I have been watching you drive and load and unload for trips from the states into Canada. You are an admirable driver and always in great control on any road you are on. I am now 82 years old and I highly respect a driver who can handle his load and equipment. I miss driving and I was an owner/operator so I owned my trucks. My last 2 were Volvo's and I had the I-shift transmission. My max weight was 80K on 5 axles. Keep up the good work and Professionalism. You will always have a job.

Nice job. No drama. When i was a kid, we'd go from Boston to Toronto, to see the old folks. Once we hit the Peace Bridge, Felt like it was downhill after that. We were in Canada. Buncha kids in a station wagon, Dad at the wheel. Thanks for waking old memories.

Another 1st timer here.... Amazing how much better the equipment is now for the driver!!! The power available is astounding!!! My first truck was an old cab-over Ford, gas powered V-8, (don't remember the CID, but it wasn't much ;-). It had a 5 speed & split axle. They threw me the keys, (I was 17 at the time) and said take this trailer 30 miles up the road and drop it in the lot... I'll NEVER forget trying to find/grind gears while attempting to figure out how the axle worked too, 15 mph up ANY grade was normal for that worn out piece of junk and hydraulic brakes would only slow it down, not stop it... I DON'T miss those days at all 🙂 Travel safe sir and enjoy the wonderful equipment you have, it's truly AWESOME!!!

I still cant believe how the states take you through these obscure routes that don’t make any sense just to drive around in circles to get to your destination. You were on the Rt33 down Oak st and you could have hopped on I-190 North to the Peace Bridge. Instead of goin around all those side streets. I’ve takin the ramps to the I-190 with oversized loads. But I work for a local municipality that I can get away with some of that with out special permits. Thanks for the video and keep’m comin. Keep on truckin!

@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 ....one of the main reasons for the inner-city detours is that the Interstate infrastructure is crumbling all across the US (and, similar ly to the Provincial autoroutes, truth be told). I've had the pleasure to deliver a fair number of self-propelled over-dimensional mobile cranes with boom-dollies from the Linkbelt plant in KY to SK, AB & BC out west and to Southwestern area/ON (all without escorts!)....so I know a bit about these downtown detours, as well as prescribed "off-ramp/on-ramp" where Interstate bridges are in particularly bad shape, and/or center-lining every overpass, bridge or other free-standing structures in Iowa and some if not all of similar structures in Minnesota on I-94 (again, all without escorts....and, guess what, my worst enemies while doing the center-lining where semi-van drivers, i.e. those who are far too comfortable inside their cabs....which was often noticeable even in your own video). That being said, my compliments, @luckybananaheavyhaul3407, nonetheless, I enjoyed riding hotshot with you on this trip. While I'm fully aware that you're editing these video for length, I think it would still be a good thing to show viewers the cargo-securement requirements not just in general (which you did at the Port in Baltimore), but also the mandatory verifications during the trip, i.e. at the pre-scribed intervals (1st after the first 50 miles/80 kms of departure; 2nd and subsequently every 3 hours or 150 miles/240 kms (whichever occurs first); at each change of duty-status (i.e every time you pull the yellow button on the dash , read: apply the parking brakes) in addition to many jurisdictional verifications as specified on your O/O-permits (or the accompanying Rules on a separate document)....no over-dimensional driver wants to risk having his permits voided because they forgot to dot every i...and crossed every t , due to being in a rush. Thanks for reading my observations.

Amazing video man I just subscribe to your channel. I love the Allison transmission in your truck. Will you please see if you can do a really long ASMR video of you driving it and include it with the engine starting up because this thing sounds great. I hope all is well with you and your family man. Stay safe and have a blessed one.

1st time here. I wanted to see how the big over size leads work! I'm like the other guy. Why does State DOT route you through town instead of going around? I understand about width, weight and length, but asphalt, heck, all of the materials to make those roads was brought in by a truck! Wait a minute. I saw Peterbilt seats, but that's a Western Star? It was easier to to get into Canada than I thought! How is it getting back into the US? I'll have to look at your camera setups. I've been wanting to add some cameras to my rig, to show off some of my driving skills and backing up skills. Been driving flatbed for 9 years now. Before that was van for 8 years and before that Asphalt Dump trucks and Semi's with short trailers, but also got to move 53' RGN's and an old folding neck heavy haul trailer and moved a portable asphalt plant from different jobsites. Those were long trailers. Probably almost as long as you're setup. But no jeeps or stinger axles. All triple or quad axles. Turning into a 40' driveway was a bitch sometimes! Wheel loaders, backhoes, rollers, and asphalt paving machines were the only machines that I got to haul. Now everything I haul is within my trailer limits, expect for length. Since it's only a 48' flatbed, I can haul upto 5 feet overhang on the back of the trailer and I don't have to flag or light it up. Don't let my channel name fool you. I don't haul sea cans for a living. I came up with that name due to my hobby. I'm a model train hobbyist and one time I bought over 300 containers for my model train layout. So I decided to call myself CONTAINERMAN68. I post videos of my travels and I also railfan. I enjoyed the ride along!

Welcome! This is a Peterbilt truck. I used to drive a Western Star which can be seen in some of my older videos. As long as your paperwork is in proper order the border crossings usually go very well both ways. Permits routes don’t always make sense. Usually the route givin is to avoid low bridges, construction zones and bridges with weight limits. In this case of Buffalo we avoid the toll road because you need a separate permit for that.

By the way I enjoy model trains also! I don’t have time or space at home for a setup but maybe one day. I used to have a subscription to Model Railroader Magazine. I find all the detail of the professional sets really fascinating!

D, thanks for the new upload. It was great seeing you load and secure the CAT. I always wondered if you were responsible for the loading/unloading of what you transport. Although Caterpillar has manufacturing plants here in the US, since this CAT 352 has hydraulics and is a track-type tractor, it came from China via Baltimore harbor. Brilliant @1:12:17. Most of this trip was easy for you and you could've done it with your eyes closed. 🥱 (were they closed and you had the rig on autopilot?). I looked for places downtown Buffalo where you might've been able to get some drive-up Buffalo Chicken Wings 🐓, but I did't see such a place. The streets downtown Buffalo are wider than downtown Boston. I like The Peace Bridge, although it needs repaving. The Peace Bridge was named to commemorate 100 years of peace between the United States and Canada. It was constructed as a highway bridge to address pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic which could not be accommodated on the International Railway Bridge, built in 1873. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. G.

I've yet to see an automatic tow this kind of weight so this is really cool and new... Realistically and nostalgia aside, do you *need* a manual truck and would you go back to one given the chance? I'd like to know how far along automatics have come. I am finding it harder and harder to believe that autos won't take over this line of work sooner rather than later. No, I don't care about steering wheel holders. I'm comparing YOU (auto) vs YOU (manual)
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407

I am really happy that I got the chance to drive this truck and make my own opinion about the automatic vs manual debate. So many drivers are “band wagon” auto haters without even driving one. This truck is doing a very good job. The automatic is handling the heavy weight really well and it is easy to drive. I can see why some drivers enjoy these transmissions. Personally I still prefer a manual transmission. I find a driver can connect better with the truck through a clutch. You can feel the friction point and feel your weight. There is no feeling with an automatic.
