I did the same for my dad. Moved him from the north of England down south. It was the best thing we ever did. It was a privilege to be able to look after him. He’s gone now but have so many happy fun memories of him. it was testing at times but worth it. Miss him so much but love never dies x

Catherine so sorry that you have lost both your parents. And I know just what you mean. My mum died in 1993 only in her 60’s. It was a terrible shock to us all. My lovely dad lived until he was 89 and died in 2011. I am quite sure they are in paradise together. They were loving and very kind people. They passed on so much love in our family that I will always be grateful. Sending love to you from England x

@Catherine You will always miss your folks. Mine have been with the Lord since 1981 and 1986, and not a day goes by that I don't think about them, as well as my two deceased sisters. I love to talk to my own kids about them, trying to keep my birth family's legacy alive at least a little. But miss them all? You betcha.

God really loves to put things together, always working in our backgrounds, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to bless us and keep us. I've had a sad week this week, too many people I know dying, and yet two days ago the Lord sent me the gift of a small flock of eastern bluebirds through my yard, where they spent time feeding on a bush with some tiny berries on it. I had never seen a bluebird "in the wild" before (I live in northern New England), and now I had 20 to watch. I sat there and said, "Thank you, Jesus," right out loud. I felt it was a gift directly from God to lift my spirits. God loves us, and he loves to bless us. The Word tells us that "he is love". The story of how their VA house got into Bill and Elizabeth's hands doesn't surprise me in the least. Too cool, isn't it.

He was not in an institution of any kind. That was just a senior apartment building that he was in. You had to be 65 to get an apartment there. And it was cheap. But he IS very happy to be with us now, instead of being alone.

The world is much too busy and our children (of all ages) are caught up in the turmoil. Know that they love you and want your happiness. Try to be strong, independent and trust in yourself. Time can change our lives in a few minutes. Pop (and his deceased wife) have a long history of guiding this family, their former construction business and now - in a more frail state of body and mind, he reaps his due rewards. Someday, I hope you and I will too.

@@bonnieodoon2980 ...yes, you are right... You can see what a sweet man he is!! However, no matter that some of us have been great providers , etc. And done the very best for our kids... Because you are right , we as adults need to do all we can to take care if ourselves too! Be sure we have this GS in place? Care home insurance if possible, medical care lined up. Most of all do all we can to be in right relationship to the Lord!! And to love our families the best we can.... In the end,... The children can look back and say, "wow, my dad, or my mom did their very best by me!".... "they loved me". My siblings and I are so thankful. Our Mom died at a young age our Dad went on to live another 13 years.... Wonderful loving parents, not perfect, but still did the best they could for us!! Praise the Lord!!

Just on word of caution, if you will, please rethink the area rug in your dads room, you can look this up, many older people trip and fall because of them. He’s where he belongs now, with his family. The loneliness I’ve seen in so many elderly when they have no family around is heartbreaking. I know family’s would visit but all the rest of the time they are alone, sitting by themselves staring out a window, sleeping. They spend time with strangers but what they long for is their loved ones, their family.
