Hey I wanted to say for your couch you could always buy a light colored cover set that fits over it! Or you could always just decorate it with brighter color pillows and throw blankets too. But anyways I love your new house and I really like the huge backyard and deck area! I also live in a ranch style home and they are my favorite. Mainly cause of the single story and huge backyard they have.

For the dark sofa…. Get cushion covers! At first you can feel like they are a bit “expensive” because the ones I got was like $3-$5 per cushion. (And my sofa is giant) BUT it was a million times worth it!!! Changes the entire vibe and I smile looking at the sofa now every day even though I did the covers many months ago! ❤just an idea❤️

Obviously this is too late, but for the next time you move try to be there for the final walkthrough inspection! If you aren't there they will try to get every little thing they can and its harder to argue. If you can I would take this to your local rental board, they might be able to help. Idk how it works in the states but in Canada repainting between tenants is what you're suppose to do as a landlord, and its general wear and tear not your responsibility.

Your landlord should 100% be responsible for pest control. I know it's probably a hassle to go through landlords for everything, but listening to how much money they leech from you is infuriating! Especially with the cleanliness issues and broken heating/AC

I live in a very woodsy area so when I first moved in I was having a lot of trouble with spiders and roaches, which was not working because I have a severe phobia, and I couldn’t afford pest control, and the thing that worked for me was using original pinesol to mop and wipe counters or any surfaces with it because it’s a bug deterant, and I mop like 3-4 times a week and I use pinesol and a few drops of peppermint essential oil which kills bugs and when I tell you I would mop and then find dead ones on the floor after! I don’t really have an issue with them anymore I still use the solution when I mop and it helps so much. You don’t even have to use the pinesol either tbh I used fabuloso with the peppermint oil too and works just as good. You can also add peppermint oil and water to a bottle and spray it in corners or shelves around your house.

A few ideas for pest control. Like you, I live in the sticks, not all that far from you actually. I do get the outside sprayed but have also planted things that deter bugs. Lavender is a really good one. Marigold for snakes, bonus forage for the piggies. Mint, eucalyptus or citronella plants for spiders. You can also make a peppermint spray (Essential peppermint oil and water. 10 drops to 16 oz. water) and when you find webs, clear them and spray peppermint in that area. Having cats you will need to be careful with plants. But you could use plant sconces near your windows or wherever on your walls. Just a few ideas for ya! Congrats on your move!! I hate those crane flies too!!

Moving day always has something that goes wrong. I remember back in June when I moved into my place, I had my friend get into a heated argument with my next door neighbour. And that day all I wanted was to move the guinea pigs into the new house LOL yah it was a drama fest. So glad your into your new place now. You can take your landlord to small claims court. Show proof that you cleaned the house, honestly the way it was left is proof enough. Normal wear and tear should be expected for anyone who rents. I would look into it if you get the chance. Landlords fucking suck 😡 On a better note, you got through the worst part of moving, so now you can unpack and try to relax and enjoy your new home 🎉😊

That’s what’s bad about living around alot of woods. You get tons of bugs. Like my house I get ants all the time. But after awhile you get used to it. And btw seeing ur bearded dragon enclosure makes me sad. I just lost my baby on the 4th. It’s so hard. I want another one but can’t right now. Love them and take good care of them. I read today somewhere that some states won't allow them to keep deposits for normal wear and tear so carpet that whole toilet thing. Look up the deposit laws in you're area. That's ridiculous AF.

You can actually fight a lot of these charges! My old rental house wanted $5,000 for wear and tear and things that were never a problem to begin with. Hell they even said things were missing from the house like a towel rack in my bathroom. There never was a towel rack in my bathroom and not even room for one in it. Tried charging $100 to remove 2 boxes of soda I left in the fridge by mistake. When I moved into that house, the exact fridge had a whole a piece of rotting meat in it and it smelled violently like decomposing matter. Same sort of things happened with my parents, FIGHT THAT STUFF!!

(I know this is gonna be an odd comment BUT) crane flies?! I never knew their proper name 😂 I have always called them “gollywhoppers” If you want a natural way to keep mosquitoes, crane flies, and even spiders away from you home you should but peppermint plants around your doorways (outside) if you can! It’s a lifesaver (I’m horrified of spiders 🤢) Edit: I live across the street from a literal RIVER and protect woodland 🫠 (it’s cool but omg the bugs) I spray HomeDefense one room at a time so it can fully dry for my cats but I DOWSE that shit and it seems to really work. Make sure you get your window seals too! Every corner, every crevice! I hope you are bug free soon 😭

I only had 12 days to move and I started then. I recommend just undoing the beds and leaving the mattress on the floors until the move so you don’t have to worry about undoing the bed the day of the move!

I live part time in Italy and the mosquitos can literally drive me crazy. I can highly recommend putting up mosquito net on windows, around veranda doors.. At least here it's very cheap and a life-saver for sure!!🥹🙏
