Quite an adventure moving the Case combine. My BIL moved a burned Ford 642 combine once...they rigged up a hydraulic line on the steering cylinder so he could steer it with the pull tractor. Regarding parts prices, my late wife used to roll her eyes and say "is it made of gold?" LOL Hope the Lord is with all of you for the remainder of the harvest season.

Yes You are right when machines get old and real old sometimes it in not worth the money to fix. Because fix one thing then and other and extra as well as you can't get parts or too expensive. Then it is time to sell it for scrap or what ever. enjoyed your video as always Alan, best of luck with the corn storage in the bins.

Good to see a little case 660 content. Too bad it’s locked up now. I’ve been using my 2 660s to do beans an corn the last couple weeks. They definitely don’t have a huge capacity but they work well. Only major problem now is lack of parts availability.

Use the tractor 3point to lift back of combine off ground then you can drag it anywhere and not have to steer

When you were talking about the engine being stuck in the combine I did remember about that other 830. I didn't realize it was 2 years already. I did also think about an 830 blowing corn silage and that cat was sitting on the seat. It appears you are starting to winterize yourself Alan. That will make the deer walk right up to maybe.

I was alway sinterested in those 60's case combines. Couldn't figure how small combines llike that were big enough even for small farms though I guess when the 600 came out in 1961 they were a good size for the small farms that still existed then. Case was about to come oujt with a new series in the 70's that were somewhat like the 105 John Deere, but the company with new owners pulled the plug on new combine series. We have 3 old machines next to our trees we call combine row. Ih 403, Deere early 95h and 1956 Case 302 like a leveland 120 I think. Has 3 wheels with one on the rear with hydraulic drive to help it up the hills as it was a hillside machine which are necessary in the pacific Northwest wheat fields. We had a junk guy cut up some of our IH conventionals as they're worth nothing and the Chinese at the time were paying for iron. We bought a bunch as they were outdated but we used them for a few years. Hope you get it a new home. It's nice to clean up a yard though I like old collector machines. Reminds me of my youth.

I think want hurt j.i case combines they didn't update their machines during the 50's and 60's case did built a case 1660 and 1665 very few where built to compete with deere 105.. I think 1972 they stop building combines.

I always feel like parts and supply places pick the farmers pocket on pricing. I could be wrong! but it seems like people think they can do it because farmers need equipment back working in a hurry.

Handy Andy used to be the best! I haven't worn them in years, mainly because they didn't seem to have the same quality for the price. Went to cheap 12 packs and would just throw them out when they got thin, but I would wash the Handy Andy's a few times before they would get thin. Thumb and index finger wore out first. 👍👍

Just a comment on the model that Case did not build. I saw a pic of prototype supposed to come after the 1665 Looked more like a 60's deere but was supposed to be more capacity. Can't remember where I saw it. I think it was something on Ebay machinery literature some years ago taked in Case's factory. Never came to the light of the public.
@trinitydairy2 күн бұрын
Cool! I've also heard that some of the old JD combines were made by Case.
@glenmiller333316 сағат бұрын
@@trinitydairy well you’re partially correct. JD bought some of the case designs and patents. Rumor has it some of the very early 00 series models had a case eagle on a couple of the cast iron parts. Who knows because JD will never tell!!!!

The main reason for me is parts. We've been able to get equipment that breaks down, fixed and back to work the same day, because we have parts on hand. And sometimes parts that aren't available anymore.
@seth17044 күн бұрын
@@butchmcgregorb1203 I have fixed my old junk that I'm using with another piece of old junk that is unusable because I can't find parts, or my machine that I'm fixing isn't worth the price of a new part, plus the part that I'm salvaging is basically free because it is only worth scrap iron price
