I'm going to be talking about this subject a lot more as it has played a huge part in my life. Hopefully you guys will get a good insight to what it is like living in a foreign country. :)

I feel you Scotty! Moved from Italy to Uk, to Sweden and now in Australia! Le language barrier is a big deal, when I moved to London I could barely speak English but I decided to go full on with it and not hang out with any Italians for over two years, that helped me a lot. Moving to Sweden I had to face the situation again with the difference that the swedish language is sooooo hard! But I´m getting there! Arrived to Australia I didn't even stress about settling down because I´m so used to do it over and over XD Even if you speak the language you will never be a local though, or you will be after maaaaaaany years! I think that the reality of an immigrant is that we are stuck into a limbo between the country where we come from and the country where we live, or many countries in the world like in my case XD

Ahhh, you are just so lovely. Love Aly's videos, but love that you have your own voice too now also. Really genuine, really down to earth, really helpful. Thank you ☺

I never really thought of moving outside the US until recently. But being in my 50s and having health issues makes is unfeasible. But if I felt this way when I was younger, Who knows. At least I'll be in Budapest for a week in June. I'm quite pumped about that.

A really helpful one Scott, thanks! Currently saving and trying to sort out working abroad long term as an uneducated American haha!

Nice, where are you going to go?
@Kroeg7 жыл бұрын
Scotty Does Would love to be in Western Europe, but only fluent in English so far. Looking at NZ or the UK, don't have the language barrier. Anywhere on that side of the pond will be grand though!

Thank you man really helpful. I am doing bachelor of international relations in Indonesia and I am planning to move to Europe in about three years from now. What should I prepare before moving?

I've been to a couple foreign countries before as far as my travels but I've always said I want to move to another country(s) and I'm tired of saying "One day I will do that". Body language and the way you carry yourself a lot of the time is all it takes if you don't know the language.

I'm planning on moving to Colombia this winter and have been most worried about finding a long-term stable job and also forming a new support system for myself since I won't have my family/friends around
@ScottyDoes7 жыл бұрын
Nice, do you speak Spanish?
@hadasah13187 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do! Albeit not the most perfect Spanish, but it is my second language. It's weird though because even though I've grown up with Spanish my whole life, I've never visited (and even less so lived) in a Spanish speaking country so I'm wondering what living in a 100% Spanish speaking environment will be like as well.

Saki Marie my dear husband and I have a home in Costa Rica.... it's a different country but same region. Perhaps I could offer some advice? We don't live there full time but we have loads of friends that do. Ask away!

I am in the process of moving to Budapest for 3 months to 1 year. How did you find a flat? Did you rent a host and find one after getting there. Or did you find some online prior to traveling there?
@ScottyDoes7 жыл бұрын
Hey we did AirBnB for a month first and in that time searched for a long term apartment. I have a video here giving you some info on how we found our place. :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3KkpISmgLtskJI

A bit off topic but from what ages did you live in Spain? Why did your parents decide on an international school for you?
@ScottyDoes7 жыл бұрын

I "moved" to Paris for a year within around year two of traveling since I needed to stay put to actually work and grow my freelance and I wish I hadn't. Not that I didn't love the city but it's because of all of the distractions: sights and food and culture. I am a romantic and paris was the worst idea. Although being there did help me with parts of a book I have been working on for years. Still haven't finished it lol. I should have gone somewhere like Ukraine to get work done lol. I love the Ukraine too but for a lot of other reasons.

:) Very cool and I get what you mean Paris is amazing and I will have to go back soon.
