What also made the NWO huge was that it turned Hulk Hogan heel. That was a WTF moment. The promo that Hulk gave in the ring after the turn? That frustration and anger was genuine. That is what that promo so good.

It’s so simple they need to just 1) Hire some fucking writers to make some storyline’s people are wanting to tune in for, good matches are not enough by themselves 2) retire/ merge half of the titles they have to make championships mean something again 3) get rid of the giant factions that have 100 people in them and stick to classic tag teams for the most part

They don’t need some random writers, they need actual experts that are good at their jobs in positions like head of creative, head of talent relations , etc…

They have absolutely nothing without the rock/Rhodes dynamic boosting that bloodline story. With the rock temporarily gone Tony khan needs to pounce on the opportunity. He needs to Vince Russo crash tv, hot shot whatever he has to do.

I'm into AWE more, like the action. If they can create a lane that's works within that, it suits me better. WWE has great storylines, but some drag out too long. I think Khan should have a GM for either both brands or one, the one problem I have AWE is that TSN would air Dynamite regularly, but Collision only periods at a time, unless you order TSN+. I watch all 3 brands, which is better for the wrestler and industry as a whole

Thank you for this, was a fan of NHL, NBA, NFL and WWF as a kid, now more of UFC fan. Got back into wrestling this past year, mostly WWE, and found there is too many hours of content to keep up with. 1 hour a week was the best as a kid, as an adult the whatever 6+ hours is way too much. I did enjoy WM 39 and 40. Lost interest after WCW failed, there were zero excuses for those really bad storylines. I want AEW to succeed, but it lacks interesting basic storylines and there is a strong backyard wrestling vibe that I can't get over (maybe all the skinny little guys). HHH in WWF is basically Vince still there and some of the garbage of the industry still there. AEW has/had the opportunity to make things right and go in the "right" direction but instead shoot themselves in the foot with their decisions.

"Dynamite" is in Winnipeg next week. That's Omega's hometown. Jericho's too. You can bet that the locals want to see their home boy Kenny. But, in kayfabe, The Bucks fired Kenny for not showing up to work. Kenny as Commish might work because he's a solid promo. Omega's previous connection with The Bucks would also give more layers to the story.

The only positive I see possibly coming of this is somehow get Shad Khan as an on screen talent. It's sad to say but he looked bigger and scarier than 90 percent of that roster. The Bucks are at the lowest in their popularity. Okada isn't worth the flight from Japan if they put him in cargo. Perry looked the same size as Tony Khan. And the Booker T thing you mentioned yes he should have won. Problem was Booker T wasn't the planned opponent. It was suppose to be Hunter vs Steiner 3 with Steiner going over, but the matches at Royal Rumble and No Way Out were so poorly recieved that they scrapped it and just threw Booker in. So had he won they had no plan for him afterwards.
@fatmanchew909
@fatmanchew909 6 ай бұрын
I'm glad Khan using this moment to try to make it a storyline but man you'd think he'd hire an acting coach to make him look more credible and have the Bucks not look so cartoonish. I can't tell who's the face and who's the heel in this segment and I'm one of the people who actually like the Bucks. Also repeated storylines worked back in the territory days because you had to watch it live and 8-10 years later it was a new generation of fans. Now most of us relive the Monday Night Wars anytime we want with just a youtube search. Repeating storylines work if you add to it but if you end up doing a line by line repeat with less flair it's going to make things worse.

All The EVP faction needs are The Bucks, Okada, and Perry. Smarmy EVP Bucks have been highly entertaining. Okada has such charisma that he can be the ultimate dick and it works. Okada is with The Bucks because they are all friends. Let The Bucks do the promos because doing promos live in a second language can be tough. Okada can focus on wrestling. Perry is the Wild Card. I know that he spent 2-3 months in NJPW on excursion. His first attempt at a heel did not work in AEW. NJPW gave him the time to do character work that Jack would not have gotten on AEW TV. NJPW fans saw Perry, but most Americans didn't. I saw the hug of Jack Perry and Tony Khan and Perry's smirk was so good. His promo afterward had him so comfortable on the mic. It's a great first step. Jack Perry as a chicken shit heel can work in a stable with The Bucks.

Too bad Tony went on the NFL Network and made a complete jackass out of himself. He actually said AEW is like Pepsi, and WWE is like Harvey Weinstein. WTF?! What a stupid, horrible comparison that makes no sense. He couldn't just say... Coke? Or would saying it out loud cause Siri to call his drug dealer? Tony is the one causing all this tribalism, it's been that way since the inception of their company... and it's so embarrassing to watch. I really wish he would step down and let someone else be in charge, he's going to end up with about 45 viewers total if he keeps this up.

