Why he pronounces things weird? Because he grew up in prison. I think I remember him knowing English because it was only spoken to him. So he reads words like a kid, trying to sound it out. It's like knowing a lot of words from reading, but never having to say it out loud before.

Yeah, Despicable Me was Illumination. However, that and Megamind came out the same year and are both are about supervillains who find a reason to become heroes, so I think Megamind was overshadowed by Despicable Me more than anything else. @deathpearl3603 жыл бұрын
If anything that makes Megamind amazing, it's the character development and it just shows how different u manage urself as a person. Megamind literally grew up on the wrong side of life. You can tell at a very young age he wanted to help ppl. He grew up with prisoners so of course he is going to help the prisoners escape without really understanding what good and bad was. When he went to school, he is not only the odd one but since he came from prison, he was an easy target for bullying. With Metroman making everyone happy with his superpowers, Megamind really wanted to make ppl happy even if he wasn't as gifted as Metroman. he can use his skills and abilities to make others happy but it always turned into a disaster and thus, he continued to be the black sheep of school. He felt if he isn't capable of making others happy, then he can keep living the "bad" life that he has always been known. But honestly, he copies the typical supervillain tropes but if u ever notice, he never really destroys Metro City or really even hurt someone badly as you can see everytime he kidnaps her, he mainly threatens her but never carries out his threats. His goal is really just to win over Metroman and show that he is still better without having superpowers. But even greatness becomes boring when you have nothing else to work for. Also, dating Roxanne gave him purpose and made him want to change for the better. Metroman is of course amazing and at first, I didn't like him. But after the reveal, he proved to be more human than most ppl think. He was always praised for his good deeds and he thrives to help others for he is the best. And that is something that was also troubling. He wasn't sure if ppl really appreciated him or were afraid of his powers which was why they gave him this godly praise. U can tell as time goes on, he too felt the toll of being the best. He realizes everyone made a choice to be whoever they wanted and I do feel that despite all his battles with Megamind, he does envy the fact that Megamind chose his own role in life. He felt trapped and wanted to be his own person for once rather than what society chose for him. As for Hal, although seemingly a good guy, you can tell his personality isn't great. He is the typical entitled NICE GUY who thinks if he is nice to girls then girls should like him although he doesn't even take the time to appreciate or get to know Roxanne's interests that much. As u also see that even though he is a cameraman, he is lazy and really doesnt strive to do much good other than be with Roxanne. And with Roxanne's involvement in Megamind and Metroman battles, Hal always believed that Roxanne is into Metroman for they were always seeming like a couple but it never really was like that. Hal also believes that having superpowers like Metroman also meant praises and he could do anything he wants. This is another thing about Hal that made him an interesting villain. There is more I could say but I will leave it at that.

This is movie is actually a brilliant social commentary. It shows how the circumstances of your upbringing might affect your life. Megamind never actually aims to hurt anyone throughout the movie, which would suggest he is a good guy deep down. (I know I know.. the big laser "killing" Metroman in the beginning.. but lets be honest. He never really expected it to work.) But because of his upbringing, he felt like he had no choice but to be a bad guy. Metroman on the other hand was gifted like Megamind, but was given every opportunity to make the best of himself. Naturally he does well for himself.. but after years of having so much responsibility on his shoulders, I totally get why he would want to do something new with his life. And then we have "Tighten".. oh boy. A guy who is not gifted, socially awkward (was likely bullied when he was young) and living in the shadow of and idol like Metroman. Giving him such power would obviously go to his head... but we should still sympathize with him. When Roxanne rejects him, he was probably overwhelmed by loads of bad childhood memories and doesn't understand why it happened. He still feels inferior to Metroman and every other normal person because he still can't get what he wants. So he acts out. He gives up. Like Megamind he feels like he can only be a bad guy because it makes him feel better. The bullied victim becomes the bully, which I'm sure is very common. But unlike Megamind, he has NO problem hurting people. That's the thing that truly makes him a bad guy.

19:26 It's not tho. He's been alone and mistreated his whole life, aside from Minion. What exactly is he squandering? A good life? He didn't have one. Super powers? He doesn't have any. A family? He was raised in prison. That moment wasn't supposed to be a "ha see cuz thats what MEGAMIND was doing" moment. It was Megamind, someone who had no power or family or opportunities, looking at someone who could have the entire world if he wanted, but chooses to be a thief and a stalker instead. If people actually gave Megamind a chance as a child, he never would have been a criminal. He never would have chosen that life. But Hal, a guy was just became the new Metroman (and could have everything megamind was never given) just to be a criminal and a creep ON PURPOSE.

19:28 - well… sort of, but actually, no, not really. Megamind does it because as The Bad Guy, it is what he feels he’s _supposed_ to do; and also for the challenge of a Good Guy coming to stop him. Without that, having the things themselves was pointless. So no, Megamind never really took stuff or committed crimes in order to benefit himself. Hal, by contrast, stole, _because he could._ The point Megamind is making is this: he has handed Hal an opportunity he himself never had; one which he himself would have given just about anything for: the chance to be The Hero. To do Good. - And Hal could not care less about it.

The problem with this movie is that it appeals to an older audience yet its an animated movie. By that i mean that young children would probably prefer despicable me since it has less adult problems and it has funnier minions. Alot of what makes this movie great is the personal growth and the relationships between characters and children usually don't care about that. On top of that its an animated movie and the majority of adults will see that as meaning its for children and will overlook it so that limits its audience to teens and young adults that enjoy animated movies and like superhero movies. I can honestly say that i remember when despicable me came out mostly because of the stuffed crust, but it was a few years after that that i watched megamind and decided that it was one of my absolute favourite movies. Megamind is such a great character and there's really not enough animated movies with a good romance in the plot either.
