I just found this out from The Sun: Maria gave a shoutout to her husband in her anecdote. She didn't tell him because she wanted to surprise him. Unfortunately, her husband passed away suddenly three weeks ago, on November 29. This episode was filmed in October, so he never got to see her shoutout. 😢

19 game Jeopardy champion David Madden was mentioned today! David Madden was the second superchampion in the show's history, right after 74 game champion Ken Jennings, in 2005. He returned this past year in the Jeopardy Invitational Tournament, defeating the third superchampion in the show's history, 11 game champion Arthur Chu, and lost to 40 game champion Amy Schneider in a really tight game! David Madden also lost to Victoria Groce in his original run. Victoria went on to win season 2 of Jeopardy Masters and is the only giant killer to defeat multiple superchampions and win a tournament.

HORRIBLE wagering by the middle contestant. The MOST he should have wagered is $1801, so he could go into the lead. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN WIN from 3rd place in this instance is IF EVERYONE gets it wrong and FJ is a toughie (it was !). He got what he needed - a tough FJ. Then bungled the wagering. Unbelievable.

Yes, you definitely need to read the questions very carefully, piece by piece, I have found myself. I did not have a guess for this question. I love film noir by not necessarily the gangster films.

It was less his wager being horrifying than it was Laura’s being unorthodox. $4,000 covers all of the leaders’ small bets (if correct) and stays ahead on a Triple Stumper if both leaders miss and bet to cover. Had all three players made orthodox wagers, he would have won - Laura simply made a smaller wager that worked out for her
