Ok people. I don’t know why my son called it a pilot truck other than he does not do this for a living. That load is not considered oversized to the point where I need any escorts or pilot vehicles. Normally I move that machine by myself. The pick up truck is just here to load and unload the machine that’s it. I’m not in charge of him and where he drives or I would’ve had him go to Dunkin and get me a coffee.

I agree 100% on the safety issues vs cars, I'm a long time Heavy Haul/Oversize driver and I do the same thing all the time. I'm as safe as the day is long, but some people do really try my patience, that turn signal that I'm using isn't a suggestion, it's on because one way or another, I'm coming over. I'm not into bullying traffic, but you're either going to extend me a bit of courtesy and let me in, or I'll educate you on how to do that. I've had the finger, the horn, everything else, but at the end of the day I've never been involved in an accident or been cited by Police, so there's that. At any rate, great video and keep it safe, driver.

@@thomaskirk9341 you know it’s funny I took a lot of heat for taking both lanes over the bridge but the day after I film that video that was a nasty accident involving a truck that didn’t take both lanes in a car tried to pass him . Then a couple days ago we had a kid try to pass on that bridge and spun out the car. He clipped the nose on, spawn that car around and shot it into the oncoming traffic in a 79-year-old woman got killed. That’s why the cops do not bother us when we take both lanes. Lowboy is not easy, especially when you drive for six week straight. And your hook up/dismount is mechanical. I used to drive a semi-truck lowboy, step deck, Conestoga trailer. I ended up to going back working as a travel nurse. One day I want to buy a pre-emissions tractor and a trailer that I can haul a vehicle, a motorbike, and live in. Driving a semi truck has definitely made me a better driver. Being a nurse, I was always aware of danger and hazards. If I was not comfortable moving a load the way it was secured, I didn't move no matter how angry and impatient my boss was. At the end of the day, you are the driver and it's your responsibility to be responsible for the safety of motorists around you and your own safety so that you would make it home.

It's not really the 4 wheeler's fault. It's the powers that be who could make drivers get better training to get their class C license. But NOOOO... they don't want to do THAT... cause many people may not pass and then you have less people going out to BUY THINGS!! But this goes deep.

Fine Massachusetts engineering, nasty square edge granite curbing. They just ruined the 5 intersections in our small town on the NY border made them tight and impossible for truck.

I'm not sure I agree with taking two lanes when traveling straight on a highway; bridge or no bridge. When turning at an intersection, OK, drivers may not understand how you're turning, so taking up two lanes can make sense. Traveling straight on a highway though? How bad are the drivers there? Are they not able to stay in their lane when driving straight ahead?
@DirtBrute5 ай бұрын
That bridge is 90 years old and is scheduled to be replaced because it is obsolete. The lanes are too small for 2 vehicles to safely operate next to each other and there are a lot of serious fatal accidents on there . You don’t have to agree with it but it’s a much safer practice . Plus when your loaded wide you don’t even fit in one lane . They are very small and the sidewalk it tall . Plus most of the drivers in cars are tourist not from around here. Thanks for watching!
@Nates7075 ай бұрын
So you don't have to have a pilot in the front on single lane roads? Cool video
@DirtBrute5 ай бұрын
@@Nates707 I technically because of the width and the length don’t need the guy in the pickup. Normally I don’t have him like at the end with the excavator. He was only there to help load and unload because I haven’t run that grinder in a couple years so I could remember how to start it and turn on the remote. Plus I asked him to watch the tree branches on the way out .thanks for watching!
