I think a shipping container would be a great solution for storage. You can always transition the use of it once your house is built or resell it. Also, I wonder if some shelves above the row of dressers would be helpful over the short term. In general, you are doing great, Sarah. Give yourself grace and I’m sure many of us will be praying for you. Thanks for keeping it real. Loved this video

A logistics suggestion is to move your tall freezers away from blocking the window in the garage and put the small chest freezers under the window so that you can open the windows in there when you want to get that cross breeze you spoke about. Put the 2 tall freezers right next to each other then you can utilize the space above both together for more storage. ALSO, for every day shoe storage use low flat storage containers that will fit under each person's bed, or if the child sleeps on the top of a bunk put their everyday shoes in a hanging cloth shoe caddy hanging from the bed or hanging from a door near by their bed. ON THE TOPIC of storage, a few commenters are suggesting shipping containers on your land for extra storage. My suggestion is get TWO. Put them parallel about 10 or more feet apart and build a roof to connect them to form a patio/carport between them that you can park extra vehicles under.

First of all, I want to tell you how much I admire you as a mother. You are the mother that I always wished I could have been but I had made some choices in my life that made that difficult. Now my children are grown I could not be more proud I have grandchildren I could not be more proud of but I am terminal with no chance of survival. Watching your videos makes me smile and it helps me put things into perspective a little bit. When you were talking about how you and your husband had a restless night of sleep and you had to make a choice changing the course of a little bit of either the move or the course that you're building., the first thing that came to my mind the course although it so important to you, could be put off a little longer. You don't want to overwork yourself you're dedicated to your family and you always have been obviously so I would put family first. Just finished the move and in-between time if you have any time, if in capital letters, then work on that too. Just my opinion I've grown to love your family and your children and like I said I admire you all so my opinion may be completely way off course but I thought I'd put it in there and let you know that every single one of you are doing wonderful and are the American example of a beautiful functioning family! You just don't see that today and it's sad to say but it's the truth. There is so much dysfunction going on in the world and within family that it is frightening so you guys take time to be proud of what you're doing because I am. Much love and if you would not mind please pray for me, pray for a miracle because that's what it would take this point for me to live. I'm alone I have no family they have passed and doing this alone is something I can't remember again to explain. Is the worst part of it being lack of medical insurance and with me not being able to work, no money to buy that medication. That in itself makes me so angry I can't even tell you! It's not right there's so many areas in our country that need reform and I pray for that everyday so others don't have to go through this. But congratulations on your new home and as always you're doing wonderful!❤❤❤

You’ll do great! Our family of eight and large dog all lived in an 800 square foot house for a couple years. We ended up turning the living room into a walk in closet and using camp chairs for furniture. Those chairs came in handy later. After we moved out of that house (it was a rental house that the owners sold in the height of 2020), we moved into a 27’ camper for six months. We kept our clothes in totes in the back of one of our vehicles. Our suburban was literally our closet. It will be rough downsizing for a while, but your next house will feel like a mansion once you get into it! One tip for you that served us well. Eat outside as much as possible! It will help save your sanity and will help with the cleanup in the little house. It’s so much harder to keep a small, crowded house clean.

I have needed to buy space bags to keep seasonal clothing and items in large totes. I mark each tote with items and stack them. I use them alternating fall, winter, spring, summer. Saves space and is safe for weather issues and ease of locating until space becomes more available. I vacuum seal as much as possible shrinking size of items. As soon as you open bags they fluff back up. Critters, bugs, mice, rain floods, little children are not able to open or chew through. They snap tightly closed and keep odors and dust off also. I've used the same totes 15 years. We have moved state to state and temp living spaces. They have saved money and stress for finding items.

Don't expect everything to be perfect while you are getting through this transition. You will find homes for everything that works for everyone as you get settled in. Use the garage space and then go through the house from top to bottom once everything is there and thin it out.... you had a fully functioning house both places, don't be afraid to declutter the excess.... you've done this before, you've got this!

Since our house is small we put shelves above the doors that enter the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. The shelves go the length of the wall. You can't see them from outside of the room but it gives so much extra storage in the rooms. You can put baskets or plastic tubs to corral the items you need to put up there. Do you possibly have an attic to store extra stuff in?

We moved last year. Down sized quite alot. It takes time but you will get it all worked out. The transitioning between two houses imo is the hardest. Maybe consider getting one of those shipping containers. The kind you see on ships and the back of trucks. It would give you a tremendous amount of on site storage. They’re rodent proof, definitely a plus and when you done with it it’s great for farm storage animal food/hay storage. Ticks and bugs: look at a product called wondercide. I have used their home bug spray for years and it works wonderfully. When we moved last year this house had a lot of ticks and honestly was just a buggier house then I was use to. So we bought the yard spray to help with ticks outside. Also bought the dog sprays and it helps alot for our dogs. My husband and I even use it on ourselves. The ingredients are ones I have no issues with. Just my opinion. I just want to add. I think you guys have made a very wise decision by moving. Not trying To get political but our world is changing and being “out” a bit (again my opinion) is a good thing. I’m back. Lol. I’m watching and keep wanting to say things. Yes to cats! Yes to kittens. Had a farm for 20 years. Never lost a bird to a cat but had far fewer rats/mice because of them.

We had Chicks/Hens for 5 years before we got 2 kittens & they were fine with each other. The hens would make a tremendous squawking noise if the cats came too close but they just wanted to sniff them, & the noise would frighten anything away. Yes, get kittens & let them grow up together.

