I will watch this a little later, a little late tonight after work. I love watching Jeff taking care of his beautiful plants. I love taking care of my plant babies too, connecting to nature. It is fun to watch him, the plants, the animals and everything about his beautiful back yard. Enjoy it very much...

My favorite time of year! The only thing I enjoy as much as you bringing in the plants is when you take them back out! I really love your grow space. Something about seeing all those plants together with all the colors, shapes, sizes and textures. It's a beautiful thing, and I love it.

The plants do like being outside in the cooler weather; but due to other commitments this year, I had to put all mine in my greenhouse when it was most convenient for me - early to mid-October. In spite of the early move, they all look great; and we've already had to turn on the heat several times here in Budaful Buda, Texas. It's a great feeling when they all get tucked in safely for the cold winter days and nights! Happy Thanksgiving, Jeff! 🍁🦃🍂

It sure is a great feeling! A big weight off of the mind with all of the forecast watching and planning that goes into moving them inside.

Florida here and I can't believe we did the plant shuffle the same week!! Dropping down to 49 tonight so some orchids,anthirium,heliconias,and a brazilian red cloak are in the garage 😊

We had such a crazy warm fall. Loved it! After all that work, it ended up not even getting that cold out. Go figure! 😆 looks like next week we'll have lows in the teens, so better a week early than trying to pull it all off during a holiday week. Hopefully your cold snap is brief!

Oh gosh Jeff I do remember last year when you had that area filled with alot of plants during the winter, you can also pull all of the dead leaves and stems off of the plants and then sweep the entire floor to make it look cleaner and good. You do have some good looking plants in there and you are so lucky that you have that big area to place your plants that were outside to keep them safe during the winter so they don't die. I do like your pond and you are good at doing all of this plant stuff. Have a great weekend sending love and hugs, bye! 🥰🤗💕💜💜💜💜

This is so nice to see how you are over wintering. We are finally in our new house and I'm using the finished basement to use for that. Slowly but surely it is coming together. I just love to hear your reasoning for everything. And I find the water to be relaxing.

I'm glad you find it relaxing! I do too. It's a nice escape. Sounds like a fun project turning the basement into a grow space!

Hi Jeff. I see your busy as usual. My basement almost looks like your grow space, not quite as many plants and no pond! I really like your variegated monsteras , I have some now, not nearly as large as yours. My whole house is full of plants! Thanks for all your information, it's always very informative. Hope your well and thanks again! Will be watching. Take care.

Nothing wrong with a house and basement full of plants! Makes winter much more tolerable. 😆

I was able to spend three weeks with my daughter’s rag doll, he is so sweet, maybe a little uppity maybe regal is the word to use but I think that’s because EVERYONE is always messing with him. Mostly the kids. We became pretty good friends because I didn’t mess with him much just pet him occasionally and he seemed to appreciate that. I did tell him it’s his fault that everyone wants to mess with him though because he is a BEAUTIFUL cat and SO fluffy. Basically irresponsible. I THINK she wants to get another one , rag doll, when her cat named squirrel passes away, he’s fifteen years old and is winding down so he probably has only another year or two left. She was thinking about a Maine Coon but I think she is going to stick with a rag doll because they don’t nearly get as big. Anyway give Pumpkin, Poppy, Turbo and Toby a hug from me or not but if I were there they would all be definitely getting a cuddle from me. 🦃🍁💚🙃

The madness behind the curtain in Tropical OZ. I think once Dec. passes you'll be able to breath and get to sit down and work on some cut backs. Big bad Momma II spider plant is exploding with her kids like the old woman living in a shoe lol. Maybe you could build a barrier wall of your recycle cardboard to save your limbs from the red Bro's I too could not let those beasts go. Good luck man!~ 🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷👟👵

Phew....That was alot of work. So satisfying when youre finished. Here in Michigan I had to bring my tropicals in at end of october. Of course my crotons never behave...drama queens all winter long.I have a question regarding the croton. Is it safe to say they do better with one in a pot. I bought a plant about 3 years ago. That pot had 3 in it. Now theres 2. Are they better alone? Reminds me of the money tree that had 5 stems braided; 5 years later...i have one trunk. Grow space looks great.
@TropicalPlantPartyКүн бұрын
Crotons can be such divas when they're moved around! Some years my Petra almost totally defoliates, some years it doesn't skip a beat. They're usually fine having multiple in a single pot.

Hi Jeff, you are super dedicated to your tropicals. That's so much work. I'm glad I don't have to do that because I wouldn't 😂. Do you spend a lot of money on electricity during the winter because of your grow space? Do you ever wonder if your electric company thinks you're growing illegal, in some places, plants? I wonder what it would take to get flagged my an electric company for too much electric usage. I have always wondered about that.
@TropicalPlantPartyКүн бұрын
😆 I used to wonder if the grow room would be suspicious to the authorities back in the day when I was using high output, electricity sucking grow lamps and it wasn't legal here. The electric isnt awful considering, but it does very year to year depending on how cold it is outside. Last year the heater didn't have to work overtime except for a couple of weeks in January.

@@TropicalPlantParty oh that's good to know that the cost of lighting has come down as bulbs get more efficient. It looks like you prepare well every year. I'm lucky enough that I can just leave my tropicals in ground. I'm zone 9b Northern California. I just prune any ugly leaves and leave them to their devices. If they make it great, if they don't oh well. 🤣 I started a tropical garden bed on the north side of my house and will continue it along the east side of my house because these areas offer protection during our hot summer temperatures. They do exceptionally well. The point being that I watch you to get ideas and think of the possibilities that I can achieve in my garden. Thank you for being you.
@lorellstoneman742 күн бұрын
Just wondering....Is there enough space to hang a light under the tables to create another space for short plants? Can the IKEA white hanging tier planter maybe hang over the pond to give you more space? Would a piece of plexiglass at a slant catch the waterfall to quiet it? Just thoughts..
@TropicalPlantPartyКүн бұрын
It's a good question - I'm still experimenting with the layout and seeing what works best. I can't hang stuff over the pond anymore bc the heater blows directly onto the pond, it was the only place it could be mounted. That's why I stopped with the Vanda orchids and all the plants that needed to be hung over it. 😔

I am in zone 8a and this is my first year trying a tropical backyard. The nights are between 33 and 48 degrees. Do I need to bring everything inside? Thanks for any suggestions.🥰🥰🥰
@TropicalPlantPartyКүн бұрын
Hello! What needs to go inside depends entirely on each specific type of plant. A lot of tropicals can take brief dips into the 30s, but that's a very broad thing to go by.
@judymckerrow6720Күн бұрын
Did you JUST put up the heater ? 🦃🍁💚🙃

Hi Jeff, I enjoy your videos very much! Are you able to place any plants e.g. hibiscus, agave, aeoniums (just to name a few) inside your house? Lol, just as I was commenting, you mention ed you place one of your dracaenas inside.
