Hi Leah, I came to Manchester about three years ago. Since I came from another country, I’ve had many days where I felt very lonely and went through depressive times here. I couldn’t even focus on watching anything just to pass the time. Then I saw you on KZbin. You really became a friend to me. When you tried to help after the earthquake in Turkey, it made me love you even more. A few days ago, I saw you walking down the street and I was so happy, but I didn’t want to disturb you, so I didn’t approach. It’s so nice to see you here. I hope all the happiness in the world finds you.

Welcome to my city Leah! I'm not a student any longer, I suspect I'm a bit older than your target audience, but I'm Manchester born and raised. That said, I lived in rural Scotland for 8 years so I know what it's like as a more naturally quiet person to uproot to somewhere that feels a bit alien (I ended up loving it and remember it quite fondly now). Some places you may like that are in reasonably easy reach - the Deansgate Waterstones is huge and a place I've always found comforting, has a cafe in it too; Didsbury Botanic Garden is a tiny little oasis that's reasonably easy to get to from the student area; Castlefield Viaduct Sky Garden is only a few years old but is another odd little oasis of plants and green. Central Library is still lovely but it's been heavily modernised and doesn't really resemble the rabbit warren of books it used to be. But the Art Gallery, Poetry Library, and Manchester Museum are great. I hope you settle in soon :)

Hey Leah! Just wanted to come here and say I got through my third year of undergrad while you went through your third year as well. In my country undergrad is 4 years, so I missed seeing your motivational content to get me to study. I just started graduate school this semester so I was so happy to hear you have too. Not sure how long you will be, but I'm happy that this parasocial relationship can continue as a way for motivation in school and seeing someone so similar to me in a similar spot in life. its so strange seeing you walk through the city, and go to places I've been such as black sheep coffee hehe. I'm not from manchester but its the closet city to me by bus as I live in the countryside. it always seems so strange to see it from someone else's perspective as I was in manchester just yesterday!

I was at MMU for a couple of years whilst I did an HND, and travelled down Oxford Road every day as I lived in Didsbury. The Muji in the Trafford centre has shut down? I am about to start the 2nd year of my year OU part-time degree. I splashed out on a new laptop, as the one I am using is about 4/5 years old and it is losing charge quickly. Glasgow Uni, where I do short courses are excellent with mental health resources. Good luck for your course Leah, I renewed my student membership for the British Psychological Society. Are you doing a MRes or an MSc?
