drink. First of all these scenes were cut from the theatrical release. In fact I never seen so much cut out of any film but Leon. Years ago I had seen the theatrical cut of Leon even in this version it was still there but not so much as the longer version. Actually luc Besson the director based the characters loosely on his real relationship with Maiwenn. He dated her when she was 16. She played a character at the beginning of Leon when the man's apartment gets shot up. She also played the Diva in the fifth element and was also in the film switchblade romance. All the same person. But actually the shorter version of Leon is the better version to watch it's not just so bad but it's still there. P.s other ones just come to mind is Harry Potter and Lord of the rings. I got all the Harry Potter films and was planning to go through them all. I couldn't even get through the first one. I just couldn't get into it for some reason, same with lord of the rings. Makes me feel wow everyone elses seems to love these but I suppose we all just like different things.

I Spit On Your Grave is a rough watch. I've watched it twice, once with Joe Bob Briggs' commentary, and have no desire to watch it again. I did enjoy Lawrence of Arabia though, but I share your opinion on the rest. :)

I feel about Jim Carrey the way you feel about Will Farrel. He occasionally gets a chuckle out of me when he actually says something witty, but I just don't vibe with most of his comedy. I think he's a much better dramatic actor where comedy can be sprinkled in. I agree that Leon the Professional is a very good movie that veers a little too far on the gross side. I can accept that someone in the girl's position could feel some sort of way about someone who literally saves her life. That makes perfect sense, and tons of people can say they had a mild crush on an older authority figure when theg were that age, but she gets way too provocative about it at times, and I do not like how Leon's last interaction with her seems to validate those feelings. It's not over the edge, and it doesn't completely ruin the movie for me, but that final moment between them did give me too much of an ick when tbat clearly wasn't the reaction it was trying to elicit. I really windered why the movie seemed to lean into the romantic subtext, and finding out that the director was a French guy definitely made sense of that... I totally get why people love Titanic, but seriously, screw this movie, lol. I get irrationally annoyed whenever I hear that song, too. The song itself is solid, but I think people need to look back on the context of that song within the story. It's extremely toxic, just like the entire romance of this film (and way too many romance films imo). I am one of the last people to denounce long movies for simply being long, but you could have easily told a better version of the exact same story in two hours or less. The worst thing about it is that I really don't like any of the three main characters. If you really think about whaf's going on past the sweeping romantic emotion that subconsciously sell you on to get you invested, they all kinda suck. Entering hot take territory, so look out. While I won't dispute that the fiance reacted inappropriately to everything and kind of objectified Rose like a trophy, I think he's the character I might dislike the least. At least he was eventually willing to let her go and tried to help her in the end when he had nothing to gain in doing so. He wasn't all bad. (Please correct my memory if I'm incorrect.) Jack's an admittedly charismatic little stain stepping in on another man's turf by stealing his woman, and Rose has an incredibly calloused disregard for her fiance and her husband, and she has absolutely no gratitude for her immense privelege. Everybody should search former comedian Owen Benjamin's piano skit about Titanic. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on this movie. Titanic marks the point at which I stop caring about James Cameron. Citizen Kane is great. I won't argue with anyone who dislikes it, but I think it's really good. I didn't really expect it to be as good as everyone says, and I can accept an argument that it might be just a tad overrated, but I was shocked at how much I enjoyed that movie.

Hi friend. I really enjoyed your comments and thoughts on the movies. I'm with you on Jim Carey, too. I feel like he's over the top and always seems to play the same character over and over. I could write a book on the things that drive me crazy about Titanic. 🤣🤣🤣 The song being at the top of the list. As far as Citizen Kane. I really do enjoy the movie. I think the more I watch it, the more I connect with it. I've watched it twice since this video. I get the ending, I really do but I guess that's the one part I just need to make friends with. It's not bad by any means and it explains so much about his character and life. I guess I just thought that his unhappiness as an adult felt a bit obvious during the film. If that makes any sense Thank you so much for watching and the wonderful, thoughtful comment. I really do appreciate it. 🙂👋👋

I agree with your assessment on the horror movies. Have you seen the movie revenge? That is so much better SA revenge movie. I got rid of those movies and replaced them with revenge