Sarah, or any family member reading this - Starlink could solve your upload problem. I don't know where your land is but I know you're near Lincoln and Starlink appears to be widely available there. My cousin lives in a rural location and says starlink has been an absolute game-changer for them with internet. Also, since it is getting warm in Florida, you could get your parents to stay in your big house (since cleaning up after just two isn't a big deal while the house is being shown) and they could help during this super busy time. Regardless, I am impressed with how much you have gotten done! I can only imagine how overwhelming it is but hang in there! God willing the house sells quickly so you can start building your bigger house sooner.

When the kids go outside, have them put their pant legs inside of their socks. Preferably white socks so you can see the ticks. Ticks will wait on the top of taller grasses and wait for someone/something to walk past. They are worst in the spring! Best of luck!! Take care!!

We like to wear gear from Insect Shield - t shirts and socks, pants etc. Great for tick prevention. But the key is always checking daily. Even with our diligence, my husband has had Lyme's twice and one of my son's has had it once. If you find a tick that has attached, use tweezers to pull it straight up, put in a plastic bag in freezer to kill it then send it to be tested (free testing in some states).

Girl you need to invest in some bins with lids for that stuff that is just going to be sitting. You are building happy little nests for things to live. Also the garage makes excellent play space, plop down an area rug :)

Also, yes to hooks on the wall! Hanging Hooks on every door too! Also shelving up high in spots like the laundry rooom, for cubes to store items off the floor will make things feel a lot more spacious.

Sarah, things will fall into place as time goes by. Just keep your eyes on the end results. You have finally moved out of your old house and steps closer to building your new home on your dream property by God's grace. Tori did an excellent job with her sisters's hair and hers also. God bless you all.❤🙏

Wow! That’s a lot of progress in a single week!! I remember stuffing 5 adult women, 4 adult men and a spiked rotten medium sized dog into a 3 bedroom one bath flat slab home with multiple visitors daily and at the time I was the 4th oldest in the situation. Mercy, but we survived by the Grace of God. And we really weren’t as well organized as you are. 😂 I share that to say, you are absolutely amazing and you have a good head on your shoulders and you and Solo have been raising amazing children. With that going for you I am certain you’ll have this all wrangled in no time. I’m sure I’m not the only one that is praying for you in this busy season. Show yourself some grace, and remember when it feels out of control, GOD’S got you. We can do ALL things in Christ. Praying that He gives you strength and wisdom in each task, that He gives you restoration of strength each day and shows you exactly how to make all the things fit together for the good of your family and your peace of mind. God bless and keep you and your family ❤

It’s such a lovely place to live with amazing grounds. Did you solve the water problem yet? I love the girls hair! It’s so lovely with all those beautiful curls. Tori’s just looks so great that length and with the tiny curls. They all look really lovely. Moving is very stressful but you have a very sensible way of handling things. Enjoy your new home! Barn cats are hunters so will take down any sort of prey, including chickens I’m afraid. They don’t understand that it’s okay to chase a rat but not a hen. I’ve had many indoor cats but also outdoor farm cats and the outdoor ones are so much wilder after a while roaming around. Geese will chase off rats and not harm the chickens or ducks. They are very territorial but won’t chase the children if they grow up with them.

I know you’re probably getting tons of suggestions, but first thought was why not stack the clothing storage and anchor it to the wall to optimize your storage in the rest of the home. And for shoe storage have you looked into Ikea Trones or Brusali? They have lots of affordable options. Sleek, very thin, easy to anchor to a wall and would look great in your next house! I saw someone on Instagram make a whole wall of them in their garage and it looked very upscale!

Sarah, watching you problem solve is motivating me to spring clean. I am concerned about the added flushes, baths, showers, and washing of clothes and dishes to the septic and leach field on a two bedroom, two bathroom home. We've ran into this issue in a home we owned in the past. It required us to put in a larger septic and leach field. I love your family and know with God's help you will all look back at this time with fondness.

We use Downy original dryer sheets to keep tics away. We just put one in a pocket for the day of play. Seems to work as we have had no tics when we use them. I love your channel and look forward to seeing what is happening at your home. Your children are growing into wonderful young men and women. I feel so much better about the children in our world after visiting your home. Thank you for sharing!!

Glad you mentioned that about preventing ticks. Lyme disease is a horrible disease and ticks are small but the bite from an infected tick may pose a dangerous health hazard, making the victim of the bite very sick unless caught early. I know from experience.

Hello! Love your chandelles!❤ For your mattresses that you want to stak directly on the floor, be carefull to leave a space between the mattress and the floor to avoid mold. And for the lack of space, you could use containers like Justin Rhodes is doing while remodeling their house. Take care!😊

Maybe you need to name one of the older kids the “Shoe Wrangler.” Living in this smaller house will become part of your family legend and will be a good memory for the kids. When you get chickens, they will eat the ticks if you let them free range part of the day.

Guineas are even better for ticks, if you don’t mind that they are hard to domesticate, somewhat noisy (they alert to danger/people), and like to roam.

I have a pull out cart that fits in-between the washer and dryer. It's a wire type and only as high as the machine but still rear for storing things. I use mine for all my laundry type products and use the shelves over the machines for paper products since they are super lightweight.

Just a caution - it's best not to store or use mattresses straight onto the floor as the underside can over time mould. You need to have them lifted at least a little so there is airflow underneath if possible - I'm not even getting into the possibility of bugs etc. (yes even in clean houses)