I agree and disagree. It just all looked like a Saturday night live skit and no one can take Young Bucks or Jungle boy serious. Okada great performer but he has no charisma. Khan needs to stay off camera because he’s too cringe and has no clue what he’s doing. This would’ve worked perfectly if it was done by believable badasses.

What you said COULD have happened if Khan was smart, but after running his mouth again (on an NFL show, no less, so he thinks he can get away with throwing shade at WWE), I do not trust his regime at all. Honestly, my biggest gripe with Khan appearing as an onscreen character is not cause he lied about it (which is still pretty bad, cause it proves you cannot trust his words), but rather, this script has been recycled so much that I never want to see anyone try their hand at Austin vs McMahon ever again. It sounds harsh, since it was the storyline that defined the Attitude Era, but that was over 20 years ago, not to mention that this script has been copied over and over and over again, there is just no interest left no matter what spin you take on it. Of course, leave it to Khan's hubris to think HE can make it work, and his hardliner fan base will heap praise on it simply cause they share the same anti-WWE stance. Also, personal note to Tony Khan: you do realize that while Mr McMahon did get his comeuppance multiple times over, it was McMahon who ultimately WON this feud in the end, if you count WrestleMania 17 as the end of this storyline and Attitude Era. By comparing yourself to Stone Cold Steve Austin, sure, you come off as that badass rebel who does as he please while flipping "the man" off, but you are aware how this story ends, right? AEW has kicked WWE's butt several times during its honeymoon period, but as of now, WWE is still trucking along, nowhere near the brink of collapse, a narrative AEW hardliner fans keep boasting about.

Here is a list of AEW's problems: 1) TK needs to stop booking the show and hire Scott D'Amore from TNA 2) Get rid of about 70 wrestlers on that roster because there is almost 200 already 3) Get rid of ROH and just use the video library for when they get their network deal 4) Stop having so many Japan stars and their belts that the casual fan doesn't care about on the show 5) Fire the EVP's and hire people more qualified who don't have a conflict of interest

What I would out of the box do ,which would be hard to do with this smart mark culture. Would find a bunch of Samoan cousins that are real life blood connected to rock, reigns and etc... back a truck load of money on there drive way . I would have these big ass humans (hall Nash) show up on AEW and bury the bloodline for skipping them over. Over whatever subtle thing hall and Nash got away with back in the day You cant call them bloodline ,but you can create a name that is in culture, so it will mean more .

For me, the most intriguing story line in wrestling right now is the Young Bucks since Okada joined the elite. I go out of my way to find all clips/matches for them. After last dynamite, I'm fully invested in this and with Kenny coming back next week, can't wait. Long term booking of Okada vs Omega at all in and in the short term setup a blood and guts match between the new elite vs omega/hangman/FTR (my guess), inject it into my veins.

I'm sorry but I don't see any part of this angle working out. Neither of the persons involved generates heat in the classical sense. Not the Bucks, not Perry or Tony Khan. This whole thing is cringe not generating excitement. Especially considering how AEW was originally built on the premise of denouncing exactly this kind of booking in regards to WWE at the time. The only way I can see this growing into anything is if they manage to get other people dragged into this that viewers actually care about and that are somehow connected to the 'higher ups'. A Bryan Danielson or as you said a Kenny Omega once he is cleared to wrestle. Then I see a tiny possibility for it working.

Who cared though? Bucks no one cares about, jack perry was publicly embarrassed by tk via showing the video which also embarrassed tk too in the process. When the outsiders powerbombed eric bischoff you already had the crowd invested heavily into all three characters and they were all minus bischoff main event characters who could talk. You had a clear heel and babyface. Where as in this you got 4 people no one cares about. McMahon and stone cold, Stone Cold was so over at that point it was easy to do the boss angle. This could be a well written storyline, but who cares about the characters involved? Understand he likes jungle boy, but even Omega made it perfectly clear that perry has no mic skills. This would of been better if you got swerve instead of jungle boy, instead of treating swerve like hey everyone he is black we got a black champion. This could of propelled Swerve to the next level and he could of made a new faction to run the place. Think how better this would have been if it were swerve and the house of black as his enforcers and they destroyed khan and his father. Now we talking hold on whats going on here. Instead we got the if a tree falls and no one is there to see it fall does it make a sound analogy.
