I live in South Africa and it's a good place. Just be sure about the area you are moving to beforehand (just ask around) and listen when someone warns you that something is unsafe! Most importantly, move to Cape Town. It's the absolute best.

I loved your apartment! It's so hard here in the U.S, Los Angeles area to find decent apartments that aren't asking for a kidney along with your deposit. Also big is trendy (some here would say your kitchen was super tiny ) but I much prefer the layout you had myself! Not tiny house but not massive...just right.
