Trancers caught in the VHS era, and it stuck with me, too. Sequel is ok but its tamed down and I had no idea there's a 3 and 4. Thanks for the warning. Pufinstuf grew up on too. Colour TV in the 70's I had but you are seeing it much better now. Red Shoes was my mom's favorite movie and one of those films that I hated at first but I liked much later. Good picks Terry!

I loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I saw it in on the big screen and liked it so much that I bought the DVD. The commentary on it is exceptionally funny!

Everything about it is a lot of fun. Shane Black's dialogue is always delicious.

Happy Holidays and new year. I love the Age of Consent, it’s of it’s time but has an incredible charm. Satan’s Slave is a 70s uk horror treasure!

Nice ones Terry. I must admit Puff N Stuff is a guilty pleasure of mine from way back when. I just watched some Jimmy Cagney movies; Blood On the Sun (1945) and, yes, Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942). I'd heard about the latter for years but I don't think I would have appreciated it at all when I was younger. Add to those, Country Girl (1954) with Grace Kelly, William Holden and Bing Crosby in a serious dramatic role. A very surprising movie. (all op-shop buys btw) Cheers and Enjoy !

Of the three fantastic P&P movies I rewatched on Amazon Prime in September 2024 “The Red Shoes” is still the best. The use of colors and cinematography are superb and so is the acting and the story. - The Red Shoes (1948) - Black Narcissus (1947) - The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943)

I need to get a copy of They're a Weird Mob (I have the book somewhere here), but I definitely have Blu-rays of The Red Shoes, Age of Consent, and Peeping Tom, amongst my collection of Powell and Pressburger films. Anyway all the very best for your movie-watching between now and the new year.

You too, Brett. The book of TAWM still shows up in op shops to this very day.

Great list though most of which are not my style. I totally agree with you on Naked Jungle and loved this film so much that I searched out the original Escape and Suspense radio adaptations of the original story "Leiningen Versus the Ants." As is often the case I am educated by your posts and have to admit I have never heard of "Secret of the Incas" which is odd as I love these kinds of movies. I will have to look it up during my Christmas Break. Merry Christmas.

Secret of the Incas also has Yma Sumac! A bonus!

Satan's Slave is very good. Not as sleazy as it sounds. Don't let anyone spoil the ending for you! One of Michael Gough's best horror roles, and that's saying something.

I was smitten with Helen Mirren after watching the uncut version of “Age of Consent” (1969) as a teenager in the 1970s. She was a goddess in my eyes.
@terrytalksmovies16 сағат бұрын
She's still a great actress, too.

@ Helen Mirren is a great actress! She was great in my favorite Arthurian Legend movie “Excalibur” (1981), my favorite British Gangster movie “The Long Good Friday” (1980) and of course in her Oscar-winning role as “The Queen” (2006).

Wait a minute, or two. Having the livestream traverse from 11PM one day to 1AM the next three times in a row makes it a six year project, not three. (Logic courtesy of the Leap Year Institute.) Otherwise, stay safe, and keep watching the Stars!

Have a great Holiday Season Terry.. Going to explore the Korean "My Wife Is A Gangster" trilogy over here in Blighty. If you have a chance the Peter Capaldi series "The Devil's Hour" , is well worth a watch. A very interesting twist on the serial killer genre.

I always mistake Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with The Long Kiss Goodnight for some reason. Haven't seen either. Seen the Powell films except for They're A Weird Mob, hard to find here. I liked Vampire Circus especially that creepy scene where they hypnotize 2 young boys. I heard they needed more time to finish and hammer had no money to do so. Future Dr. Who companion & wife of Tom Baker, Lalla Ward, is one of the vampires. Happy Christmas!

Did you know that climatologists found evidence of a temperature spike near Dunk Isle, North Queensland in 1969? They speculate that something "Very Hot" with blonde fur was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef.

“Battle Royale” (2000) is brutal but quite watchable. I can’t say the same for the horribly nasty “Ichi the Killer” (2001).
@terrytalksmovies18 сағат бұрын
I like them both. 🙂
@RamZar5012 сағат бұрын
@ I have to disagree on any redeeming value for “Ichi the Killer”. It’s a senseless gorefest. British Board of Film Classification “took issue with the violence toward women in the film, and it refused to allow the film to release uncut”. It was banned in Norway and Malaysia, and banned for distribution in Germany. Ichi the Killer premiered in 2001 at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the “attendees were given barf bags prior to the screening, an effective and appropriate memento that some viewers might actually use when watching”.

I liked Trancers, but thought that the sequels were probably rubbish. I'll check out Trancers II - thanks! I just watched the Aussie film Chain Reaction, and enjoyed it. Good action, a fancy fast truck, mean bad guys, and tits! Brollie lets me watch some of their movies. I'm near San Diego, California. Good Holidays to you, Grrrl and the kitties!!!
