Don your a pretty handy guy. Those jacks alone are a sketchy tool. That worked out slick. Yes the snow ramp easier. Good looking soup. It definitely is soup and stew season. We make stuff and freeze in containers and put it on the woodstove while we are out doing stuff and its warm when we get back into cabin. Looking forward to coming along on your first trail setting run in your woodlot Don. Thanks for the video today. You're doing good.

Yup but it worked :) The ramp is in progress, stew always good your right. It warmed to -18 yesterday so I was out & the old bravo just about left me walking :( But got one trip through a lot of cattails this year, But -26c again this morning but an awesome solar day :)) Thanks Glen

Freezing tomatoes was always my favourite way to preserve them. Nowadays I don’t have a freeze here. So I canned them all. A lot more work. But at least they’re put up, it was a great tomato crop! It’s truly winter out there isn’t it. Yesterday morning it was -29 at our place. Stay warm. Stay safe!
@littlegriffoffgridalberta68373 күн бұрын
Yes I seen you had a good crop :) Canning is great too, Off grid my small solar setup runs a full size freezer & fridge with little power, Yes winter is here :) Our weather generally comes from the northwest so what you get today we get tomorrow or the day after :) We had -26 in the morning 3-4 days in a row but clouds rolled in only -20 this morning lol, Stay warm, Take care"

Those farm jacks are the greatest invention since sliced bread. I've used them for pulling posts, jacking up sheds, winching out my truck etc. You are correct though in saying that they can be dangerous. Use them with respect and stay clear of the handle. Looks like an awsome soup recipe. Sometimes simpler is better. I will make your soup but will add some pearl barley to my version.

That looked like a delicious pot of soup my buddy, I was telling my wife how you frooze your tomatoes she said she never thought to do that ....next year I'm sure she will lol. You got the wood piled for this cold spell. Hope you have a great week my buddy and stay warm.

Evening Don. You guys are into winter mode. We are getting rain from the eastern seaboard. Our winter doesn't kick off until January some time. The Jack works good for ya.

Ya winter is here, It's been -26c a few days now but we're toasty warm in the cabin :) man you can have all that moisture -20 there is like our -40 it's very dry snow the cold is very different than even Alberta's south Thanks for watching
@KenC495 күн бұрын
Hi Don! A couple tandem loads of fill at the end of your brow to make a ramp would save you a bunch of handling the logs. You just keep that snow and cold out west. We have way too much work to get done to finish out our season. Lol
@littlegriffoffgridalberta68375 күн бұрын
Ya good idea, I run that over my brain but I drive around there & it would make it pretty tight, & If I bring them in with my trailer I like to drive up close :) I have to come up with something simple that I can move in the spring, I have a bit of an idea coming soon :) Thanks for the comment"
@KenC495 күн бұрын
@littlegriffoffgridalberta6837 ramps would be easier solution. Roll the logs up the ramps but have them hinge somehow to allow you to put you trailer in.

Hey Don, if you care to, give a little expose' on your garage stove. My neighbour has me lined up to build one for him, so I'm looking for ideas?
@littlegriffoffgridalberta68375 күн бұрын
How big of wood does he want to use & how big of a place does he want to heat ? I planned out the measurements to use a pull 4+8 sheet of 1/8 , I think 1/4 would of been much better, & the door you can buy the kits for doing barrel would be a better door than I made, It won't be in the next video but maybe I'll try to show the stove & measurements & how I did it in the one after :) Thanks for the comment"
