Buy a device to block your apt door from opening. Don’t rely exclusively on locks! 2. Try not to go out too much at nights until you are familiar with area 3. Always and I mean always look at your surroundings! Make sure no one is directly behind you when walking. Even in Apartment complexes look around who is around you. 4. Hi Steph :) I worked at a coffee shop over the summer and made a bunch of lattes and I just wanted to give you a tip for your flavored lattes. Add how ever many shots of flavor into your espresso cup/mug so that the espresso shot and flavor mix well together. After you add the milk to your cup, your coffee is directly flavored, making the flavor stronger and better lasting! Hope this makes sense, sending you all the blessing for your move

We use Oatly Barista specific oatmilk!! It comes in a grey box carton! Also, if you need to measure vanilla, a tablespoon is around two pumps; for that cup, a starbucks would use four pumps. I also suggest putting the flavor in first so it can mix with the milk and espresso easier instead of just sitting on top of the ice. Hope this helps!!

Steph I always love seeing your videos 💖 I'm in a similar stage in my life so thank you for sharing your journey through all this. And from my few years of barista-ing here is some of my basic tips for making your latte! (I'm not a fancy barista by any means so fellow baristas out there please feel free to add or correct). For oat milks look for one that says it's a barista oat milk as they typically have slightly different ingredients so that they can foam better. Where I worked we used the Pacific Foods oat milk which comes in a little carton. As for using an espresso machine, you want to make sure you don't overfill the portafilter (which is the thing you're putting the espresso grounds in) so that when you tamp it down it has a little bit of room at the top. And don't be afraid to put a a bit of pressure into it when you're tamping it down. Also I'm not sure what kind of espresso machine you have, but the shot should take around 25-30 seconds when you pull it. If it is meant to stop on its own but it's going for too long it usually means you either overfilled your portafilter or tamped it too hard. Lastly for building your iced latte I recommend mixing your syrups straight into the espresso and then adding your milk and ice on top of that! It will help the syrup to melt and mix better into your latte 😊💕 Sorry if that explanation was a bit overwhelming. Again I'm definitely not a full on professional barista by any means, but I hope this helps all the same and gives you that cafe-tasting latte you're looking for!

hi! barista here! at starbucks + my old local coffee shop job, both use barista blend oatly! (it has less oil in it than the original!) shots will “die” (taste burnt) if they’re left sitting for 7+ seconds. a way to prevent that is to pull the shot over a glass with ice or milk! get yourself a fall flavor! vanilla is a classic and i don’t think they’ll go to waste if u add 1 fun flavor :) best of luck!!

ahah I was barista for four years so I have a few tips for you making them at home! 1. A big part of the reason you couldn't get the handle centered and the first stream only came out one side was bc you didn't tamp (Pressing the grounds into the portafilter) hard enough, and you need to seal it by turning the tamp! 2. You also should be weighing your coffee grounds! Measure the grounds in grams. You should be weighing out roughly 35-42 grams in and you should be letting the shot run for 20-25 seconds. The "foam" you were referring to in the shot is called "Crema"! When you get a shot glass, you should see a gradient of dark to medium to crema for your espresso! Weigh the shot after and it should be 4ish grams (Keep in mind your spout on the portafilter pours doubles, so if you ever get a single head the measurements will be different)! 3. To make any coffee beverage the order should be coffee, flavoring, milk (Ice to top off if applicable). Whisk flavor and espresso together before adding milk in hot and cold. 4. Most cafe's use specific barista alt milks that are thicker bc most alt milks are very thin! Of the brands I've used, Pacifco has best barista alt milks!