Yeah. East of Eden is James deans best movie in my opinion. I thought the same thing about Rebel over acting definitely 👍

Hey Stephanie/Movie Chatter! Yeah, I haven't seen Rebel Without A Cause since I was a teenager, but, looking back, I think the whole point of his performance is just that. He's a rebellious teen looking for meaning through the way he sees the world. I think I didn't pick up on it when I was young, but, looking back, I think that was the point of the movie. You can trash movies Stephanie. That's part of the fun of watching movies. Yeah, Titanic, I've seen more than a few times. I think it sort of goes down like the Titanic after a certain amount of time. I think Fight Club came out around the same time and was overshadowed by this film and Fight Club is one of my favorite films of all time. The Leonardo DiCaprio-Kate Winslet story is a little stupid and annoying. I don't think, of the performances I've seen of his, is Leonardo DiCaprio's finest hour. Maybe I would say The Revenant is maybe his best performance that I have seen. Winslet and Cameron have made better movies. I think the acting in Titanic is a bit overdone and kind of paints stereotypes of some of the people of the boat, regardless of the class they are in.

Hmmm my picks would be Sixth Sense (too gimmicky with the twist ending), The Green Mile (too schmaltzy and overwrought), Gladiator (boring, Joaquin is insufferable and overacting), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (boooorrrrriiiing), and Juno (unfunny, meh characters, superficial pseudo deep). I could go on and on. Agree with most of your picks as well. Though I do adore Lawrence of Arabia.

I agree with you to a certain extent with "Titanic". Technically a brilliant film, but the script is beyond terrible! I have the DVD three disc set from many years ago and will not upgrade to 4K! Thankfully my wife is not a fan LOL! 100% agree with you on John Wick 3! First Wick was good and did not like the rest! Like the Transformers films, lengthy action sequences can be boring! I didn't like John Wick 4 either! I'm in the minority on that one! I refuse to watch "Last House On The Left" (both versions). I LOVE the original film, "The Virgin Spring" ! My wife calls me a movie snob! LOL! I LOVE "Citizen Kane", but I LOVE "Touch Of Evil" MORE! "Touch OF Evil" is my favorite Welles film! The fact that Citizen Kane had more special effects than the first "Star Wars" blows my mind! 1,000% agree on ELF! Film runs out of steam way too early! When Will Farrell has the lead in a film, it usually suffers in my opinion! Films that I feel are overrated (especially on-line): Forrest Gump (Hanks cannot do an accent! Terrible!) Shawshank Redemption (Like both of these films I just feel they're too long and overrated) Christopher Nolan films! The exceptions are "Dunkirk" (The best film Nolan has ever done in my opinion), The Dark Knight Trilogy (even though they are lengthy) and Memento! Blade Runner 2049! (Unnecessary film. Visually stunning but that's where it ends)! Most Tom Hanks films! ALL Marvel films AFTER the first Guardians films! MOST NEW Hollywood films in general! Apologies for the LONG list!

It's hard for me to not like a movie unless it's really bad but I must say my views on superhero movies are no different from Mr. Scorsese

Hi friend. I agree with you on both counts. Like I said in the video, I can pretty much find something to like in most movies. But so many people requested this video, I figured this was the best way to go about it. 🙂 Definitely agree about comic book movies. I've enjoyed some of them for just mindless fun but I think they're by design, just to get people in theater seats, sadly. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. I really do appreciate it. 🙂👋👋

I would buy "I Spit On Your Grave" from you. I haven't watched it in decades, but I remember it being more tolerable that the original "Last House On The Left" (not sure if I saw the remake) because woman is alive to get revenge on her attackers. I remember finding it cathartic, but like you, as I've grown older, my stomach of certain things has greatly diminished. Will Ferrell's one good role was in "Old School" because he wasn't the whole thing. I find "Anchorman" to be unwatchable. I find "Elf" to be a weird movie. Everyone other than Buddy is a horrible person and it's Will Ferrell, so he sucks, too.

Do a little research about Luc Besson, the director of Leon, and I’m pretty sure that you gonna find a lot of very disturbing elements involving minors and that will explain why you feel like that watching The Professional. It’s not just a weird feeling, there’s a lot of reality in what you’ve said.
